Prologue
???
I walked through the DWMA halls by myself as usual. I walked into Crescent Moon class and went to my seat and never looked up once to meet my Teacher's eye or anyone else's for that matter. I was getting my worksheet out from the day before as I was finished when I noticed a rather large and pale hand on the top of my desk. I moved my eyes up a little more and notice the figure was wearing a stitched lab coat and I stopped just before his eyes.
"Ms. (l/n), you are needed in the Death Room."
I nodded slowly, and stood. I gathered the rest of my things as he grabbed my worksheet and scanned it. "Phenomenal work as usual, as well."
I nodded again and put my stuff on his desk as I walked out of the class slowly and down the hall to the Death Room door as I opened it slowly and let it latch behind me as I made my way down to the small platform he stands on.
I walked up the steps and stopped a few feet from them. Lord Death turned around and bounced a bit.
"Hello hello. Good Morning (y/n)." he said.
I gave a nod and looked at the base of his robe.
"It has been brought to my attention by your Professor that you don't have a weapon." he said.
I nodded again as I felt a hand on my shoulder. I could smell formaldehyde meaning that Stein was next to me. He's the only person that I can relate with and isn't afraid of me either. I smiled slightly.
"I would like you to stay with the professor for now. You can get training from him. But since with your parents being both Weapon and Meister. There's a chance you are both." he said.
I nodded and heard Stein speak up. "How soon do you want her to be moved into the Patchwork Lab?" he asked.
"ASAP, Stein."
I looked down at the floor still. "I can have her there after school, then. If that is alright with you of course, Ms. (l/n)." he said.
I tilted my head a little to his direction and nodded.
We left the Death Room soon after. We were walking next to each other on our way back to the class.
"I have a question."
I blinked and hummed as I lifted my head to show I was listening.
"Why do you never make eye contact or speak often?"
I looked up at him slowly and he looked at my eyes. The one on my left is (e/c) and the other matches my soul and is (f/c).
"i do speak just not in school. I used to be talked over quite a bit so I gave up with trying to speak my mind and eventually I ceased to exist to my peers. But a quiet life is easier to manage. No drama, no hate, no expectations, just me."
He looked surprised. I looked down and glued my eyes to the floor once again. I began walking again and he stood and watched me as I turned the corner before I heard his heavy shoes clack against the tiled hallway as he caught up with me.
I saw his grey stitched shoes from the corner of my eye and gave a slight smile from behind my hair. He opened the door for me and let me walk through before he followed. He stepped in and grabbed my shoulder gently to get me to stop for a second.
"Thank you for sharing such personal information with me. I want you to know that you are not alone here at the DWMA. I will help you be the best Meister you can be. I promise, you can always trust me."
I looked at him to see the sincerity in his eyes. I gave a small smile and nodded. He let go of my shoulder and began walking to his desk and I made my way swiftly yet quietly back to my desk while not making eye contact again and sat down. I looked at my textbook and began to read the next chapter before class ended.
Ding Dong Dong Ding
The bell rang and everyone stood quickly and ran out like they were being chased like the Witch Medusa was after them. I stood slowly and gave a light sigh. I grabbed my stuff and walked down the stairs with them to my chest. I walked over to Stein's desk and waited patiently for him to notice my presence.
"Did you read the next chapter?"
"Yes, sir."
"Exceeding expectations, as usual, I see. Very well. I just need to finish grading this one worksheet and we can be on our way."
I nodded and he finished the worksheet before standing. He stood and began to walk towards the door before stopping and moving back to the desk and sifting through the stack of graded worksheets. He found mine and slid it over to me on the desk. I looked at it carefully and smiled lightly.
"Perfect as usual."
I nodded and picked it up and put it in my pale green biology folder and looked at Stein though my bangs.
"Shall we go now?"
I nodded. "Yeah."
We began to walk out of the school. We got to the stairs and slowly walked down them as Stein puffed on a cigarette. I walked a few steps behind him and when we got to the base of the stairs and turned and started walking to the cemetery.
