I can see the strength of her mental façade stripping away.
The weaknesses she prides herself on keeping hidden away are creeping through in the form of dark shadows. She's meant to be the perfect picture of an Alpha; strong and fearsome. She hasn't yet accepted that it isn't her. She's the soft, kind Alpha everyone appreciates. If only she wasn't blind to it.
Having wiped her tears from under her eyes, she stands, taking the chains with her. There is something too incredible for words in her eyes every time I meet them. Beyond the sheen of luminous emerald green, there is a sense of compassion, of understanding that I will never be able to reach.
That she would never share with someone like me.
She drags the chains from my cell, locking the door after her. The silver had burnt right into my skin, searing it with a brand that will last for months after this experience. It should, anyway.
I hear her open Callan's cell. I also hear his pleading words filled with mismatched lies and desperation. Even in my state, I still roll my eyes at how pathetic he manages to be. I shouldn't be surprised. He has always been this way. If Faye falls for this now, I'll be damned.
She seems set in her ways, however, as I listen in on their conversation, willing some strength into her backbone.
"You are going to answer the questions that I ask," Faye says firmly. I watch Guards pass by my cell door, all ready to assist their Alpha in binding Cal to the wall. He would be foolish to resist, although he's never struck me as a smart man. Cunning, perhaps. Intelligent, that's another story.
"Alpha you have gotten this all wrong," Cal pleads. "That Silent has manipulated you, me. I'm not the bad one here, he is."
He's not wrong about me, in some aspects. However, he's wrong about himself.
"I get to ask the questions," Faye repeats, her voice muffled by the sounds of the chains clinking. I can tell he's tied to the wall at this point by how quickly his protests come. Much to my own pleasure, Faye isn't having any of it.
If only I could watch what happens between them. I'll have to settle for listening, imagining the panicked look on his face when he realises his plan isn't working. Oh, how he must wish he had a brother named Fate.
"Are you controlling T?" Faye asks. My eyebrow raises.
"Hardly," Cal replies, his tone nothing but a grumble. "As if I could do anything to make a difference in his life. We are here for different reasons."
Faye seems satisfied with this answer, considering I hear no groan of pain in response. At the thought of it, that searing hot fire sears across my rooms again, making me curse softly under my breath. It hurts; however, I'm clinging to the hope that Faye will do damage to Cal too. Just as much if not more would suffice nicely.
"And what are your reasons?" Faye asks. I sit up more, curious on how he is going to get around this one. "Remember, I'm wielding the silver."
"I'm here to be your Personal Guard, Faye-"
I can feel his pain as he groans, begging through baited breath for Faye to relent. She does instantly, of course. She has no heart to keep the silver pressed against his skin for longer than a few moments. It's not her lack of strength, but her compassion for the guy. She is still confused on who to trust.
The answer is neither of us.
"You have been keeping things from Cal. You know T...how?" Faye questions. She sounds frazzled, caught up in herself.
"I came across him once. He's a Silent, of course I would. Just because I know who that criminal is doesn't mean I associate with him at all. He was brought into these cells for a reason. Faye, you can't tell me you let him get into your head," Cal says, exasperated.
Faye pauses, perhaps waiting for me to interject. I stay quiet. I only speak when I've calculated each sentence. When it has meaning.
"If that's true, then what do you know about my sister? What about the supposed Alpha of this mystery Pack?" Faye questions, her voice wary. She's believing him. I would be more worried about that if I wasn't so curious about this Alpha that she has mentioned. Interesting.
"I have no idea...I heard about your sister from your father, she died from cot death, I assure you. They never wanted to upset you," Cal explains.
It's a smart lie. He's lucky me interfering with him would only cause me more grief, otherwise he would surely be hung by now. Well, if Faye trusts me. I'm sure I can make it happen.
There's no sound of pain.
"Go," I hear Faye breathe, defeat dripping from her voice. "Don't come back."
My eyes close slowly, as I concentrate on the sounds of Cal be unlocked. He is asking her why, begging for forgiveness. She isn't having it though, as she remains silent, until Cal finally walks out, casting me a final glance before he walks away.
It takes a few drawn out moments until Faye comes back to my cell again. Her hair is in disarray, her wrists slightly burnt from bumping the silver, her gaze distant. She chose Cal over me. It's not too hard to expect.

Perhaps there was hope in T's eyes as I have him unlocked from his wall binds. However, I feel almost heartless as I have the door locked after him. I linger for a moment. My mistake.
"What made you trust him?" T asks, struggling to his feet. "He rub you up the right way, huh?"
I try my best to ignore the ping of sympathy I feel seeing him attempt to stand in so much pain. He deserves it, I remind myself. Even as I think that, catching a glance of the wounds I left keeps my eyes pinned to my feet to avoid the nausea. Or is that a sinking feeling? Wow,
I'm not so good at this.
"Everything he says makes sense, so I allowed him to leave," I say. "You, however, I do not trust to be out there, near my Pack members. So, you will stay here until I come to a proper conclusion."
He raises an eyebrow. "Even though the jury ruled me innocent?"
"I'm the Alpha."
"Fair enough," he says with a shrug. He leans deliriously against the wall, leaving me surprised he can even concentrate on talking with me, especially in such a snarky manner. If he spoke in any other fashion, I would be worried for him.
There's a moment's silence before any of us speaks again. "I would like to propose a deal that would benefit both of us. That is, of course, if you're interested."
I fold my arms over my chest. Is he seriously trying his luck right now? There's only so far my love for his wavy mess of hair, and my sympathy for his current condition will get him. My trust for him is sitting at the lowest point possible right now. And here I was thinking he understood everything about me, even if I don't know why.
"Don't waste your breath-"
"So, you're not interested in who Tayten is?" T taunts, cocking his head so a perfect curl comes down over his eye.
My jaw clenches. "Seriously T, leave it."
"I mean, all I'm offering is a little information on her. Trust me, it would change your life," he says, taking a shuddering step toward the cell door, where I stand. Admittedly, it is easier to face him when he comes off so unintimidating being injured and all.
"And what would you get out of it?"
T's smile is mischievous, tainted only slightly by pain. "Somewhere else to sleep at night, maybe. Better food, if you're feeling generous. And of course, some medication, because death seems sweeter than sitting here with this pain."
He masks the pain well, however, after having minor silver burns inflicted on me, I can't help but feel a slight ounce of his pain. It's not nice. Not nice at all.
"That's it? You want a room to sleep in? In exchange for telling me who Tayten is?"
T nods. "You have no idea how much pain I am in."
I think about that for a moment. Why is the idea of knowing Tayten so tempting? Maybe because if I know who she is, I might be able to find a way to her before T can. Then, of course, I can get T's identity out of her, while simultaneously putting an end to T's plan. Does he realise this?
"You realise you will be locked in any kind of room I chose, all day. Nothing will be different, except the room, and the food. I'll be employing all my silver if you even think about escaping," I warn.
"I'm fully aware," he replies.
I tap my foot on the concrete. T watches the movement, eyes glazed over. "Go on then, share away."
"I would like to warn you, that I'm telling you who she is, but if you make any move to interfere with her, there will be consequences," he warns, his voice starting to get slightly slurred at the ends. The pain is getting to his head.
I want to roll my eyes. He clearly has no idea of my resources. I'll find Tayten while he is happily locked away in a room. Simple. At least I hope it is.
"Consequences such as?"
"Death," he says slowly. "And a lot of it."
I only smile softly. "Like I said, share away."
"Tayten is a time traveller. I wanted to communicate with her through that book, which isn't mine, however, holds a lot of power. The one you took away from me, of course."
My jaw clenches. "Time travel?"
"I dabble. Well, not me personally, however, I'm interested in trying something new," he explains, his hand tightening on his side. It's starting to really bother him.
"That's it?"
He raises an eyebrow. "Pretty much. We could of course, talk about this later. I would appreciate it if you could take me to bed, if that's not too brazen of me to request."
I ignore the latter of his sentence, nodding anyway. "okay."

I run outside, seeing the Huntsman walking away, having packed away all his belongings.
"Cal!" I call, bringing him to a stop. "Wait!"
He pauses, glancing back at me in disbelief. I'm probably the last person he expected to see after what I did to him in the cell. A part of me assumes he's just going to turn and walk away, but instead, he waits.
I stop in front of him, taking in a deep breath before I start talking.
"You're a Huntsman, right? I have one last job for you if you're up for it."
