| CHAPTER 48 : FREAKING HOT |
I continued sipping on my orange juice, and playing with my hair. Totally not trying to avoid glancing at King Alpha who sat five barstools away and across from me on the kitchen counter.
Yeah, we're both giving each other the silent treatment after our little argument.
The silence in the kitchen made my sipping noises a little too loud and the awkwardness in the room seemed to weigh me down. But I wasn't going to be the one who leaves or gives up.
King Alpha sat nonchalantly, scrolling through his phone. Without his shirt.
Right when I thought the silence would continue forever, Levi strutted into the kitchen, wearing all black.
"I've got news from Head Vampire." He announced.
King Alpha looked up from his phone, towards him, "What?"
Levi stuffed his hands in his pockets, leaning on one foot, "He says if you postpone the meeting anymore, he's gonna take his clan and come here."
King Alpha gave an annoyed sigh, "Fine we'll meet him first thing in the morning."
"Actually," Levi said, "He's not there in the morning. He told us to come at 9 at night to his club."
"That stinky club." King Alpha rolled his eyes.
"Yup, the one that smells like blood."
"Fine, we'll be there. Just you and me though. I want no one else."
"Got it," Levi saluted him off before sending a wink in my direction and walking out the door.
I set my glass down on the counter and ran after him, not missing how King Alpha watched me run out the door.
Once I was out the kitchen door, I finally took in a breath of relief.
There was only so much awkwardness a person can take.
"Levi, hold up!"
He turned around, "Hey."
I stopped beside him, "Hey."
"What happened?"
I shook my head, "Nothing. Just thought I'd give you a company wherever you're going."
"I was going to confirm the meeting timings with the Head Vampire."
"Sure, I'll come with you," I announced.
"I-" he stated but then stopped himself and shrugged, "okay."
We walked step to step towards where the "Saludom office" was.
Levi told me to stand in one place and not touch anything while he went ahead and started typing something on the keyboard and computer. Despite his words, I ran my finger along the line of black files arranged on the shelf. This was definitely arranged by King Alpha. Neat freaking asshole.
"So why do you people have to meet the Head vampire?" I asked.
"They're the only ones with whom King Alpha hasn't created problems with," Levi answered, "actually we have a business truce. So King Alpha and they need to discuss something."
"Mhmm."
My eyes caught a name on the wall with King Alpha's picture. I furrowed my eyebrows, "Why is there a name 'Aiden Killian' written under King Alpha's picture?"
"That's his public name. He can't go around making humans call him King Alpha, so that's a fake identity."
"Like Ace, the warlock?"
"Yup."
"Do you have a fake identity?"
He continued typing on the keyboard, "Nope. I go with 'Levi Kazariah' all the way."
"So tell me about the Head Vampire," I asked, sliding onto a swivel chair and rotating myself around.
"I will once you tell me the actual reason why you're here with me." He peered at me through his long lashes.
I stop swivelling around, and gave him a look, "Whatever do you mean."
"C'mon, you can tell me."
I sighed, "Fine, me and King Alpha had this disagreement and now everything is awkward."
He chuckled, "Never thought King Alpha and awkward would be in the same sentence."
"Yeah well, it is now. Now about the Head Vampire."
He shrugged, continuing to type on the keyboard, "There's nothing much about him. He's been an old vampire for about a couple of thousand years. Knows more than any of us and knows every single thing about what's going on in this world."
"Everything?" I asked.
Levi looked at me, "Every thing. Like I'm not even kidding."
"Huh," I frowned into my thoughts.
What if he knows about me and what I am? What if he knows where Lucretia's crown is-? not that I'm wanting to give it to Ace. What if he can tell me about King Alpha's messed-up family?
"Can I come with you?"
Levi gave me a sorry look, "Sorry, but you were in the kitchen. King Alpha said only the both of us."
I deflated, "Yeah..."
Levi looked back at his computer.
A sudden idea popped into my mind, and I couldn't wait anymore.
I stood up from my place, scratching the back of my neck, "I'm getting bored now, mind if I leave?"
"Go ahead." He replied without even looking up at me.
"Thanks." I tried not to rush out of the office room in case I looked suspicious.
Once I was out of the room and closed the door, I ran all around the mansion like a crazy woman trying to find Drew.
༺═──────═༻
I found his room after a lot of asking and getting lost. I forgot to knock and barged in. My eyes widened at his room.
I don't know why I expected his room to be messy and unclean like those male teenager's. But his room was quite the opposite with a luxurious cream and golden interior.
The bathroom door opened, grabbing my attention. Drew stepped out with only a towel wrapped around his slim hips. Tiny droplets of water fell from his hair and slid down his hard pecs. I almost let out a squeak watching him half-naked.
"Ezlynn?" he noticed me.
My cheeks turned bright red and I quickly turned around, "Sorry about...barging in. I forgot to knock."
"Something wrong?"
"Erm-I'll let you get dressed first." Saying that I rushed out of the room and shut the door behind me.
Damn, Drew is freaking hot.
After a few minutes, the door opened, and this time Drew was clad in a black t-shirt with white joggers.
"All done, Mamour."
"Yeah."
I entered his room once again and he closed the door behind me.
"I don't know why I expected your room to be the trashy kind of place," I said, looking around.
He chuckled, moving to take a seat on the couch of his room and gestured me to sit too.
"So what brings you here?" He asked as I sat down, "how are you?"
"I'm needy," I responded, "I need your help."
"Fire away."
"I need you to take me to the Head Vampire."
He raised his eyebrows, "Head Vampire?"
"Yeah, King Alpha is going there tomorrow, and we had a small argument and now we're not talking to each other so I can't ask him to take me. So I need you to take me."
He furrowed his eyebrows, "You both fought?"
"Yeah, kind of."
"About...?"
I told him about what King Alpha said about my magic.
"Barbaric!" Drew exclaimed with a frown, "he can't do that to you, mon ange."
"I know, right!" I huffed, "Anyways, so will you take me to the Head Vampire."
"I don't get why you want to meet him."
"Levi says he's lived for a couple of thousand years and knows literally every single thing. So I'm hoping-"
"That he'd have some answers for you." Drew finished for me.
"Exactly."
He nodded, "Smart thinking."
"So will you take me?"
He smiled, "Of course. Be ready with a hot dress."
I deflated, "I don't have any dresses."
He shrugged, "Ask Katia."
"Um okay." I said before smiling wide and launching my arms around Drew's neck, "Thank you!"
He chuckled, hugging me back, "Anything for you, mon ange."
