A L M I R A
Chapter 10
Ambrielle Whitherspoon
I tapped my pencil in the conference room, waiting for Calix to show up. It was early in the morning, just before sunrise, and he woke us all up for an emergency meeting. I was still yawning and rubbing my eyes due to being up earlier than usual. Almira was practicing a lot magic yesterday and her magical energy was unusual. It kept me up part of the night and just when I was going to sleep, Calix suddenly wants to have a meeting. What about is unclear to everyone sitting in this room.
Calix walked through the door looking distressed. I raised an eyebrow and glanced at him, wondering what was wrong. "Okay, I need to get straight to business. Almira."
"What about her?" I asked, leaning my head on my palm.
"I don't know. There's something about her when I get near her, I'm calm. I know shes part witch, what is she doing? Ambrielle, you're the best witch I've got, please tell me you have something or you've felt something coming off from her, please," Calix pleaded, looking at me with hopeful eyes.
"I mean her magical energy is growing, that's a fact. She's learning magic, what did you expect?" I inquired, looking at him with a dumb look.
Calix sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "The other witches around will start to feel her energy and magical waves if this keeps up. They'll come for her and you already know I can't risk losing her. Almira and I will be going on a trip tomorrow to a witch. I want her to read Almira's energy or whatever she has to do. Until then, I want somebody with Almira constantly, I don't want her getting taken from me again," Calix ordered, standing up.
He walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him. I glanced at Cole to see him smiling oddly. "Why are you smiling like that?" I asked, looking at him skeptically.
"Remember Mother's witch when Calix and I were little? How he still doesn't know?" Cole asked, leading on to more information.
I nodded and he continued. "Almira is number five. She's the final happiness," Cole grinned, leaning back in his chair.
"And that weird thing he's feeling is called the mate bond," Alexander chimed in, pulling me close and kissing my temple.

A knock at my door snapped me out of my intense session with the spell books. I've been memorizing spells and hands-on hexes for the last couple of days. I'm not that bad at it.
I got up and opened the door to reveal Calix standing behind it. I went to close the door and he put his hand on it, preventing me from doing so. "Get some clothes and any necessary items, we're going on a road trip, me and you."
My heart sped up at his words and I felt as if my own body was betraying me. I mentally groaned, but nodded at Calix, quickly grabbing a couple dresses, shoes, hair accessories, and spell books and items. I turned to Calix and put the bag on my shoulder. "I'm ready."
Calix nodded and lead me out to where our ride was. I got in before he did and we sat in an uncomfortable silence. I pulled out one of the spell books and began to continue reading.
"It'd be best to inform you of what we're doing. I'm taking you to see a witch I used to know rather well just to check on some things," Calix explained, glancing over at me.
"You mean the magical waves I'm giving off? How you don't want any other king or queen to have the powerhouse of a rare hybrid so you want to keep my waves confined? Lovely try but as long as I'm alive, they'll keep emitting the same exact feeling," I retorted, not bothering to look up at him.
"You know about them?" He asked, turning his full attention to me.
"I would hope so, I am emitting them after all," I answered, flipping the page and memorizing the next spell.
"How?" He persisted.
"Simple: I'm studying magic. It's a common witch thing I read. As long as you are willing to practice magic, you'll emit the waves of what you're practicing. I was smart enough to practice all types of magic so it just seems like a clutter of witches around. They won't be coming for me because of my waves. For all the other witches can tell, you just have your own covenant of witches now," I explained, looking at him.
Calix seemed impressed and surprised by what I said. I thought about this back at Wryler's castle, it's what the girl in the library told me. Calix said no more and was silent the rest of the ride. When we got to the destiantion he had in mind, I looked out at the castle in front of us. Why so many castles?
Once Calix and I got out, I went to take a step and tripped. Calix quickly caught me and shook his head. "I swear, you could trip over your own shadow."
"My shadow is a tricky little bastard, you know? It likes to see me fall to its level," I retaliated, smiling.
Calix snickered and turned away, greeting a lady who had silver hair, pale green eyes, and beautiful skin. "Vira, good to see you."
"Who's this you've brought with you, Cal, my boy?" Vira asked, taking notice of me.
"Vira, this is Almira, she's my mate. I brought her here for you to do your wave check thing or whatever you do. I trust you'll understand what I'm talking about considering we've done this before," Calix commented, looking at Vira expectantly.
Vira nodded. "Bold of you to order me around, young man, but I'll let it pass. You just go catch up with Atlas, I'm sure he'd be happy to see you. Now, Almira, my dear, follow me," Vira called. She turned around and walked into the castle, and I followed behind her.
She lead me into this room lit with candles and had a knife, bowl, and salt. I remember this spell. "Visionary spell?" I questioned, looking at her curiously. Was this the entire purpose of our trip here?
"Correct, my dear. You see, Calix has had many visionary spells on him, but he never knew the results. Of course, I did, because I casted them, but his mother always forbade me from telling him. I can say that the boy has faced lots of troubles and also has a big role in the prophecy to fill in," Vira replied, sitting down and cutting her hand, letting the blood drip in the bowl with the salt.
I sat down across from her and put my hand over the bowl. She cut my hand and I winced, letting my blood drop into the bowl as well.
Vira closed her eyes and began speaking in tongue. "οράματα που αναζητώ να πω, αποκαλύψει τις ιστορίες και τις προφητείες σας για μένα. Δείξε μου τι θέλεις, πες μου, ω Πες μου, οράματα που αναζητώ να χύσω."
Vira was silent for a minute before her eyes widened all of a sudden. She jerked her hand away from mine and gasped before trying to catch her breath.
"Woah, hey, hey, Lady Vira, relax, okay? What did you see?" I cooed, helping her calm down.
Vira looked at me and shook her head. "My child, you are one of a kind, yes?"
"So I've been told before," I retaliated, awaiting what she had to say.
"My dear, you are going to be the best thing for this world. You'll be able to calm ears, ease tension, save mankind. That's your gift. Your gift is peace, you'll do more than help Calix, but help the world," Vira informed me, smiling at me. "Good things are to come, but first you must go through some dark storms to see the light at the end of the tunnel."
I smiled at her. "If you say so."
Vira lead me out of the room and into a big empty room with plenty of space. "I seen you practice magic. Show me," She encouraged.
"Show you? Like, show you what? What do you want me to do?" I panicked, looking at her.
"I want you to decorate this ballroom with flowers and life. I want you to take this dead plant and make it brand new. Do that for me, that is all I ask," Vira warmly asked, smiling at me.
I sighed and took a deep breath before sticking my hands out in the open and closing my eyes. "Με τις δυνάμεις μου, θα ήθελα να μεγαλώσω λουλούδια, λουλούδια τόσο τολμηρά, λουλούδια τόσο χρυσά, λουλούδια τόσο ψηλά, τόσο μικρά λουλούδια."
I opened my eyes to watch the magic happen. Flowers of all kinds appeared and wrapped themselves around the railing and vines and flowers draped from the sides, making me smile.
I looked at the dead plant and sat down on the ground and held the pot the plant was in. "Φέρε τη ζωή πίσω, κάνε την να μεγαλώσει και να ευημερήσει, σε παρακαλώ αποδέξου την προσφορά μου," I chanted before looking at the new healthy plant.
I smiled and looked at Vira who had a smirk on her face. "You truly are what the Goddess said to be," She commented, turning around. "Follow me, my child, we must seek out Calix and Atlas."
I took one last look at the room and smiled before turning around and following Vira.

Calix had decided to stay in the city and talk with old friends for a little longer, so he lead us to his old cottage in the middle of nowhere. I was grateful for him letting me stay in the same proximity as him. As night fell, I grew tired and was yawning every so often.
Calix was in a room doing his royal business or whatever and I knocked on the door. "Hey, um, Calix? I'm tired so I'm going to wash up and go to the couch, you can have your bed. I wouldn't want to take what's rightfully yours," I said, turning around and heading to the bathroom. I took a bath and changed clothes, looking in the mirror. I leaned against the sink, my body tired. I shook my head and leaned against the wall. Was this a side effect of using magic?
I straightened myself up and went into the living room, grabbing the blanket and laying down on the couch. I laid there, watching the fire crack and pop for quite some time before my eyes felt heavy. I blew out the candle and drifted into a peaceful sleep, a small smile on my face.

I woke up all of a sudden, sitting up on the couch. My breath was out of order and my heart was racing. I gasped for air, feeling like I wasn't getting enough. I threw the blanket off of me and lit the candle, holding it as I made my way to the kitchen. I poured myself a glass of water and wiped the sweat from my forehead. I glanced at the counter and seen a piece of paper and a beautiful pendant laying beside it.
I set my cup down and picked up the note, reading it.
This will be of use to you, my dear. You mustn't let this be in anyone's hands but yours. In the wrong hands, things could go bad fast. I trust you will obey these rules and keep this on you at all times. It's quite a lovely pendant, wouldn't you say?
- A
I furrowed my brows in confusion. This is the second note and object I've gotten from "A". Who is A?
I looked at the pendant and it sparkled in the candle's lighting. It was a silver band with a diamond in it, surrounded by miniature diamonds and more silver. It was beautiful and I could feel the high magic waves radiating off of it. I put it on and adjusted it to my preference before smiling.
