chapter 4
Devon's P.O.V
I let go of Kat's neck leaving her gasping for air. I needed to get ahold of myself or she would end up like my last pet, who didn't last a week. I could feel my eyes glowing. Kat looked at me with fear. Good. That's what I need from her. Not this independent bullsh#t.
"Now," I looked at her fixing my tie, "Get dressed and Lily will help you with the rules and the basics." She gave me a nod. I walked out of the room as Lily came back into the room at her bed side.
"Devon," I heard someone say. I turned to see Glen. His black hair was neatly combed back and he smelled of fresh soul. Glen walked up to me so close his larger body was pressing up against me. "How is she holding up?"
"She recovering faster than any pet I've ever seen. Usually it takes days sometimes even a week to regain so much soul." I said putting my hands in pants pockets.
"Or walk strait," we both laughed a little before Lily walked out of the room with a fresh looking Kat. She smelled great. Her long black hair was brushed straight and she wore a dark blue knee length dress with a black belt. The collar I had gotten her was loose around her neck. Lily handed me the chain and walked over to Glen giving him her chain. Lily was a beautiful human, she had long red hair was thinner than most girls but I liked that. Her maid's uniform was from the Victorian age in London, Glens favorite area. "Well," Glen said snapping my back into reality. "Have fun training this one," We shared one more laugh before he left.

Meanwhile in a forest outside the mansion of demons...
Sam's P.O.V.
I look at the hideous mansion that smelled of demon and lost human souls. I felt sick. I knew Kat was in there and she was marked. I felt my green eyes glow. I should have done something in the ally. But the laws forbid it. The peace between reapers and demons. I wanted so bad to rush in there and kill all of them.
"I've never seen the mansion so lively," Keith said whistling at the fact that demons poured out of the mansion. I glared at the demon. Keith Adams, a white haired demon, he was caught breaking the laws of peace as a young demon. The 'court' allowed him to have a second chance but he would have to mentored and I was the first in line. Sadly. I smoothed my long blond hair back. I felt a glare come over me. I looked behind me to see a tall blond male.
"Marcus Valley," I said scared of using an uninviting tone. He walked up to me and grabbed the scruff of my shirt.
"How stupid are you!" He spat in my face. I pushed him off.
"Know your place!" I spat back.
"You were her guardian! You were trusted! Now she is..." I cut him off.
"I know well of the situation!" Keith snickered at us fighting.
"This is the most entertaining thing I've seen scene I was assigned to you, old man." Keith said. I glared at the young demon.
"What the hell is he doing here?" Marcus growled.
"I have to take this thing everywhere I go," I sighed.
"You don't have much time if you want her the way she was," Keith said looking up into the mansion. "Her training has started."

Kat's P.O.V.
Lily dressed me in a short bark blue dress with a matching leather collar. I looked in the mirror as my long black hair rested on my shoulders. I looked at the now black cloth on my wrist. Lily had lead me outside to meet Devon and Glen. I didn't like this place. It smelled all the time and was always dark. I wanted so bad for things to be as they were years ago.
"Have fun training this one," Glen's voice brought me back into attention. Devon laughed as Glen and Lily left. I put my head down not wanting to look at that thing next to me. I could feel his icy glare. He lifted up my chin forcing me to look in to his now pink eyes.
"Let's start with digging up your past," He said as I started to remember things I haven't thought about in years.
-------------------- (4 year old Kat)
"Come on dear don't worry," I followed my new foster parents into my new home. Their house was huge! It must have 16 dozen rooms! My big eyes look all-round the marvelous house.
"Thank you," I said handing my new 'father' my small bag consisting of a few changes of clothing.
"We'll need to take you shopping," He said looking at the small bag.
--(Small time skip because I didn't know what to write about this and the 'mother and father' won't play a large roll)
It's now night time and my first night in this lovely house. My new mother and father tucked me in to bed and shut the door behind them. I turned over laying on my side trying to sleep when I felt someone playing with my hair. I turned around to see a tall, long blond haired man.
"Sam!" I said in whisper hugging the man. A warm smile spread across his face.
"This is Kathrina Smith?" A voice in the corner asked in doubt. Sam glared at the white haired man.
"Sammy! I got a new home today and they said they will love me forever!" I said very happy thinking I found my home. Sam forced himself to smile and sighed.
"Yes Kat I know," He said patting my hair. I smuggled up to the tall man feeling sleepy. I smiled, "I love you Sammy, you're my best friend," and fell asleep.
---------------------------(16 year old Kat)
"GOOD I HATED IT HERE ANY WAY!" I shouted at my foster parents as I stormed out of the house. I ran past houses hearing them call out to me. I didn't care they could go to hell. I hated them. They told me that the only reason they had me is because they couldn't have a kid of their own. They never loved me. I walked past an ally way and saw a tall, long blond haired man. I mentally slapped myself. I had stopped believing Sam was real after telling my foster parents about him and years of therapy to get me not to believe in him. I smiled and kept walking leaving my imaginary friend with a very hurt expression.
---------------(18 year old Kat)
I was managing just fine. I finished high school in college and was now starting my first year of college after two years of working at a coffee shop where I meet a very nice man. He even let me stay at his place a few times. I didn't know what I was going to get a degree in but I knew I needed more than just a high school degree. I didn't have a lot of money but I was making it. I didn't think much of my mother or father. My real ones. I did research on them. They were dead. I knew this much.
--------------------(Pulling back into reality)
I thrashed, and kicked. The thumbs stabbing my temples hurt. Devon stuck his black nails into my skin making my head bleed.
"Damn it stop fighting!" He said. The pain spread not in just my head. Recalling the past. I hated it. My past there was so many things that didn't fit together. I couldn't remember the orphanage, or the first time I made up Sam. And when I came up with the tall white haired man. Nothing fits. Devon released me from his grip pulling back his now bloody hands. His expression was frustrated. He put his hand on his head.
"The old man did a good job locking up your memories," He said frustrated. "We need to go to my office,"
"Demons have offices?" I asked feeling cheeky from making him frustrated. I glared at me then slowly smiled.
"When your me, kitten," He said as he licked my blood from his fingers.
