Chapter 3

Amy's POV

Oh, great, now what does the Doctor want? And what's that safe thingy that's following the TARDIS?

I rushed out of the door, pulling my sweatshirt around me in the cool November night. The Doctor stepped out. He was still wearing the bowtie. "Amy!" he cried. A girl stepped out of the safe. "She's the one you want to show me? She's pretty. Good choice," the girl was wearing a black t-shirt that reached her knees.

"Emma, why did you change your shirt?" asked the Doctor. She shrugged. "Just because," she stuck out her hand. "Emma Lair. Nice to meet you..." she cocked her head. "What's your name?"

"Amy Pond. Pleasure. She your companion?" I asked the Doctor.

The girl answered. "No, we just met. I've got my own TARDIS. Don't need to hitch on another," she grinned. I was liking her less and less.

"Emma, be quiet. No she is not my companion. I don't have one," he said.

"Cool," I hopped onto the TARDIS. Emma turned to the Doctor. "I need to show you both something. You both need to see it,"

He shrugged. Amy poked her head. "Are we going anywhere?"

"No, I need to show you something in my TARDIS," Emma explained. I was confused. "Your TARDIS? But I thought..."

"Long story. No time for questions. Follow me!" she walked into the safe. The Doctor followed. I figured I should too. I stepped inside.

Okay, I have to describe it. It was a little like the Doctor's, with staircases and the control thingy in the middle of the room and a chair, but the chair was like a office chair and the control thingy was red. On one wall was a telly. She had a VCR. It was cool, like the Doctor's, but in a different way. But Emma ignored it all. She walked up a staircase, the Doctor following. Emma looked back. "Are you coming or not?" she asked impatiently. I shrugged and followed.

Emma's POV

"Are you coming or not?" I asked Amy. She shrugged and started up the staircase. "I guess,"

"Good. It's important," I explained. I reached the top and turned right, not bothering to check to see if they were following. The Doctor and Amy soon caught up. "Where are we going?" asked the Doctor.

"The library," I said. I made another right and continued heading that way. I finally stopped in front of a door. The Doctor and Amy walked into me. "We're here," I sang as I pulled open the door. It opened to a large room filled with bookshelves stuffed to the top with books, thin books, fat books, new books, old books, many books. The Doctor was in awe. "You've got a library, and all I've got is holes in the floor,"

"FYI, not my fault," I said, walking down between two bookcases. I turned left, then right, then left again. The Doctor was annoyed. "We just walked in a complete circle. What was the point?"

"To annoy you," I smirked. The Doctor glared at my back.

I stopped in front of a life size statue of in human eyes would look like the Grim Reaper. The statue was cloaked in robes and held a scythe.

"Why is it in two-no, wait, three- showcases?" asked Amy. "Are you worried someone might steal it? They'd died before finding the library,"

Doctor's POV

How did she get her hands on that statue? I stepped closer to it, Emma warning me not to touch the show case. I faced Amy. "The reason why she has it in three showcases is because it is no ordinary statue. This is bad. I was hoping it was destroyed with Galifrey. Or at least floating in space, unable to get to Earth or any other planet with life," I faced Emma. "How the hell did you get your hands on this statue?"

"I was appointed its caretaker," she said.

"Oh, god," I muttered.

"Excuse me," said Amy, "but what is so important about this statue? Okay, maybe it's the Grim Reaper-"

Emma butted in. "It's not the Grim Reaper. It's much, much more dangerous. It's the prison of a she-demon. That's why it's trapped in three showcases. And that's why I'm its caretaker. To prevent it from escaping," she looked at me. "Should we tell her the legend? She'd understand better,"

"Yeah, tell her," I agreed. Emma faced Amy and began:

"A long time, when I-well, the Doctor and I- were children, a girl- well, Time Lord- wander into the woods by her house on Galifrey-"

"There's woods on Galifrey?" interrupted Amy.

"No, you're right, the Doctor and I grew up on a barren wasteland," Emma rolled her eyes. "Let me finish. She went into the woods, at night, for no reason. Her sister woke up and saw her sister's bed was empty. She looked out the window and saw a shadowy figure. She ran outside and saw that it was her sister. But the girl was different. She was dressed like you see her now, black robes and holding a scythe. Her eyes were a deep red, with pupils like cat's, and her skin was milky white. Her sister ran inside, woke up her mother, and called a hospital-and, yes, Amy, there are hospitals on Galifrey, before you asked. But the girl refused to let go of her scythe. She killed the doctor's and her mother-"

"Doctor, were you there?" asked Amy.

"Am I dead? No. Besides, I was six," I said.

"Will you let me finish? Anyways, she killed everyone except her sister. There was poison on the blade, a rare poison, but deadly, like, the minute it gets into your bloodstream, you die. Well, unless you are a TARDIS,but I'm pretty sure TARDIS's don't have blood. They built a prison for the she-demon, and she remains there to this day,"

Emma paused and then said, "When you are talking about her, call her the Child, for that was her name,"

Amy asked," I'm sorry, but I noticed that the Doctor and the Child have weird, nonhuman names, but-"

I interrupted. "Are you calling my name weird?"

"Well, for humans," Amy explained.

"But I'm a Time Lord. Therefor, it's not weird. Keep your comments to yourself,"

Amy rolled her eyes. "As I was saying, how come the Doctor and the Child have names that aren't names, but titles, on Earth, but you, Emma, have a, well, human name?"

Emma shrugged. "I never remembered my name. I just was refered to as Emma. That's all. No biggie,"

"Okaay, forget I asked. It doesn't matter. Really, it doesn't," Amy said.

Rory's POV

I heard the TARDIS, like Amy, but she ran out, not waiting for me. I sighed, and followed, but the minute I got out there, she, the Doctor, and this girl had gone into this safe that was with the Doctor. Of course. I sighed and jiggled the door handle. Locked. A surge of energy ran though it, up my arm, knocking me down. I was stunned. How did they get in without getting electrocuted?

Then the Doctor was by me, using his sonic screwdriver to bleep me. "Rory, are you alright?" asked Amy.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just got electrocuted. That's all," I shoved away the Doctor's hand and sat up. The girl was by my side. "The defense system never turns off. Sorry, mate. I've just got a stupid TARDIS. And an old TARDIS. So so sorry," she extended her hand to help me up. I ignored it. "Did you say TARDIS?" I grunted.

"Long story. What's your name?" the girl asked. "Mine's Emma,"

"Rory, she's a Time Lord. Like the Doctor. And she's got a TARDIS, too!" said Amy.

"Rory, that's your name? I like it. It seems Roman," the girl- Emma- mused.

"I wonder why," I muttered. "Amy, I kinda figured that it was a TARDIS. No offense," I added.

"None taken. I hope you weren't electrocuted too bad," Amy said.

Doctor's POV

Nobody noticed me slinking back into my TARDIS until Emma looked over. "Where you going, mate? Just gonna introduce me and leave? Not very nice," she grinned. I shrugged.

"Can we come?" asked Amy.

"Yeah, sure. Oh, and Emma, you need to show Rory something," I added, stepping back into the TARDIS, ignoring Emma shouting, "Alright, just don't leave-" but the door shut and I was on my way.

Emma's POV

That idiot is going to pay for running off. I swear, when I get my revenge, it will not be pretty.

That didn't matter. I had to show Rory the Child. I unlocked the door and stepped in. "How did you manage that without getting electrocuted?" demanded Rory.

"The defense system only kicks in when the door is locked. Don't worry, you're not the first- the Doctor got the same treatment, and much more painful, since he used his screwdriver," I laughed. "Come along, Rory!" I went into the TARDIS. Rory followed. I flew up a staircase and down a hall. I continued this until I reached the library. "I showed the Doctor and Amy the same thing," I explained. I ran towards the Child.

"What is that?" said Rory.

"Call it the Child. My prize possesion,"

"Is that why it's locked up so tight?"

"No-and I'm not being sarcastic- it's actually the prison of a she-demon, the Child,"

"It looks like a statue of the Grim Reaper,"

"Same thing Amy said. Are you two sibilings?"

"Um, no. Husband and wife," Rory said.

"Congrats. Seriously. Anyway..." and I explained the whole story of the Child to Rory. "So do not touch the showcases for any reason, okay? Okay. Good? Good. Glad we came to an agreement," and I left, Rory following behind. I walked back to the control room. "Time to find that jerk of a Doctor. He will pay for leaving. He will," I muttered. I pulled the screen in front of me. "Okay. He is in Manhattan. Great to know," I pulled the TARDIS into flight and chased after the Doctor.
