(Avery's POV)
I start taking boxes into the new house.

"Why did we have to move?" I ask, accidentally dropping the box I was carrying.

"It'll be better if we do. You'll have a brother who's also 10, like you. You'll love it here." Mom says. I role my eyes as she says, "Go meet your new brother."

I walk into the house and see a boy with a red dinosaur onesie on. He also has red hair and red eyes.

"Hi!" He says, walking up to me. "I'm Micheal, but you can call me Red. You're Avery, right?"

"Well, yeah." I reply. I tried to avoid eye contact.

"Let me go show you your room! We're gonna share a room!" Micheal says, running up the stairs.

"Why did you guys even adopt me anyways?" I ask, following him.

"Because you were an orphan!" Micheal shouts down from our room.

"Careful! You know my ears can't take loud sounds!" I say, walking up to him.

"Sucks to be you, doesn't it?" Layla says.

Shut up, Layla.

"Don't be so mean, Layla!" Katie shouts.

Both of you, shut up.

I look back at Micheal and he nods.

I can already tell I'm gonna have a great time...
