Chapter 18 - All Too Well
Chapter 18 - All Too Well (Flashback)
Mom entered my room with a plate of spaghetti, a slice of cake and a glass of brain freezing cola, clearly leftover from the dinner and from my party - just family party.
"Kris, some food for your friend." she greeted as her face illuminated joyously, that Romeo was my first ever friend visited me and mom placed the tray on my side table. "What's your friend's name."
"Hi, Mrs. Lucas, I'm Halliday." he answered and extended his hand and my mom clasped it and do a handshake, "I lived one mile from here, and my name's Romeo - Romeo Halliday!" mom chuckled, maybe that was the worst process of introducing one's self I've heard.
"Mom? By any chance, could Romeo sleep here tonight?" both startling eyes bump into my dreamy one, but Romeo's reaction was more surprised than my mom, I know this was unplanned and that thought just popped up and realized I wanted him to stay with me.
"But we have rules, you know that - "
"Yeah, I know, but it's my birthday, Please.." I cut her speech, hesitation glowed from her face and Romeo looked at me with 'no, I don't want to' or 'it's okay if I can't stay' look from his complexion.
"Romeo's my first ever friend came into our house, mom," I explained - more likely reminding.
If mom won't agree it's still fine by me - I don't know why but growing up on this household, rules of do's and don't's are constant and I'm used to it if that's how parents discipline and protect their children - and I would be very glad if she'll do my favor tonight.
"Okay, but I'll set up another mattress here.." she finally said 'yes', I cheered inside my mind and Romeo feel relieved.
"Is that okay, with you Romeo?" mom asked, of course, he'll surely agree because no one dares to reject an offer from person you've just met and also if they're nice too.
"Thank you, Mrs. Lucas, you're so nice of you," he replied, told you - I've already read his mind. Then mom left the room and leaving the door open.
"Why did you do that?" he asked crudely and sit on the bed, beside me.
"It's getting late, I don't want you to walk home alone."
"Just be honest, you really want me to stay - you wanted me to stay to see my face." he mocked, I can't conceal my emotions but to redden.
"Okay, both." we laughed, Romeo stride to the table and touched his food, he must be famished.
"Can I kiss you again later?" he joked - or that wasn't a joke. I let my tongue out as a reply and smirked.
"Why don't you eat your food first, and get your reward." and sipped from his drink and do a thumbs up.
Mom's back with my old single sized mattress, with an extra pillow and a fluffy fleece. I helped her arranged it beside my bed, on the floor. Then she smooched my forehead.
"Good night mom," I told before she exits, she got to glance me and replied with her dearly smile. I jumped back on my bed and snatched my journal under the right corner of the mattress.
"What happened at the tournament?" I asked. Romeo peeped at me and make a sucking noise while eating the pasta, flicking through some pages and looked at him.
"Well, the school's won and for three straight years." I know, and that was obvious he gave me his medal. What I wanted him to tell is how the crowds went wild or how thrilling the match was, or about Astro and his ego.
"I wish you were there - so you could see me play."
"Mom and Dad weren't at the game too." he told weakly, I feel so much remorse but I have my own reason too, "Or you can see how Astro being proud not letting the opponent have a score." his smile's back.
"At least, you were here.." I told, from my position and head rested on the footboard, we both glanced at each other.
"You made me happy and I'm so proud of you too." I crossed my legs, wringing my toes inside my sock, and he speaks after he gulped from the glass.
"What is that?"
"Is that the diary you've mentioned?" I flipped it front and back, it's a colored blue journal with glittery hardback design and with my initial.
"Why? You thought I was lying?" I chuckled and sat up, starting writing.
"No, of course, I believe you.."
"Why having that in this kind of era?" Romeo asked,
"This is not just a diary, I also wrote here my plans - dreams and 'to-do list'." and flipped on a page with full of colors with boxes unchecked. "because if you wrote it, it's more likely to occur." and he clasped it from my hand and started scanning.
"Japan? You wanted to visit Japan?" he asked surprisedly.
"Yes, why?" my lips thinned and giggles escaped.
"Why not New York City? Ireland or Canada?"
"It's not your dream, it's mine."
Romeo groped a pen from my table and wrote something on the page, I crawled from my bed and tried to snatch it but he swayed it through the air alertly, holding it with his left hand.
"What did you write?" I asked, my eyes bulging, and he stands up.
He closed and returned it to me. I laid down and my head slightly slants from the edge of the bed, I opened it - my journal started glowing made by the fluorescent bulb from the ceiling and I read his name.
"Romeo Halliday," I whispered, written delicately with his cursive penmanship.
"Why wrote your name?"
"So you and I probably will live in the future."
I lowered it and he was standing in reverse, I rolled over. It was something - and I felt complimented. Romeo sits down on the setup mattress and rested his back in my bed. He was looking at me vibrantly and our faces were mere inches away.
I think my tongue was cut out that I couldn't speak, I swallowed my saliva greedily and he noticed it too. His eyes were blazing orbs filled with fairness that it's toasting me lasciviously.
"Where's my kiss?" Romeo teased.
