Charlotte
In the previous chapter, Alpha took Charlotte, the akuma victim, away from her currently addict and abusive father. She instructed her to find Roseline and she would take care of her. After leaving her at the steps of Grandma's mansion, she de-transformed and took her to Grandma, to ask if she could stay there. Hope this clears up any following confusion. Salut!✌️
*Roseline's POV*
"Grandma, I want you to meet Charlotte. She's the..... little sister of one of my friends." I effortlessly fibbed. Grandma raised a sculpted eyebrow at me and smiled. "Rosie, I can tell when you're lying to me. Who is this one, really?" She chuckled. Charlotte cast a worried glance at me and looked on the verge of tears. "Please, don't send me away! I'll be good I promise!" She cried. Grandma looked at me for explanation and I mouthed "later" before focusing on Charlotte. "Oh darling, I won't send you away. I'm just a bit confused, is all!" Grandma crouched in front of her. She swiped away the tears from her cheeks. "Come on, darling. I'm sure I have an extra room, fit for a princess like yourself." Grandma smiled and led her down the hallway.
"You have some serious explaining to do, young lady." Grandma set her fork down after swallowing a piece of her chicken provençal. I gulped and asked "Charlotte?" She nodded solemnly. "Whose child is that and why do you have her?" Her gaze was cool as she stared me right in the eye. I had to remind myself to not give into her casual intimidation and keep my secret a secret. "Alpha left her here and asked me to take care of her while she looked for a potential legal caretaker." I lied, staring back. Grandma's gaze wavered at my strong response, then she sat back and sighed. "Our superheroes do know best. Very well, she may stay here, only until she has a potential match. " Grandma sternly said. I nodded, then refocused on my bowl.
*The next day *
*Adrien's POV*
Chef sat the warm English breakfast tea in front of me, along with two crisp slices of baguette slathered with butter. I nodded in dismissal and started absentmindedly on my breakfast. All I could think of was Alpha, her silky dark hair, cut at the shoulder, part of which was held on the side by her miraculous. Her striking blue eyes matched the color of the clearest of oceans and her skin was the color of perfectly creamed coffee. Just thinking of her made me want to cause an akuma, just to see her again.
"Adrien. I've called your name three times already. Is something on your mind?" Natalie grabbed my unfinished plate. "No it's just-" I started. Did I really want to tell Natalie about the love of my life? No, I decided, I did not. She wouldn't understand. "Nothing. It's nothing." I shook my head, abruptly standing from the table. "It's time for me to get ready for school, isn't it? I should go get ready." I hurriedly blurted. She nodded. Her gaze never left my back.
*Marinette's POV*
As I slammed my finger on the dismissal button, Tikki spoke. "You'd better hurry, Marinette. You don't wanna be late!" I jolted out of bed and stumbled on top of the attic door. "Ugh..."
"Bye maman! Bye papa!" I exclaimed as I ran out of the door. Croissant in one hand, purse straps in the other, I bolted toward the school doors. Scrambling up the stairs, I caught a glimpse of a figure racing past me, but I was too focused on getting to my class. Regardless, I still managed to flop through the door two minutes late. "Both you and Miss Thomas-Lopez. What a coincidence! Try next time to arrive in class, on time."Miss Bustier giggled. My face flushed and I shuffled to my seat. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched Roseline flop next to Nathaniel. But I also noticed Adrien's eyes following her all the way up the aisle. Oh no. Oh NO.
*Adrien's POV*
Roseline slumped gracefully into her chair next to Nathaniel and lean towards the board. "Mr. Agreste, I hope whatever Ms. Thomas-Lopez is saying is about my lecture, because it seems like she's become the teacher!" Faded through my hearing after I fell out of my rosy colored gaze. A bright blush fell on my cheeks as Nino and Alya giggled by me. "Yes, Ms. Bustier." I mumbled.
***
"Sorry about getting you in trouble this morning, Adrien." Roseline bowed her head slightly. "Really, there's no need for that. It was my fault for staring and not paying attention. I'll try not to be captured by your beauty next time. " I smiled, a dark red flush covering her tanned complexion. I swiveled around, that same blush coming over me. Did I just say that?!
In my room, I threw my self onto my bed, Plagg flying out from under me, laughing. "I can NOT believe you said that! It's Monday, you have to see her tommorow!" He guffawed. I further failed to suffocate myself in my pillow and groaned in embarrassment.
*Roseline's POV*
I stood there, eyes wide. Fortunately, that was my only tell to how baffled I was. My eyes returned to their normal half-closed state as I turned toward the sidewalk, heading to the house.
Grandma sat gracefully one of her white porch chairs. "What's got you all flushed? Is it a boy? " She smiled cheekily. I smiled and rolled my eyes playfully. "Yes actually. It is." I smirked, before entering the house.
At the table sat Charlotte, solemnly vaccuming up her cookie from the Dupain-Cheng bakery. I slid into the chair across from her. "Whatcha thinking about?" I tried. She gazed up at me and looked on the verge of tears. Of course, she started to cry, curling in on herself. "I'm sorry! Don't give me back! I'm just scared, that's it!" She sniffled. I went around, pulling her close. "It's ok sweetie. Why are you afraid?" I whispered. She sniffed, composing herself. In her wet hands sat a soggy note addressed in sloppy writing :Charlotte.
"'You can't hide for long, Charlotte'? Who left this note?" Grandma asked, incredulously. We shrugged in sync, eyeing the note with the same suspicion. She placed it down onto the table and sighed, smoothing out the wrinkles in her crisp day dress. "Charlotte, I'll be moving your room closer to me. Try to stay safe and unseen. We can't risk you being 'found'.
*AUTHOR NOTE*
GUYS! I just want to apologise, personally, for my schedule. I wish I had a reason to say that I haven't been updating.
Unfortunately, I do not.
As a student, I am on summer break and I'm taking alot of dance classes (drill team for life!) and I'm pretty busy three days of the week, but I have no excuse for the other days. I'm just easily distracted. I'm attempting to become invested with this story, though. Gemme some time to get into a true schedule!
