Adryana Spade is a tale of destruction, a reaper of damned souls, and a girl so heartless that even Inej Ghafa found no need to pray to the Saints about her. For no Saint could save Adryana Spade from herself.

Jesper Fahey didn't believe that for a second.

Of course she wasn't being called Sankta Adryana in her past time, he wasn't that much of a fool, but when they first met, something about her had called out to him. Like a dimming light in the dark finally finding a reigniting spark, he was drawn to her. He didn't know if it was her conniving grin or the glow behind her devilish eyes but he knew there was more to her than the bloodstained walls of her façade.

Adryana never believed it was possible to see the illumination of humanity again, to find a heartbeat in what she thought was her hollowed out chest. Yet somehow, Jesper Fahey, the most unlikely surprise she'd ever know, kindled something inside of her that made the darkness of her demons fall away when he was near. He gave her something she hadn't known for a long time.

A flicker of hope.

A flame of searing light that would show her that she was more than just the phantom of shadows she had become. Adryana had tried to push it all away, she tried to capture the flame and extinguish it before it shone a light on the depths of her past she would've preferred to keep locked away for the rest of her days. She did everything she possibly could to shut Jesper out.

It never worked. It didn't matter how deep the shadows ran or what horrors laid inside them, he wasn't going to run from her darkness. Jesper Fahey may have been a shit gambler but he knew Adryana Spade had something left to fight for, and he was willing to put every card on the table to prove it.
