Chapter 9 - All Too Well (Present)

My eyes were shut and my consciousness gaining, I rolled over, my hand traces the spot where Romeo slept from the side of my bed, I feel him – nothing. I raised my body in an abrupt manner and I saw him standing through the door of the en suite – the bathroom.

Wet and wild – I mean fresh from his bathe.

“Mornin’.” he greeted and striding towards me. I stand up, flipping the duvet covering my waist, then the cold air of the AC blistering my skin.

“Shit!” I cursed, I'm naked and our clothes scattered on the floor.

“You have nothing to hide, I've seen that many times.” then he pecks on my lips, as my hands cupped the inner part of my thigh, I just rolled my eyes. I grabbed a towel and cloaked it to my body and into the bathroom, gargling with mouthwash. Sometimes I don't trust my morning breath so, nicely to do it, before you speak. Then I recalled what occurred last night.

“What had just happened last night?” I asked as he was picking up our wasted clothes.

“That we did it under the duvet, and seems you've enjoyed it.” his visions were on me – brightly. I just chuckled.

“That's not what I mean..”

“Why were you drunk last night? And what's your deal with Daniel?” This is my opportunity to asked him 'cause he's totally sane. I sauntered closer to him and my arm snaked, wrapping his neck.

“Now, be honest pretty boy.” I flirted. His eyes darting to mine, I could tell if he's lying 'cause it's the window to one's soul.

“I was out of my mind, I got jealous about you and him.. is that all because I love you and I don't want to lose you,” he confessed and his alluring eyes covered with remorse.

“Me either.. I don't want to lose you!” and I kissed him.

Then Romeo confided to me everything, what he saw outside of that café and I explained mine. We both cackled gaily about that drama. It was all a stupid misunderstanding. We're both set and ready to leave, we planned to watch a movie before going home. Because the weekend is for family day.

“And lastly, I thought, I've had disappointed you about giving up my studies.” Romeo inserted as we get out of the room.

“No, you didn't, but instead you made me even more proud, you're selflessly brave and I love you.” he kissed me on the cheek and closed the door behind us just like how close and secure our relationship all this year.

We've watched the Marvel's Avengers; End Game not just it's the most talked topic but my boyfriend was a Marvel superheroes fan. Seated inside, eating our popcorn and I can't keep my eyes off him – his amazed angelic face watching the movie made me more worth to stared it. Then it was done, we were outside of the cinema and I told him to buy me bottled water and he left right away.

Scrolling through my phone, an unexpected question approached me, “So, how's the movie?”

I averted my sight from where the query came from, standing from the side – it was Gelli and Daniel, then an automated smile registered on my face but not that so pleased.

“It was great, I'll give it the eighth rate on a scale of ten.” her eyes rolled holding the bag of popcorn.

“Did you just spoil us – spoiler alert.”

“No, you've asked.” trying to make it clear, now her face looks like Hulk.

“How are you feeling now?” Daniel inserted, handing the grape juice to Gelli, I looked at him, his voice is as cute as him.

“I'm feeling good. Thanks to you.”

“Well, I'm impressed with your idea.,” she interjected, her ever squinching look flaring, and she does not really sound grateful to me.

“I'm studying it and adding more details and precise procedures, so clearly it's not just your ideas now..” she redressed, that's not what matters to me now, I don't want to argue, all I wished is to finish the project and could get off from this stress, she's just so competitive as ever, but my tongue slipped, “But I think of it first.”

“And still we got so much to do.” Daniel jumped into the conversation, he could sense the tension uprising from both his friends. Then a hand touched me, it was Romeo, wrapping his arm on my shoulders, standing in front of Daniel, and handing the cold water. He smiled seamlessly.

“How are you, Romeo?” Gelli asked, I never really thought that she'll ask that as if she cared for him.

“I'm good,” he answered so short, I gulped from the bottle as she asked again.

“I'm sure it must be tough for you, while studying and at the same time working, Engineering right?”

“At first, yes, but as the time passes by everything to me turned to be normal and Kris never leave my side,” he told, swaying his eyes from her to Daniel and pulled me closer to him as his wraps tightening.

“So, you and Kris are a thing now?” I know that's the question she wanted to ask for. That night we had quarreled, I know she got interested in me and him – such a gossipmonger. Romeo browsed at me and gave my ever lovely smile. We haven't been talked about our relationship with other people except for my family and his. And for the rest – it's still private.

“Yes!” and pecks on my cheek. Gelli was stunned as Daniel glowed at me.

“How long you guys been together?” she's even more curious, her tone was at pitched.

“Like since forever!” Romeo's hand clutched into mine and made our excuse, we passed through them and with Gelli's jaw-dropping reaction left behind.

My heart's flattering about what he said, I know I'm not yet ready to expose our secret to the world – but he did it smoothly and greatly to them, peeking at his face as the sun shines flawlessly to it. My belly hurts, but simply not from the butterflies in my stomach – it was the same pain I feel on my lower left part. I nearly stumbled from the sidewalk but Romeo supported me.

“Hey, what's wrong?” he asked with concern. I breathed out, clasping on his shoulders.

“Nothing, let's just go home.” sweats like pulp arising from my face – so uncomfortable. He called for a cab.

“Are you okay?” and placed his palm on my forehead, checking my temperature. “You don't have a fever, let's get in the car it's being too hot outside.”

My head rested on his shoulder and was aiding it with his hand, caressing my hair, my arm crumpled on my stomach but I didn't make it obvious, the ride was short as the vehicle parked into our front gate. He paid the driver and we stepped out.

“You wanted me to go inside?” cupping my cheeks, sliding down to my shoulders, my head nod sideways. Today's family time and I liked him to be with his parents. He kissed me – just a smack. “I'm only one call away. Okay.”

He added, then he walked home, he looked back at me and I waved my arm. I loved the idea of him to be with me but I couldn't just take the time he should be rendering to his parents. I have him almost every week and it's time for Romeo to be with his mom and dad – their only son.

I opened the gate and speed to my room hurriedly, I laid myself to the tepidness of the mattress, curling my body and my arms to my stomach, breathing deeply, until it knocked me down.
