(a/n: after much thought, i ended up going with the majority vote even though i was THIS close to naming the cat fettuccine because one person commented fettuccine and that was just really funny to me idk- and whoever suggested it be declan, that's an awesome idea ahhhh

really wish i could use all the names but you know my branding and know by now what the name probably is

also SO SORRY FOR THIS SUPER LATE UPDATE this is gonna be short because im planning for the next one to be much longer!!)

"I still can't believe you named your cat Dorito," Roman sighed. "So many other options. Stormy, Fettuccine, Halloween, Nöel, yet you chose Dorito?"

Virgil ignored his remark and continued holding his hand out, getting it delicately licked by Dorito.

After a few minutes of Roman watching his boyfriend squeal over the kitten, his eyes sparkled when he heard Virgil say, "I'm dying of happiness right now."

Patton watched Dorito while Virgil and Roman were performing.

Yes, he was allergic to cats, but that was a problem for him to worry about later.

As usual, Virgil was crying during intermission. The intensity of the show always made him cry, even though he performed it eight times a week.

It had only been a day with Dorito, but Virgil was already acting like a mother. Small of the precious kitten were lined up at the top of the mirror.

Soon, it was time to go on again.

For once, Virgil went on stage with ease and he was full of confidence. He was every night, of course. He had to be. But that night was different.

During the first racquetball scene, he nearly fell backwards, but Luke caught him in time. Surprisingly, it was the only mishap of the night. At least, on his end. Roman nearly tipped over the entire structure at the beginning of the second act prematurely.

No, Virgil would never let Roman live it down.

It really hit Virgil that night that he was famous. Well, in the Broadway world.

His dream came true.

It didn't feel like a dream when it was real, but there was something in the teenager that still made it all feel so special.

Plus, he was ending his teenage years in one week.

He thought he understood growing and moving forward and accomplishing goals.

He didn't.

He really, really didn't, until that night.

"You good?" Roman asked. "You look like you're having an existential crisis."

"Is it any different than usual?" Virgil chuckled.

"Nah."

At least that wouldn't change.

"You know what?"

Roman looked up. "What?"

"I don't mind change."
