Brian
Darkness in the daytime
Loneliness at nights
Walk out on the playground
Not one real friend in sight
.....
First bell in the morning
Blood-shot in one eye
Laughter in the classroom
Teacher out of sight
.....
I wonder when nighttime
If God ever see my plight
I gaze up through my window
I pray
I wish
I cry
.....
I dread the morning after
For me the sun don't shine
.....
Graffiti on my locker
Words so bold and bright
I read each word in silence
Each one a different lie
.....
"Your mom's a mental patient
Your father is just not right
Your home is in the shelter
How do you sleep at nights
.....
Your sister is loser
Her hair is full of lice
You have no friends to play with
At 3:00 the other eye."
.....
That night as I was weeping
I saw these flashing lights
The smell of something burning
The smoke was thick and white
.....
He lived just one street over
The bully that no one liked
Was sleeping like a baby
He couldn't fight that night
.....
First bell Monday morning
We all gathered outside
The playground was much brighter
The bully was not in sight
.....
That night I sat and wondered
If God could hear my prayer
I gazed up through my window
I prayed but did not cry
.....
I whispered in my prayer
Please let Brian be alright
