New Years Day
I expected a lot from my first day in my new school, most of all I was damn happy to get away from all the snobby kids and even more snobby teachers at private school, convinced they are the best thing that ever happened to humanity.
Public school made a chaotic first impression.
People were running through the corridors, wearing their own clothes instead if school uniforms.
I made it through the first two classes, biology and Math without any big incidents. I was asked to introduce myself and then ignored for the most part.
Nobody had really awoken my interest, so I stayed by myself. That changed in english class.
I i looked down at the only two free seats in the last row, one next to a smelly blonde kid. Trying not to cringe I turned the other way, where a dark haired boy sat.
He immediately caught my interest.
The way his hair fell into his face and how he chewed on his lip while drawing something in his sketchbook just pulled me in.
I quickly shuffled into the seat next to him before anyone else could take it, but it didn't seem like he had any friends wanting to join him.
"Hey, whatcha drawing?"
He flinched at my voice and looked up.
"I-uuh just somethin'..." he stuttered nervously and looked away.
Definately an introvert. He didn't seem to be talking to other people much. His eyes darted around the room, looking anywhere but me.
"Can I see?" I asked to catch his attention again.
He just shrugged, so I leaned over to look at the drawing.
It actually was really good, a young boy with blonde hair and a neutral expression stared up at me from the paper, his face was shadowed in many different colours as if he was standing under coloured light.
"Wow that's really cool."
As I lean back my shoulder brushed against his, wich made him tense up visibly, but he acted like nothing happened and smiled shyly.
"Thank you."
"I'm Frank. What's your name?"
He didn't look up, just fidgeting with his hands.
"Gerard."
For that was all we had talked that lesson, but I liked this kid and decided to stick with him, if he'd let me.
When the bell rang I asked him if I could sit with him at lunch and he agreed. Nobody else joined our table so I figured he had no other friends at school.
"So you like art huh? What else? Music?"
He shrugged. Then he quietly added "Metallica." without looking up from his meal.
"Hey, me too! They're really awesome, I started playing guitar because of them." He looked me in the eye with a curious expression. God, these golden orbs were like black holes pulling me in.
"You play guitar?" He asks, not as quiet as before. I nod an grin.
"I couldn't live without music. Seriously."
"Me too." He smiles a little more.
Our ways part to the next lesson, our day goes seperated from now on, sadly.
