CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

"I've seen what you truly are and never turned away."

KLAUS bit into a woman's wrist as Rebekah and I sat opposite to him. I lifted my cup of tea to my lips, and watched as the man I was still in love with, drink from a girl who wasn't me. Between us is a table full of food. "Have you spoken to our good friend Marcel today?" Klaus asked casually as I stared between the two of them.

"No, should I have?" Rebekah asked, huffing slightly.

"He's been misteriously silent - avoiding me, some might say. I thought perhaps he may have whispered reasons into your ear. Along with all of those sweet nothings," Klaus told his sister with a smirk. His blue eyes glancing over at me every once in a while.

"You and Marcel?" I asked Rebekah in disgust. I don't know why she likes him, from what I've heard about him, I don't like him. She just playfully glared at me.

"If I see him I'll be sure to ask if he's still sore at you." She ignored my question, but replied back to Klaus.

"Let me give a voice to that look in your eyes. My saintly noble brother lies writhing in agony in the bayou, victim of my bastard-brother's-bite, when just one or two drops of his blood would ease his pain," Klaus tried impersonating Rebekah, taking a seat in his chair.

"On the contrary, Nik, I am simply enjoying my breaky waiting for Elijah's healthy return," She stated with a tight smile.

"Oh, come on," Klaus said as he leaned forward in his seat. "Rebekah, you've been giving me the devil's eye all morning. Out with it!" He told his sister, pointing a finger at her.

"Perhaps I'm concerned that if I voice my opinion about what you did to Elijah, I will end up on the wrong side of your toxic hybrid teeth," She told her brother, angrily.

He slapped his hand on the table and pointed at her with his eyebrows raised. "Poppycock!" He shouted. "I would never bite you. Elijah made some very offensive accusations about my intentions towards my child," He then glanced at me. "He deserves a day or two of discomfort." He slightly raised his hand to get his point across. "Besides, you know my preferred method of punishment for your indiscretions is the dagger."

Rebekah smirked as she got up from the chair. She leaned across the table so she was in his face. "There is something fundamentally wrong with you." She left the room, leaving Klaus and I alone at the table.

I sighed and hesitantly placed my hand on his shoulder.

"It's all going to be okay. . . Nik," I told him, getting up from my seat to make my way into my bedroom.

KLAUS disappeared somewhere so I was all alone in the mansion.

I sighed as I made my into the kitchen. I opened up the freezer and pulled out an ice cream carton. I grabbed a spoon and got a spoon full of ice cream. As I was about to put it in my mouth, someone knocked on the door.

"If it's you Josh, I will strangle you to death," I said as I opened up the door. But who was behind the door was what surprised me.

"Hello, Spencer."

My eyes were wide as I was then bombarded by arms. My brother and bestfriend arms. "Oh, my god," I muttered. "What are you guys doing here."

"Waiting to be invited in," Came a snark reply from the very strawberry blonde who my brother was once so obsessed with.

"How did you find me?" I asked them, shocked. I haven't talked to them in a while due to my recent predicaments.

"We went to Mystic Falls for a surprise visit," Allison stated and that's when I looked over at her. She was holding Stiles' hand, a soft smile on her face. She looked really content. "To our surprise, you weren't there. Elena said you ran off after Klaus disappeared. We were really worried because we knew how much you loved him. So, we got Bonnie to do a locator spell, she was hesitant, but we made her anyway. That's how we found you in New Orleans."

"We then asked around town and here we are!" Stikes exclaimed, a smile on his face.

"But, why are you here?" Scott questioned, worried.

I turned away from them and made my way to the kitchen, the pack trailing after me. "After Klaus left me, I ran into a friend. She wanted to find her birth parents so we went looking, ending up here. Turns out, witches wanted Klaus here, so they kidnapped us. And guess what, they figured out something." I grabbed my ice cream carton and took a bite of ice cream as I looked at Scott, waiting for him to listen in on the extra heart beat.

"You're pregnant!?" He shouted which made Stiles a sputtering mess, his eyes wide in disbelief.

"You're having a baby?" Malia furrowed her eyebrows.

I nodded. "Yup." I took another spoonful of ice cream. "So . . . Yeah." I shrugged, sitting down, watching their expressions.

"Is it Klaus'?" Allison asked, walking over to me, her dark brown eyes soft.

I nodded. "Yeah." I clicked my tongue. "He's out and about, doing whatever Klaus does. Probably tormenting Marcel for all I know, but whatever. Hayley is out with Elijah who Klaus not -- long story." I let out an exaggerated breath as a thought crossed my mind. "I don't understand why people think just because a girl is pregnant, they're fragile and weak. I'm none of those things." I looked at their expressions and shut my mouth, realizing that I was ranting. "I'll shut up now." I took another spoonful of ice cream, moaning at the taste.

Stiles, Scott, Allison, Lydia, and Malia all looked at eachother, knowing that they weren't going to leave Spencer, especially since she's pregnant.

AT night time, a feeling washed over me. It was like the baby knew something I didn't.

I felt my body lead me to the door of the mansion, and I allowed it.

"What are you doing?" Stiles asked, grabbing my hand, stopping me from going any further.

"Something feels. . .off," I told him as I brushed passed him and made my way to Marcel's yard. I knew that the pack was following me but I chose to ignore them.

When we got to where my body was telling me to go, I saw Klaus, Marcel and Rebekah. But, to my own shock, Rebekah was by Marcel's side.

"Look at you. Finally in possesion of the one thing that can take you down. How does it feel?" I heard Klaus ask Rebekah who looked ready to kill.

I stood back in the shadows, glancing at the pack. They probably see how worried I was.

"Great," Rebekah commented, smirking.

Marcel then whistled, and all of a sudden, vampires showed up, surrounding Klaus.

"So this is it? The evil bastard Klaus has gone too far. Must be punished. And by his own sibling, nonetheless. How positively biblical. And you, Marcel, is this--" He pointed at the vampires. "Your idea of a hit? I taught you better than this poultry excuse for a takedown. Do you think you can subdue me - with this!?" He was angry now.

"No. But I think I can with this," Marcel stated, smirking. He whistled again. More vampires appeared.

At the look on Klaus' face, I stepped out of the shadows, angry. "What the hell is going on!?" I yelled, mostly looking at Rebekah. "Are you seriously picking the side of someone you barely know over your own brother?"

"Spencer, get out of here!" Klaus shouted. His face contorted from anger to fear.

I growled as Scott grabbed me, pulling me away from the fight that was about to break out. I struggled against his hold, but I was stronger because of all of my training.

"Let's end this charade, shall we?" Klaus asked as he looked at Marcel. "Vampires of New Orleans! Do recall that I am an Original. A hybrid. I cannot be killed." He paused for a dramatic flare. "Eternity is an awfully long time. How long, do you think, Marcel will stay in power? What if one of you lot were to release me, knowing I will be eternally in your debt?" He looked around at the vampires. "Oh, I would pity those of you who dared to cross me. I can assure you, your ends would be spectacular. To borrow a trick from an old friend." He streched out a hand with a coin in it. "Whoever picks up... this coin... gets to live." He dropped the coin. "Now which of you magnificent bastards wants to join me?" He asked with a smirk, looking towards Rebekah and Marcel.

"Anyone wants that coin, pledge allegiance to Klaus. Take it now. Go ahead," Marcel said as he looked at his vampires. "The choice is yours."

No one moved, except Klaus who was slightly astonished that no one picked up the coin. Marcel looked at him, proud of the loyalty his minions showed.

"Take him," Marcel demanded.

Some vampires tried to take down Klaus, but he killed them easily. He snapped one of their spines as if it was plastic. Klaus stretched out both hands with a smirk on his face. Some vampires then tried to chain him.

But the thing is, Klaus was still stronger than all his attackers. He snapped necks, bent legs, but they finally managed to take him down . They literally ganged up on him, they were kicking his sides and punching his face. They chained him up on the wall, his head hanging low.

When he rose his head, his golden hybrid eyes could be seen. He was growling deeply which was, honestly, so hot.

I looked over at Rebekah who was paralyzed by disbelief. She dropped the dagger in fear and started backing up. Klaus stared at Rebekah and Marcel in anger. Klaus rose again and continued killing vampires.

He hit, kicked, punched and bit into vampires.

By this point, I was so utterly angry that I head-butted Scott and stomped on his foot, making him release me.

I didn't care that I was pregnant -- I was going to help Klaus and make sure that he was going to survive.

There was a vampire coming up from behind Klaus so I ran, grabbed the vampires head, as I was flipping over him, I snapped his neck.

Klaus turned around and smirked at me.

A vampire came up from behind me and tried strangling me, but I turned around and sunk my teeth into their neck, ripping out their jugular.

I stepped away and wiped my mouth. "I just took Derek's catchphrase to a whole new level," I muttered before turning around to Klaus.

"Marcel!" I heard Klaus' voice echo. "Come and finish this!" He yelled again, killing yet another vampire. Marcel was about to run to Klaus, but Rebekah held him back.

"No! Take the coin!" I could hear her say to him.

A vampire came and snarled at me. Before the vampire could do anything, she was thrown off of me by none other than Scott. I smiled at him, my eyes flashing blue which made a few vampires step back in fear.

"Enough!" Marcel yelled.

Everybody stopped what they were doing. It went utterly silent as if we weren't just fighting. Marcel slowly walked towards the coin and picked it up.

"Well, well, well. The great Marcel, self-proclaimed king of New Orleans, bowing before me," Klaus stated, looking down at Marcel.

I smirked in satisfaction. Even at his worst, I still couldn't hate him.

"There," Marcel said in sadness, throwing the coin at Klaus' feet. "I hereby pledge my allegiance to you. You have the keys to my kingdom. It's yours." Marcel looked about in tears and so did Rebekah.

I knew that she was going to have to pay what she did to Klaus, but I hope it won't be bad because I considered her a friend.

Klaus smiled in satisfaction.

"HAYLEY, you're back!" I exclaimed and hugged her. She hugged me back with a smile on her face. "I'm sorry for leaving you and Elijah in the Bayou, you guys just don't understand," I tried explaining but she shook her head.

"It's fine," She told me and I nodded. "Plus, it helped Elijah and I bond more," she said, smiling.

"So, this is the friend?" Lydia asked as the pack walked over to us.

Hayley looked to me, confused for a second before it clicked.  "Is this your pack?"

I nodded. "Not all, but some," I told her. "The most important once, in my opinion."

Hayley smiled at them. "Hi. I heard so much about you. I'm Hayley, by the way."

"ELIJAH'S home, there's only one dagger. Which one of us will you be punishing today?" Rebekah asked as she walked into the room that Klaus was in, looking at the dagger that was in his hands.

"I contemplated a game of eenie-meenie-miney-moe." He stated and then vamp sped to her, putting her in a head lock type thing. "You betrayed me. My own sister!" He exclaimed in disbelief and anger.

"Niklaus, don't you dare!" Elijah yelled at his brother as he made it into the room.

"Perhaps it should be you, brother!" Klaus yelled as he turned around, pointing the dagger at Elijah. "Stealing my child away with every fawning moment of tenderness you show to Spencer!" He yelled in sadness and anger.

"This has nothing to do with Spencer," Elijah told his brother, shaking his head.

Klaus pointed with the dagger at Elijah. "It has everything to do with her!" He yelled. "She's adored you ever since you guys met, which was before she met me! And now my child, my blood will grow up to call you father!" His voice raising with every word, he was holding back tears that threatened to fall.

"Is that what this is? You are once again worried that you will be left behind. Has history taught you nothing? We don't abandon you, Nik, you drive us away!" Rebekah yelled at her brother, also holding back tears.

"Is that so?" Klaus rhetorically asked. "What have I done lately, other than cooperate?" He asked no one in particular. "I bow down to you, brother." A tear than fell from his eye. "To make up for daggering you. For the greater good of our plan to reclaim our home," He explained to his brother, then turned to Rebekah.

"Look the other way, sister. While you repeat the same cycle with Marcel, falling again for a man you shouldn't be with, while he controls the empire that we built! That he took! Now, I make no excuses for past sins. But in the one moment when you two could have chosen to stand by me - to believe in me - to believe my intentions for my own child were pure. You chose to stand against me, to side with my enemies. I wanted our home back. Now I have it. So I'm going to live there. And the two of you... you can stay here together..." Another tear fell from his eyes. "And rot." He handed the dagger to Elijah, who took it. Klaus then left to go outside.

"YOU'RE coming with me, love, along with your pack," Klaus announced to us as he passed us as we all sat on the front porch steps. "You too, if you want, little wolf."

"Why would I go anywhere with you?" Hayley asked him as I already started to stand up, the pack following my movements.

"Because, Hayley, that child your fiend carries is the only thing on this earth that matters to me, besides her. Now you can fight me on this, but you will lose," He told her which made me smile. He opened the car door. "As will anyone else who tries to stop you getting in this car," He added and looked at me as Hayley got in the back seat.

"I heard what you said in there Klaus," I told him, looking at him with sad eyes. "No matter what, I will be by your side." I then got in the car, brushing my fingers on his hand on purpose. He closed the door as he was trying to hide the smile that was on his face.
