Chapter 11

"What's wrong with Wolfpaw?" Ravenflight begged Ravenwing.

"He's just stressing," Ravenwing reassured her. "He's had a tough few days."

"And what do I do about that?" Ravenflight questioned.

"Nothing. He'll come around. But let him rest."

"What about my parents?" Ravenflight hadn't thought about her mother, Luckystar, and her dead father, Rainfall, for a while.

"You shouldn't have found out," Ravenwing growled.

Ravenflight flinched. That was the first time Ravenwing had seemed...dangerous.

"Sorry," she murmured. It was too late. StarClan disappeared and she woke up next to Larkleaf.

"How's your leg, Larkleaf?" she mewed to the older she-cat.

"Healing. I can almost run." Larkleaf purred, her green eyes bright.

"That's good. Will you train as a warrior again?" Willowshine joined in, awake from her dreams.

"She won't!" Jayfeather snarled. "I'm getting old, and ThunderClan needs a medicine cat."

Larkleaf looked slightly abashed. "Sorry," she murmured.

"I'm going to head back," Ravenflight announced. "Wolfpaw won't be able to look after the whole Clan by himself."

"I agree." Littlecloud said, his voice soft with age.

"Let's go, then." Puddleshine dipped his head to the other medicine cats before leading Littlecloud back towards the ShadowClan camp.

"We'll be off," Willowshine said next, breaking the silence.

"Bye," Briarpaw waved her tail.

"Bye," Ravenflight nodded her goodbye.

She travelled back to the WindClan camp by herself, running through the moors. Movement in front of her caught her eye. A rabbit! She pounced forwards, racing after it as it fled in terror. She caught it, her sharp claws ripping through the flesh. Ravenflight tore at it in a fury, releasing all her rage, horror and shock from the last few days.

When the red mist faded from her vision, she glanced down at the rabbit and saw that it was gone. Blood pooled around her paws; the flesh scattered among the grass. Growling softly, she turned and went back to the camp.

"Did StarClan say anything?" Wolfpaw was already in his nest, turned away from the entrance.

"No," Ravenflight replied. "Not that you should care anyways," she spun around into the herb store.

"Hey, wait." Wolfpaw lifted his head up. Ravenflight paused.

"I was just pulling your tail, you know? All the grumpiness and stuff. I'm really glad to have you back."

Ravenflight felt herself explode. Red mist appeared in the edges of her vision.

"HOW COULD YOU? I WAS CONCERNED FOR YOU!" Ravenflight yowled. "HOW COULD YOU BETRAY ME LIKE THAT?"

Wolfpaw cowered back as Ravenflight's claws slashed down towards him. How she wished to tear...to rip...to kill.

"Stop!" A broad body pushed her back. Ravenflight shook her head repeatedly. Crowstar's black pelt stood in front of her, his green eyes gleaming with rage.

"What are you doing?" he hissed.

"I was...just really mad." Ravenflight hissed back. She ran out of the den, her ears folded back and her tail tucked underneath her body.

What did I do?

Ravenflight woke up by herself somewhere on the moor. She had made up her mind last night, before she went to sleep. Never had she felt so isolated, so alone.

"Then I'll seek company," she said aloud. "I'll find Ebonywind and Amberclaw."

---

"Pssst." Ravenflight tried to get Ebonywind's attention. "Psssssst!"

"Ravenflight?" Ebonywind peered at the gap in the hedges.

"I need to talk to you!" Ravenflight said urgently.

"Fine, but not here," Ebonywind growled.

Ebonywind led Ravenflight to a secluded corner of the ShadowClan camp.

"What do you want?" Ravenflight winced. Her question was not unlike Wolfpaw's awhile ago.

"To talk. I figured out something while I was unconscious." Ravenflight told Ebonywind the whole story about Luckystar and Rainfall being their parents.

"So that makes us siblings," Ravenflight finished.

"No way," Ebonywind breathed.

"It's true." She insisted.

"I believe you. It all makes sense. They told me that I was found on the edge of ThunderClan territory." Ebonywind nodded. "Have you told Amberclaw?"

"No, not yet," Ravenflight admitted. "I was hoping you'd come with me."

"I will," Ebonywind promised. "Let's go."

Ravenflight took Ebonywind around to RiverClan territory. "Wait here, I'll bring her," she ordered.

"Okay," Ebonywind agreed.

Ravenflight crept through reed beds, staying silent and stealthy. "Amberclaw?" she hissed.

"What are you doing here, Ravenflight?" A voice growled.

"Amberclaw! I know who our parents are!" Ravenflight mewed excitedly.

"Our?" Amberclaw replied suspiciously.

"We're sisters! When I was unconscious, long story, our mother gave us up otherwise the Clans would fall!" Ravenflight explained.

"Then...who's our parents?"

"Come. You need to meet your other sister." Ravenflight pushed Amberclaw to where Ebonywind was waiting.

"Sister!" Ebonywind cried upon seeing Amberclaw's ginger pelt.

"Sister?" Amberclaw repeated in disbelief.

"Our mother was Luckystar, and our father a rogue named Rainfall. He had a ginger pelt as well!" The words rushed out of Ebonywind's mouth.

"And we were split up at birth because of a prophecy!" Ravenflight added.

"Do you believe us?" Ebonywind pressed.

"I...I don't know. We should ask Luckystar...shouldn't we?" Amberclaw stammered.

Ravenflight was a little disappointed. She'd been expecting more excitement and joy.

"We can. Let's go now!" Ravenflight mewed excitedly.

"Let's go!" Amberclaw's eyes glowed.

"A patrol," Ebonywind whispered.

"I know," Amberclaw murmured back.

"We're going to confront them," Ravenflight mewed firmly.

"Who made you our leader?" Amberclaw shot back.

Ravenflight glared at her until Amberclaw backed down.

"Fine, fine," she muttered.

"Good," Ravenflight said decisively before padding out from behind the bush.

"WindClan intruder!" a ginger she-cat hissed, arching her back.

"I told you I smelt WindClan!" A cat, Duskpelt, Ravenflight remembered, growled, Skyheart at her side.

"Hush, Duskpelt, Dawnmist." A black she-cat mewed. "I'm Hollyleaf. Why have you come to ThunderClan territory?"

"I wish to speak to Luckystar." Ravenflight stood her ground. "And my two companions wish to as well."

Ebonywind and Amberclaw stepped out from behind the bush, earning hisses from Dawnmist.

"RiverClan and ShadowClan?" Duskpelt blinked slowly. "Have they all formed an alliance against us?"

"Don't be silly," Hollyleaf was quick to add. "It's the three youngsters who went off on the quest."

"Right," Dawnmist muttered, shooting suspicious looks at Ebonywind especially. "ShadowClan has never liked us. Why should we welcome them into our home?"

"Dawnmist! I'm the leader of this patrol, and I'm going to bring them into the camp to speak with Luckystar." Hollyleaf won the silent argument between them.

"Skyheart, warn the camp," Duskpelt hissed to her former apprentice.

Skyheart nodded, her green eyes flicking around warily before she dashed off.

"Honestly!" Ebonywind rolled her eyes, exasperated.

They were marched through the thick undergrowth. Ravenflight shivered. How could anyone live here, so enclosed, with no wind in your fur?

A golden-brown pelt met them in the leader's den. Ravenflight, Ebonywind and Amberclaw's eyes all widened as they talked to their mother for the first time.
