Another You

Alan was nervous.

Alan was terrified.

Alan was excited.

He felt so many emotions while waiting for Austin.

Alan had grown a little crush on Austin.

Just a little one.

It started the day he made eye contact with Austin. He seemed so big. So scary. So much older. It was insane. But he wasn’t mean looking. His eyes told Alan he was sweet.

And Alan wanted to know this boy.

He danced his fingers along his arm waiting for Austin. He’d been sitting there for a while. It wasn’t that Austin was late. It just that Alan was early.

An hour early.

Alan was scared that if he was late, Austin wouldn’t like him. Or worst, make fun of him.

That thought had Alan running his fingers through his hair. It was getting longer now. He liked it grown out. His mother enjoyed it too. Every night, her and Alan would sit in his bed and just talk.

Him and his mother never kept secrets from each other. It just wasn’t what they did.

The day Alan grew the tiniest crush on Austin, he told her right away. She just smiled at her boy, and played with his hair, telling him to invite him over for dinner sometime.

Alan’s mother loved the fact that two people can find eternal happiness in each other.

She just loved love.

She’d always been that way. Even after Alan’s father died.

She just said, “I’ll still be happy, even if he isn’t at my every step.”

And that’s what kept Alan thriving.

“Alan?” Austin said, smiling down at Alan.

Alan dropped the piece of hair he was twirling in his finger, and slyly smiled. “Hey Austin.” He said sweetly.

Austin’s heart fluttered at the way the boy said this name. “Are you ready to go?” He asked.

“I’m ready whenever you are.” Alan said.

The boys proceeded to walk together to Austin’s car.

Austin stared at Alan as they walked. He noticed a couple of things about Alan in that time.

One, Alan always looks at the ground when he walks.

To Austin, this was no surprise. It just seems like something Alan would do. Alan is a timid boy, and timid boys look down at the ground. It was just so Alan.

Two, every time a breeze would sweep the air, Alan would pop his collar on his jacket.

It reminded Austin of the boys with greased back hair and leather jackets. Something that Austin would love to dress up as, and mimic Alan’s movements.

Finally, Alan look irresistible when his teeth chattered.

The way he shivered as they chattered, and the way he exposes them, not knowing what they do to Austin.

Alan was just too adorable.

Finally, once the duo got to the car, Austin skipped ahead of Alan to open his door.

Alan stared at Austin with a blush rising on his cheeks. Austin just smiled at that, and watched Alan step into the car.

And he totally did look at Alan’s butt.

Not at all.

“This is mi casa.” Austin said, grinning at Alan face.

“You live alone?” Alan asked, looking around Austin’s little apartment.

Austin just looked at the boy. “Yeah, my parents wanted to move up north to Canada, but I wanted to stay and finish school. So they are paying for me to stay here. It isn’t much of a house, but it’s enough of a home.” Austin said, moving towards the only sofa in the apartment.

“That’s nice. I wish I’d lived alone sometimes.” Alan said, as he followed Austin over to the sofa. As he sat down, he placed his bookbag at his feet.

The boys sat beside each other, of course not too close.

Alan gazed at the room. To this left, was the door out. In front of him was the kitchen. It was very tiny, but contained a little bar to eat at since there was no space for a good size table. Then, to his right, was two doors, which Alan assumed were the bedroom and bathroom.

While Alan was scanning the room, Austin was analyzing Alan some more. The boy was just something else. His body was still masculine, like a teenage boy who worked out, but everything sized down. He wasn’t tall, nor wide. He was just perfect.

“Want to move over to the bar?” Austin suggested as he decided to start working on the project.

Alan jumped at little, but then smiled sweetly, and stood up, tossing his bookbag over one shoulder to relocate. He followed Austin, and jumped onto a bar stool beside Austin. He reached into his book bag, and pulled out his binder for the stat class.

“Where do we want to start at?” Alan asked, while opening his binder. He searched for the rubic, flipping through endless amounts of notes.

Austin grabbed his stuff, and smiled at Alan’s focus on finding what he needed. “We can start by reading what we need to do.” He suggested.

Alan went red at that.

Austin didn’t realize how it sounded like. It sounded like a no duh kind of answer, and he didn’t mean to do that. “Sorry, didn’t mean for it to come at that way.” He apologized.

“No, it’s fine. It was a stupid question.” Alan said, all flustered as he continued flipping papers quickly. “Ah-ha!” He exclaimed as he found the paper.

The boys worked on the project for an hour or two. In that time, Alan relaxed a little around Austin, but still blushed often. They complete most of the project, since it was just a hard project, and not very time consuming.

“Want to stay for dinner. I can cook some spaghetti if you’d like.” Austin suggested.

Alan smiled and nodded, as he grabbed his phone to tell his parents where he’d be.

Austin proceed to start boiling water, while looking over at Alan. He was looking down at his phone, his hair dangling in front of his face. Austin smiled at the hair. It was gorgeous. Not many men could have long hair and look okay. It was something admired. He also like the dark red to Alan’s hair. Often ginger’s were light red, but Alan’s were dark. His hair was thick, making is less frizzy as it lengthened. It looked good, and Austin really, really adored that.

Austin turned back to the stove, tossing a hand full of noodles into the pot and setting the timer. “What do you like to do, Alan?” Austin asked, trying to get to know Alan.

Alan looked up from his phone, and turned it off to slip into his pocket. He blushed as he answered. “I like to play my guitar a lot. I can’t sing or anything, but it is nice to play it. I also like to listen to music. It helps me relax and keep me on task.”

Austin smiled at Alan. “I like singing, but my singing is the kind the neighbors complain about.” Austin grinned.

Alan just blushed.

“What kind of music do you listen to?” Austin asked.

Alan’s blush just rose, causing him to be flustered. “I like metal a lot. I like the aggressive screaming and heavy guitars. It’s kind of therapeutic to listen to.” Alan said.

Austin bounced off the counter at that. “You like metal?” Austin surprised.

“Yeah, it’s weird, but my mother always listened to that kind of stuff.” Alan blushed.

Austin was still surprised. “So it’s not weird to scream in music?” He asked.

“No, no, no. It’s amazing! Especially when you get into the lyrics.” Alan said, thinking Austin didn’t like that kind of stuff.

Austin just smiled at Alan. “That’s kind of what I do. I like that stuff to. I don’t do it often, since it’s loud, but I love it when I do.” Austin told him.

Alan smiled the biggest he had all day.

Austin heart just grew bigger at that.

“You have a very nice smiled.” Austin told Alan, leaning over to the bar at him.

Austin was intentionally trying to get Alan to blush more, but he just did what was natural. He wanted to see the boy smile.

“Thank you, you do too.” Alan said shyly.

Austin just stared at the boy until the timer went off. He turned around and turned off the stove, and went to microwave the sauce.

Once he finished making dinner, he fixed Alan and himself a plate of spaghetti.

They ate though the meal pretty quickly. Not many words were exchanged, but the silence wasn’t awkward. It was nice. After they were done eating, Austin cleaned everything up.

“You want me to take you home now? You can stay if you’d like.’’ Austin offered.

Alan frowned. “I wish I could stay, but my mom wants me home. She hasn’t seen me all day.” He told Austin.

Austin frowned a little, but smiled. “Okay, let’s get going before it get’s too cold.”
