Chapter 20 a - All Too Well
Chapter 20 a - All Too Well (Flashback)
Kris' POV
From the above, we're watching the whole town in pint-size. Romeo preferred to celebrate the Christmas Eve on the carnival - locked safely inside a wooden cart while the Ferris wheel is in motion. I keep flapping my hand in the open black deep blue horizon.
"I remember the last time we were here - you're much happier now." Romeo talked, sitting opposite from mine.
"Yeah, because we're not running to anyone now." We snickered, he crossed his arms, swinging to the back of his head.
"Don't give me that cocky look." and I kicked his foot with my old converse shoes.
"What?" he smirked and brows met - projecting his ever cute, adorable face.
"This." I tossed a small paper bag, that was hidden from my back and his hands catch it - actively. He wet his lips before glancing back at me.
"What is this?" his hands pressing it gently, what's inside of the wrapper, and flipped it over and saw his name.
"Happy Holiday - Mr. Halliday, that's my gift for you!"
"Hashtag feeling surprise?" I joked, definitely, he looks surprised, his lips a bit shaky and eyes bulging.
"But I didn't have anything for you." his voice cracked and I smiled.
"I don't care if you have anything or none - all I care about we're friends, why don't you open it." Romeo manages to smirk and his fingers slowly unwrapping the covered thing.
"It's not that expensive, I only bought that with my extra allowance." inside was a silk dark blue scarf and he caresses it on chest level.
"It's the thought that counts." He hugs me, making our cab tilted caused by the overload on my side. We both squeak and then laughed. He returned seated and his pixie orbs filled with tears. I grabbed the scarf and wraps it on his neck, then pinched the hem of it and stick to his eye.
"You're welcome!" I told, he doesn't have to be emotional or what, it's the season of love and giving so it's normal - it's Christmas. The ride was over and we're pacing towards the lane of fancy food stalls, he ordered some waffles and large size of mango milkshake - way better than the sweet corn I've had before.
"Is there something more you want to eat?" he gazed at me, so gorgeously looking on his denim jacket with that scarf on his neck.
"What? Is there something on my face?" he asked, I didn't know I was gaping at him for a period - he's such pretty boy.
"Nothing - I'm good with this waffles and shake."
"Is there something you want to do?" We're moving distance from the booth, retreats to the gloaming of the carnival's and find a seat.
"Is there something on your mind, you wanted us to do?" I asked, even I was flabbergastingly dumbfounded why I said it. Romeo chuckles and my brows furrowed.
"Sorry, what I mean is, maybe you want some game or try again our luck.."
"No, I'm good." I thought what he means is we have to deal with some lover's matters that's why we're here at some secluded area - I have such a dirty mind.
"Okay." and Romeo swallowed the last bite of his food.
My phone's chiming its alarm tone and I fished it on my pocket - eleven-thirty five. Mom told me that I must be home before midnight and if I'm going to start walking I'll be there in fifteen minutes. I advised Romeo that we have to leave and so we did.
Our shoes clapping on the sidewalk and the sea of stars above us supervising our trails - maybe this is one of the best memory I'll remember, I keep peeking at him and I couldn't enable myself stop thinking 'what am I to him?' - or worse I don't want either of us only be part of photographs and mementos.
"Are you cold?" glancing with his beautiful chocolate eyes and attempted clutching my right hand but I docked it inside my pocket before he got the chance, chuckles slipped through my lips, "No, I'm not."
"Does anyone said, you're really cute?" now, what he's trying to conjure? I looked at him and my lips go sideways.
"Does anyone confronted, that was such a corny line." he snickered, hand's in a fist while pressing his lips.
"Sorry, if it didn't work on you."
"Maybe, try harder."
"That's some common line I've watched in movies." he's explaining and hands in motion.
"We're not in movies, we're real - try to be yourself." Our paces existed quickly as my time running out, I should be home before the set arrangement, if not I'll be grounded, - there are few rules mom had obliged and that must be observed, one of it is - curfew.
"Can you walk faster?" clicking my tongue in a flirty way. I don't want him thinks I'm the boss here, he grabbed me by the shoulder and we halted, Romeo looks nervous as he gulped greedily his saliva. I do not know what's on his mind but I was presuming he had something to say.
"Does anyone ever made you feel you're special?" not looking at my gaze and sights darted on the ground, now, here we go again with the cheesy lines.
"Yes. My family." I replied - intentionally.
He perks up at me and looks devastated. For me to complete that look he had to stretch both arms above his head and started groaning - and maybe that'll gratify me - kidding.
"No, I was just joking, except for my family none ever - "
His soft kissable lips blocked my sentences, my eyes were bulging and a little cross-eyed by his close exposure, then it shuts automatically. Under the fervid wind of the night while sharing the warmth of our breath - wishing this wouldn't end. Our lips clicked before it completely untangled.
"Because, I do." his breath tingling the tip of my nose while his both arms positioned on my back, supporting me. Then a strong big arm pushed me on the ground unlacing Romeo's wrapped from my body.
"Kid what are you doing?" the man asked, pointing his finger to him. I was dropped and encumbered to what is happening - I'm starting to freak out. Romeo froze.
He keeps on blurting out questions on Romeo and the old man was so furiously intense - that's because he was drunk and also he was so completely pissed. He keeps on shouting like he had the right and the authority to be so worked up about what Romeo did - what we did.
"How about those punches I gave you Romeo?"
"I guess it didn't help - so you're gay now!" I exhaled deeply and was gaping at Romeo, I recall the bruises he had and this drunkard must be his dad.
"Run!" Romeo yelled, adrenaline rushing through my body and I did what he said, I know what in front of me was great trouble - and I'm scared and I did nothing and left him there - alone.
