2. Caught
chapter two || caught
Taylah's POV
"Mom, I'm going for a run," I shouted walking out the door.
My wolf was dying to go for a run in the new forest, so was I.
Taking off my clothes, I hid them behind a large tree for when I return. I shifted into my very small, pure white wolf, shaking out my long fur.
I've never understood why my wolf was so small, but my mom said her wolf was small too. Although I've never seen her shift into her wolf, it's quite believable considering my size.
From what I remember, as a child I was always smallest among the others, I was also one of the weakest. My old pack was very strong. All the children could defend themselves and run miles without getting tired, but it was different for me. I never learnt how to defend myself and I've always been considered a slow and unfit wolf. I was often teased for being a small wolf even though I was always a friendly child. I faced bullying daily and my only perk was that my healing was super fast. Faster than any wolf's.
I took off in a sprint, dodging trees and jumping over logs.
There was a faint scent of another wolf, but it was too hard to pick up on. Either this wolf was very good at masking their scent or they have only been here once.
I shrugged it off thinking it was probably the same wolf I saw last night.
I continued running through the forest inhaling the relaxing scent. The scenery was amazing, I wish I could run forever.
I stopped running when I came upon the little pond with a waterfall. The scent of the water and the sound of falling water relaxed me. I laid down on my belly, resting my head on my paws.
Closing my eyes I began to think of my new home here. Something tells me we will be staying here longer than I thought. And I'm okay with that.
"Shift!"
My eyes shot open in surprise. I stood up on all fours, turning around to see who was there.
A man who was probably in his late fifties was staring back at me coldly. He had bright, stern blue eyes and scruffy beard. His brunette hair was flowing with the wind giving him a look of youth.
He seems so familiar.
"I said shift," he growled.
I looked down at my body, trying to indicate I had no clothes to change into.
The man walked into the forest and behind a tree. He came back with an oversized t-shirt and threw it at me.
I trotted over to a tree, shifting and throwing the t-shirt over my body. The shirt came up to my knees, covering everything.
"Follow me. Don't run."
I slowly followed the man, walking right behind him.
I wonder why he wanted me to shift?
Where is he taking me?
Am I in trouble?
We had been walking for about ten minutes now and the guy had brought me to a massive mansion, a pack house.
He opened up the large gate, allowing me to enter. I walked through the gate and up the long driveway.
"When you get to the door buzz in and say David sent you. The lady that opens door will take you to where I want you, just follow her," he explained.
Something was telling me I had to listen to this guy, so I obeyed.
Nodding my head I continued my way up the driveway. Once I got to the door I clicked the buzzer, soon after I heard feet rushing to the door.
The door opened revealing a small Latina wearing an apron.
"Um, David sent me," I breathed.
The lady smiled, stepping aside allowing me to walk into the pack house.
"Follow the hallway, take your first right and you will see a large mahogany door, knock before you enter. Good luck," she said in her thick accent.
Good luck?
I followed her instructions and saw there was in fact a large door.
Even from here I could smell a scent. Obviously a men's scent as it was very strong and radiating power. A woodsy pine mixed with a hint of mint.
I took a long breathe in, mentally preparing myself. I didn't even know what to expect behind this door.
I knocked on the door and patiently waited for an answer. The door swung open and I came face to a large chest. I lifted my head up and my eyes immediately made contact with stone cold but bright blue eyes. I quickly diverted my gaze, not being able to stare at an Alpha for too long.
"Get inside," he demanded.
I quickly walked into his office and kept my head lowered. It was disrespectful to look an Alpha in the eye, they take eye contact as a challenge.
"Look at me."
I lifted my head and once again was met with his icy blue eyes. I took this as my chance to see what the rest of him looked like. His coffee coloured hair was neatly styled on the top of his head making him look even more professional. You could tell by the first look he was an Alpha. His cheekbones sat high on his face pronouncing his bright, cold eyes and his jawline was structured by the Moon Goddess herself, carved finely at every edge.
This guy was gorgeous.
I felt drawn to him in some way. Attracted to him.
His build is pretty large for an Alpha. He stands at at least 6'4 almost a foot taller than me.
"Take a seat."
I sat down on his mahogany couch, across from his desk.
"What are you doing on my territory?" He interrogated, his eyes never left mine.
"I'm sorry, I don't seem to understand what you're saying," I replied gently.
"What are you doing on my territory? Both your mother and yourself were found up on my Northern territory. What is the reason for this?" He demanded.
"Well, my mother and I are in some trouble and we have been on the run for a while now. She came upon this state and found it safer for us. So she bought a little bungalow further up north. We didn't know it was on your territory, I'm sorry." I looked down, to ashamed to look in his gorgeous eyes.
"Keep your eyes up, lowering them is a sign of weakness." He said coldly. "Now, whats going to happen is, your mother and yourself will move into my pack house or move out of my state."
The whole state is his territory?
"I think, I'm going to have to discuss this with my mother," I softly said.
"Very well, you have until tomorrow to confirm with you mother, otherwise you will be leaving, never to return. Understand?" He challenged.
"I understand," I breathed.
"You are dismissed," he got up off his chair and walked over to the door. He opened it for me allowing me to walk through.
As I was walking towards the door, I didn't notice the folded up end of the rug, resulting in me tripping over.
Before I could even touch the ground the Alpha's arms shot out just in time to catch me before I fell.
Tingles shot up my arm and down my spine, making me shiver in pleasure. I looked up at him to see his normal stone face. Doesn't he feel them too? Is he my mate?
"You're my mate," I whispered.
"Mate? No. I don't have a mate. And nor do I want one. Leave," he threw my arm down like I had a contagious disease and stepped aside allowing me to walk through the door.
"You don't want me," I whimpered.
Rejection from your mate is one of the hardest thing you can through as a wolf, that or losing your mate.
I saw something flash though his eyes, it was gone as quick as it came so I couldn't tell what it was.
"No, I will not repeat myself. Leave," he snarled.
I looked down, my eyes filling with tears. I didn't allow them to fall, crying is a sign of weakness and him seeing me weak right now is not what I wanted. I looked up at him one more time.
"Farewell Alpha."
I sent him one long glance before I turn around and walked out of the pack house.
