Chapter 14: A Red Rose

School hours were over. I packed my stuff, noticing Hoseok's been staring at me.

"You need something?"

He shook his head. "I can't stop staring at you."

He did that on purpose, again! I gave him a fake smile.

Namjoon headed to exit the classroom.

Taehyung entered our classroom, placing his hand on my shoulder. "We're going at Namjoon's house, this evening. Won't you come with us?"

Seriously? I'd love to! But I can't.

"I-I got some shit to take care of."

Taehyung turned his face at Hoseok. "What about you?"

"Nah! I'm taking Y/N on a date." Hoseok replied, looking at Namjoon who was waiting for Taehyung to join him outside the classroom.

A date?! What the hell is he talking about?

"Maybe next time," Hoseok said, winking at Namjoon who was staring at us. "Am I right, Namjoon?"

Namjoon nodded as he was giving us a fake smile. "Come on, Taehyung. We're gonna be late."

Taehyung nodded. He smiled at me and left with Namjoon.

I looked at Hoseok. "Why did you say that?"

He ran his fingers through his hair. "What do you mean?"

I rolled my eyes.

•••

My cellphone started vibrating. I looked at its screen. 3 new messages from Hoseok.

I threw my cellphone on the couch, covering my face with my hands, because I didn't want to read his messages.

I laid down on the couch, massaging my forehead with my thumb and index finger.

I grabbed my cellphone, wanting to dial Namjoon's number. I stared at his name. I took a deep breath, and closed my eyes.

Suddenly, somebody rang the doorbell.

As I was trying to get up, my cellphone fell on my face. Ouch!

I put my hand on the knob and opened the door.

Hoseok raised his eyebrows. "Whom were you wrestling with?"

"What?!"

"Your forehead... it's red." He replied, laughing.

He held up my chin, kissing me on the forehead.

"Close your eyes." He said, smiling at my face.

"Why?! You wanna stab me with a knife or something?"

"Are you kidding me?" He asked, taking a deep breath. "Do as I say. Please?"

I closed my eyes. After a few seconds, he held my right hand. "Now, open them."

I opened my eyes, seeing a red rose in front of my face. "I know that you deserve more than this, but—"

I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck, cutting him off. "Thank you, Hoseok." Then, I came out of his hug. "Wait here. I'll be ready in a jiffy."

He nodded.

I went to my bedroom, throwing the red rose on my desk, searching the wardrobe for a nice dress to wear.

I wore a short black dress and headed downstairs.

I tapped Hoseok on the shoulder as his back was on me. He turned around, looking at me from head to toe with an open mouth. "You... um... you..."

I raised my eyebrows, waiting for him to continue talking. "You look great, Y/N."

I smiled as I turned around to lock the door.

He held my hand, making me to walk with him.

As we were walking, we started talking. "Today, you seemed sad, you know?"

I know, but nobody can guess the pain that I'm having, because it's driving me insane.

"I wonder why Taehyung wanted to gather us all at Namjoon's house." He continued.

"Maybe, it was an important issue."

"So, you mean that you would go to his house if I hadn't forced you to go on a date with me, right?" He asked, letting a breath out. "How lucky he is."

I wanted to change the subject, so I picked up a stone, aiming for someone's door, but I don't know how its direction changed and it broke their window.

"What have you done?!" Hoseok asked, shockingly.

"I-I don't know! I aimed for their door but—"

Suddenly, a fat middle aged man came out of the house to see who has done that to his window. "You two! Stop right where you are!"

Hoseok and I glanced at each other.

"You're thinking what I'm thinking?" Hoseok whispered.

"Hell no! Don't even think about it!" I whisper-yelled.

That man was coming towards us, having a knife in his left hand, and an apple in the other hand.

"Is he a snail or something? He's slow." Hoseok whispered.

"Stop being rude! He may hear you!" I whisper-yelled, looking straight.

He held my hand, tightly, letting a breath out. "RUN!"

He gripped my wrist, forcing me to run. We were running as that fat man was shouting.

"This is insane!" I shouted as I was laughing, breathing continuously.

"You're wearing high heels! How can you run so fast?!" He asked, laughing.

Something flashed back in my mind. It was the time when Namjoon and I were running, heading towards the light house.

We were running, holding each other's hands, tightly. "Why are we running like we stole something from the thrift shop?" I asked as I was running, smiling and holding his hand. "Oh, come on! I'm too old for this running thing!"

"That's why your vagani's dry!" He said, laughing.

"YOU PERVERT!" I shouted, punching his shoulder. "I swear if we weren't running like this, I would've killed you."

We looked at each other. I was lost in his eyes, but...

Suddenly, I came back to the reality. The reality that I'm holding Hoseok's hand.

"Y/N?"

"What?" I asked, looking straight forward.

"We've arrived." He replied.

I scanned everywhere quickly. I-I know this place. Wait! That's... that's the light house.

Wherever I go, there's a shadow of Namjoon, but why? The harder I try to forget him, the sooner I fall apart.

Hoseok encircled his arm around my shoulder. "You like this place, huh?"

Like it?! You don't know that I've been here with the love of my life.

This is where Namjoon confessed that he loves me, also this is the same place when he said that he hates me.

I'm supposed to hate this place, but I'm still loving it, because this place is where Namjoon confessed his true feelings for me.

The first place where we kissed.

Namjoon and I shared good memories.

We were supposed to make some history, but he let go of everything.

His greatest nightmare is feeding on him, but what is it? Am I able to stop his pain?

"Why don't you say anything?" Hoseok asked, nervously.

Something had blocked my throat. I was about to cry, but I was controling my emotions.

Hoseok must never know that I'm faking our love.

He stood in front of me, wrapping his hands around my waist. "Why do I want you?"

I stared down, closing my eyes. "Why are you asking me?"

"Because I'm all yours. You must have the answer to my question. The key of my heart was given to you."

Don't do this to me. I'm not ready for this.

He was closing his face to mine, trying to kiss me, under the moonlight. He just did it, but I wasn't kissing him back.

A tear ran down my cheek. He noticed, wiping it gently with his thumb as his eyes were closed.

How could he know that my tear found its way, running down my cheek?

Do I really deserve his love?
