CHAPTER FOUR

"Control your emotions."

So, basically, hanging out with Nik, I foud out two things: 1) there is a fucking cure for vampirism, and 2) Nik had daggered Rebekah.

I had punched him so hard that the bones in my fingers had popped. I then apologized as I realized that I had hurt him in a pit of rage. I mean, I guess it wasn't as bad as me stabbing him in the chest, buut... still, I had hurt him, also hurting me in the process. It made me wonder why stabbing him didn't hurt me... but punching him did. Maybe it was because I wasn't bonded with him since he left me and now I am. I don't know, I don't know why it hurts me when he gets hurt. It's all so confusing and irritating.

It doesn't matter now seeing as Nik is off somewhere trying to find something to help find the cure. Surprisingly, he asked me if he was allowed to go on this adventure and I allowed him. He had asked me if I wanted to go; of course I did, but I didn't want to leave my family so I told him that I would be waiting for his return.

My thoughts were interrupted as Damon's phone beeped with a text. I tilted my head and laid my head on his shoulder. The text read: Hunter at Mystic Grill with hostages. They all die at sundown. I glanced over at me and he nodded his head. We jumped off of my bed and ran to Elena's room. We explained what the text said.

And that is what led us to all meeting up in the living room, Damon being the one who was making the plan.

"So we each take a different entrance, hit him at the same time." As Damon slapped his fist down onto the palm of his hand, Stefan entered the room.

"Stefan." Elena breathed out a sigh of relief and walked towards him, and ge embraced her. I rolled my eyes and turned to Damon, fake gagging. Stefan and Elena are cute, yes, but I do not ship them. I ship Delena more than Stelena. Personally, I ship Steroline over Stelena.

Damon glared at his brother, "Where the hell have you been?"

Stefan shrugged and tried to play it cool but it was obviously a facade. I crossed my arms, knowing that he knew about the cure due to Nik telling me. "Coming up with a plan." He had replied, furrowing his eyebrows at my knowing face.

Damon rolled his eyes, "Yeah, we have a plan. The plan is I'm going to rip Connor's heart out and I am going to feed it to him." I clapped and pointed to Damon in agreement. Connor had taken Jeremy, my little cousin. I wasn't going to stand with that.

Stefan shook his head at his brother, "That's not a plan. We need to be careful. Connor has Jeremy and who knows how many other hostages."

I clicked my tongue, "Hence the open heart surgery." I commented, "Damon's right. Connor's strong, but he's not going to be able to take all of us." I smiled, "plus, I called in a few hybrids to help, too."

Caroline entered, a little flustered, "My mom put squad cars blocking the streets. They're saying it's a faulty gas main. We're good to go."

I clapped my hands excitedly, "yay! This is so fucking awesome!" I grinned as Damon nodded in agreement.

"Good. Great. No cop, no witnesses, no reason to wait around." Damon rubbed his hands together impatiently.

"All right, hold on," Stefan had his hands out, turning his body around so he was looking at all of us, "you're not all going."

"He shot me like 9 times." Tyler commented which made me roll my eyes. He was only shot once. "If we're killing him, I want in."

Elena and I shared a look, "He's got Jeremy, we're going."

Stefan scuffed, annoyed, "Listen, nobody is going anywhere until I figure out what we're walking into."

I nodded my head, pursing my lips, "I can see where you're coming from, Stefan." He nodded at me and went to talk but I continued, "This guy's known for setting traps. We'd be pretty dumb to walk into one, especially if he has werewolf venom." At Elena's questioning face, I continued, "Nik had told me a little about The Five as much as he could seeing as he wanted to vaguely answer me like the assbutt he is." I sighed. "But anyway. He is dangerous so we need a little more help."

Damon sighed, seeing why we need to wait it out. "Fine. Fine." He groaned, "So where the hell's the wicked witch of the west?"

Caroline shook her head, "She can't do magic."

I scrunched up my face, trying to control my emotions. "Really? The one time I actually need her?" I rolled my eyes, irritated, "Well, call her, tell her Jeremy's life is in danger. Maybe that'll bring her out of retirement."

I turned to Damon who brought out a plan for a building of some sort. "What is that for?" Elena and I walked over to him.

"It's our way in, courtesy of Alaric Saltzman's interest in the Mystic Falls Underground Railroad."

Elena scrunched up her eyebrows, "The tunnels, like the ones in the Lockwood cellar."

Damon nodded, "Yep." He took out his phone and took a picture of it. As he did so, Elena's phone rung.

Elena answered it as I listened in. "What did you find out?"

It was Stefan. "I could only make out the voices."

"How many hostages?"

"Three. But, guys, it's Matt. And April young."

I slammed my hand on the table. "What!?"

Damon groaned in annoyance, "Those two idiots. They're like danger magnets."

"So true." I muttered.

Elena was pacing now, "We have to get them out of there."

"Yeah, I just need a little more time."

"The clock's ticking, brother."

Stefan sighed, "You know, I could do without the color commentary." He hung up.

"I'm going in these tunnels." Elena stated, about to walk away but I grabbed her harshly.

I shook my head, "No, you're not. This guy doesn't know that you're a vampire. Let's keep it that way." I tilted my head, "I'm going. I can offer to trade myself in exchange for the hostages." As Damon opened his mouth, I continued, "and he won't figure me out mostly because both vervain and werewolf venom does not bother me." Damon shook his head, disagreeing. "I can handle myself, Damon. I've trained with both you and Alaric. I've also trained with my friend Derek when I visit my family back in Beacon Hills."

Damon scuffed, "So what? Now you're going to take on a professional killer?" I saw him eye the gun so I quickly ran for it as he did.

I grabbed it first, wrapped my legs around his neck, and slung him to the ground, the gun pointed at his chest. "Bang, you're dead." I smirked. "If I can take a one hundred something year old vampire, I can take on a twenty something year old hunter." I pushed myself off of him. "That's my cousin in there, my little cousin, Damon. If I don't save him, then how can I save myself?"

He grabbed my face gently, his eyes full of concern, "We'll get him out. I promise."

A

pproached the grill, clenching my hands tightly. There was an explosion and it scared me to death. We had found out -- after Stefan vervained Damon and Wolfsbaned me -- that he wasn't on our side. I was angry especially by the fact that I could only hear three heart beats in Mystic Grill when there should be Five. That led me to the realization that Jeremy was still inside.

Elena and Damon were stuck in the apartment mostly because Stefan had taken Damon's sunlight ring while I took Elena's to make sure she wouldn't follow me. This was a job for an angry werewolf cousin.

I came up to the door and listened in, Stefan's voice filled my ears. "Listen to me. If you die right now, then your whole life, all that killing, it will all be for nothing. I can give you the truth. Put down the gun and let Jeremy go."

I entered and acted like an innocent person, and begged, "Please! Don't hurt him." I took a discreet step closer. "He's my family, the little family I have left. Don't take him away from me."

"You hear that? Your girl's cousin is watching. I will shoot the boy right in front of her!" My eyes widened as I realized that he wasn't kidding. "On the count of three! 1... 2..." Stefan stepped out, raising his hands.

I ran at Connor, punching him across the face so hard that he flipped and landed on his back. He groaned in pain but recovered quickly and shot me in the stomach. My eyes widened and I held my stomach in shock which gave him enough time to push me off of him. He got on top of me and grabbed a stake, ready to stake me in the heart.

The bomb exploded which gave me enough motivation to flip us over, the stake now in my hand. I grunted, trying to stake him like he did me but he jabbed me on the wound, and I ended up losing my grip on the stake. He straddled me and started punching me over and over again. Then, all of a sudden, Stefan swooshed forward and three him off of me.

As I got up after Stefan helped me, I saw that they were no where in sight.

"Spencer!" I jumped up and ran towards Jeremy who had a few nails in his shoulder.

My eyes widened and I grabbed his hand, feeling the pain flow through him to me. I grunted, closing my eyes. Jeremy tugged his hand away from mine, shaking his head. Tears flowed down my cheeks as I looked at his hurt figure. "How did this happen, Jer? Why did Connor come after you?"

Jeremy grunted, trying to sit up straighter, "He said I was like him, because I could see his tattoo."

I scrunched up my face in confusion. "His what?"

Jeremy grunted again in pain. I ignored his protests as I grabbed his hand again, taking away his pain. "His hunter's mark. It's invisible to everyone but me. Stefan and Damon didn't tell you about it? Not even Klaus?"

I shook my head, frowning. "No. Who else knows about this?"

Jeremy chuckled humorlessly, "Well, that's the thing. I don't even know. Apparently I was with Connor all day yesterday, but I can't remember. Someone compelled me."

I sighed, disappointed and angry. "I think I know who."

I let out a shaky breath before running down to the tunnels to find Connor. I was completely blinded by rage; Connor almost shot Jeremy, actually shot me, and made a bomb explode which hurt Jeremy in the process.

As Connor turned around, stumbling, I was right there in front of him. I reached forward, grabbed his neck, and pushed him up against the wall, my yellow beta eyes on display. I growled, my claws attracting, piercing into the flesh of his neck. I flung him into the opposite wall and grabbed his head between my hands. "I don't want Jeremy or anyone I love to be the victim anymore." I stated before snapping his neck.

I stared down at the body, "I didn't want to be the victim anymore." I whispered to myself before reality hit me like a million bricks.

My eyes widened and I fell to the tunnel floor, my eyes glued to the body. I closed my eyes as a strangled cry left my lips before I was full on crying.

I opened my eyes and loud out a loud roar.

My eyes were no longer the color of the sun... now they were a cold steel blue.
