sea foam
I wanted to drown.
It would have been easy,
Swim out to the currents and
Let them drag my broken body under.
Let the waves crash my skull onto the sea-bitten rocks
I wanted to taste the salt,
To feel it fill my lungs
They say it only takes a minute.
They say at the end, of that minute
Your brain forces you to breathe--
Even if that breath is full of death.
Then you're drifting off
into sleep
into sleep
into sleep
They may have even declared it an accident,
A terrible tragedy!
How fitting it would have been
To die as I had lived:
Underestimated
But I cannot possibly be dead
For I keep floating above the sea foam,
And all the dead,
they sink.
