Chapter 24
Alorah Reagen
I sat on my seat, browsing through my phone in an empty classroom.
After the conversation with Layla and Amelia back in the small resting area in front of the building, I watched them leave to attend to their clubs. A while later, when I couldn't see them anymore, I returned inside and found an empty classroom to relax.
No one knew where I was, not even my two best friends. It's just... I didn't feel like going home yet, and luckily, none of the clubs used my classroom, so I got the room all to myself.
The sound of people cheering could be heard up to the third floor, which is where I am. The curtains were dancing gently in the soft wind.
It feels relaxing being in here. I never understand why I haven't done this before, staying behind after school for a couple of minutes before deciding it was time to go home.
Though I love the quietness, I felt like something was missing.
I left the app I was on, opened Youtube, and scrolled through the list of music I had saved. The atmosphere in this room was like waking up in the early morning, perhaps around 6 a.m., when the sun wasn't blazing, and the color of the sky was a warm hue.
My fingers stopped and I smiled when I saw just the song that would compliment this feeling. I pressed on the video, turned up the volume a bit, and listened to the instrument at the begging of the song written by Jessica Jung called Falling Crazy in Love (English Version).
(You can play the song while reading the next part to get the feels \(^_^)/)
When the first line began, I stood up and walked to the back of the classroom so that I would have enough space to dance.
Every dream that I have is about you
I don't wanna wake up
Baby, I'll lean on to you when I have to
And I can't get enough
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before dancing the waltz. Every time the song came up, I couldn't help but do this dance. For me, it fit perfectly, and I envisioned myself waltzing with my partner.
When I hear your voice,
that my heart don't have a choice.
But to give in,
Give it all or surrender,
Give you all of my love.
The fuzzy feeling I felt was there, and knowing that the chorus part was coming up made me excited.
There's something about the way that you smile,
Something about the way you hold me.
I'm falling babe,
I'm falling for you,
Falling crazy in love.
I twirled before returning to the starting position, my right arm on my partner's left hand and my left hand on his shoulder.
I couldn't help but sing the whole song softly as it continued to let me immerse myself in this dream-like feeling. As I opened my eyes to stare at my partner, my smile widened when I realized the person before me was Julian.
He mirrored my expression back, and I felt like this was perfect. Being able to do this and doing it with someone I am comfortable with is superb.
If only this would last forever.
I let out a sigh once the song ended. I returned to my seat, clicked the pause button, and stared sadly at my phone.
If I were to do this with him in real life, I wouldn't have the courage to ask him. However, I'm thankful I can do this with him in my imagination.
I glanced at the clock to see if it was time to go home. I grabbed my stuff and turned around as I put on my bag when I came to a halt.
Standing in front of me was Julian. His hands were resting in his pocket as he watched me intently.
How long was he standing there?
We stood for a few seconds, staring back at each other, before I realized what was happening was strange and creepy. Clearing my throat, I mustered a smile and waved my hands at Julian.
"Hey. I didn't notice you were there. What are you doing here?" I asked, noting that at this time, he should be in the field practicing.
Julian didn't say anything and continued to stare at me. I shifted on the spot, debating whether I should leave to avoid the awkwardness or continue to stay here and wait.
Why wasn't he saying anything? Oh god, please don't tell me this was the infamous doppelganger. I don't think I can handle seeing something like that.
The fear was creeping up slowly, and tears were forming in my eyes as my mind raced at the possibility of facing a potential being. I watched as he took a step forward in my direction at a slow pace.
I squeezed my eyes shut as my heart was beating faster than usual.
"Please don't hurt me," I whispered.
My body flinched when I felt fingers holding my chin, tilting my head back. I opened my eyes hesitantly and quickly scanned his face.
He was still staring at me and I looked down when I noticed his lips were moving.
"What if I told you we could do this again whenever you want? Both in your imagination and in real life?" he asked.
I felt my heart drop, realizing this was real and not a hallucination. Then it jumped right back up when Julian's offer sank in.
