He is sensible and so incredible and all my single friends are jealous.

Lincoln is a great guy. He really is. He's charming, endearing, good looking, funny, and just all around a good guy. He makes her feel loved and wanted. All of Skye's friends say she's lucky to have him, and sometimes, she agrees with them. She likes him, she does. She just doesn't love him, no. Her heart has been and always will be with Grant Ward, the man who broke her heart but she loves him anyway.

But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain and its 2 a.m. and I'm cursing your name, so in love that I acted insane and that's the way I loved you.

"You could've been killed!" Skye remembers yelling at Ward when he got home after a dangerous mission.

"Skye all of my missions are this dangerous!"

She glared at him and stormed off the bus, not even caring that it was raining outside.

"Skye!" he called after her.

She turned around and shot another glare at him, "what is so important that you feel like you need to go on suicide missions all the time?!"

He ran a hand through his hair and yelled back at her, "you are, Skye!"

She paused and stared at him for a moment before suddenly attacking his mouth with her own.

It was their first kiss, and it was perfect. One of his hands in her hair, the other on her back while her hands were running through his hair. Neither one of them cared that they were now soaking wet. They also didn't care that the team was probably watching them. Right now, this moment was all about them.

Breaking down and coming undone it's a roller coaster kind of rush and I never knew I could feel that much and that's the way I loved you.

Her hands shook violently as she leaned up against the bathroom wall in Providence. She brought a hand up to wipe away the tears cascading down her cheeks, "he's Hydra," she whispered to herself over and over. She never would've thought that the man she loved and loved her back would've betrayed her like this, betray the team like this. They were a family for goodness sakes! They were happy! But not anymore. She composed herself and walked out of the bathroom wearing a mask of ease, but underneath, she was breaking inside.

But she's not in love. Her heart belongs to Ward no matter how hard she tries to deny it.

He can't see the smile I'm faking and my heart's not breaking, cuz I'm not feeling anything at all and you were wild and crazy, just so frustrating, intoxicating. Got away, my sole mistake.

She would cover up her pain with a smile every time someone asked her if she was ok. They all knew she wasn't, especially Lincoln. He tried to cheer her up by getting her ice cream and all her favorite movies, he would get her anything she wanted and she knew that, but he could never fill the ache in her heart. And, of course, she knew that it wasn't fair to either of them, but the heart wanted what it wanted. Lincoln was here and Ward wasn't, simple as that. He got away, and she couldn't believe that even after a year she still never told him that she had forgiven him. Apparently Coulson said he's moved on and has gone off the grid. She knows he's still out there somewhere, hopefully. He has to be, right?

She hugged her pillow close to her and let a small tear trickle down her cheek as she remembered the good old days. Playing battleship by the window, early morning training sessions, late nights playing Scrabble with the rest of the team. Cuddling on the couch in the lounge, stolen kisses when they thought no one was looking, she missed all of it. She just hoped that somewhere, maybe in another universe or something (she was really just grasping at straws at this point) she and Ward could be happy together. She smiled at the thought of the life they could've had as she drifted off to sleep.
