Alfred and Alex's Sibling Relationship

So, one of my friends was reading a few of my Civil War short stories, and she's pretty damn pissed off at Alfred. She was being a little close minded to a few facts. She also said that if she was in Alex's shoes, she would've killed Alfred. Alex would've never though.

Alex and Alfred defiantly have a complicated relationship, it's almost an enigma. But I'm going to try to break it up for you as well as I can, seeming I'm probably the best person to describe this.

I think it's best to start from the beginning. From when Alex was first adopted into the Kirkland-Bonnefoy Family. Alfred automatically felt a connection between himself and Alex, all because Alex looked like his sister from the tribe (which they later figured out she was). She reminded him of the life he had before the European a settlers, she was that piece (along with Matthew) of his old life that he couldn't help but cling onto. So, he protected her. Not only were they siblings, they were best friends. Alex was actually the one who started calling Alfred "hero" in the first place, which is a title he still shows off proudly to this day. But anyway, let's fast forward a bit.

Now, after Alfred left, there was obviously a little bit of tension in the family. A few months after the Revolutionary War, Alfred sailed to France (which is where his family was living) he wanted to make amends with his father, but he was too scared to go with that being the only reason. He thought of more reasons to go back home, he found it hard to find another. Then, one popped into his head. Alex. That was his second reason. He figured his little sister was missing him like crazy. So she became his second reason.

Fast forward once more. Alfred taking Alex away from their parents. This is where their relationship started to get a little rocky, most people think it was the Civil War, but this was the spark. However, at the same time, Alex has already been forced to leave home so many times, that if it was anyone other then Alfred, she would've gone kicking and screaming. And though it pained Alfred to do this to his sister, he knew that as long as she was under American rule, she wouldn't have to move anywhere else, he knew his boss wouldn't easily give up land. And think about it, that stays true to this day. Alex hasn't been forced to live with anyone, other then in the Civil War when she lived with Justin, Anna, and Allen.

Now, War of 1812. Another bump in the road for their sibling relationship. Alex's first taste of the battlefield. Alfred managed to weasel her out of most fights. But, then came the Battle of New Orleans. It was Alfred and her vs. their father and their brother. Alex hid behind a rock for most of the battle, too terrified to even look. Than, she ended the battle by jumping into the middle of the fire and yelling at people (vicious even as a child) then, we all know she went home with her dad for about a week after that. To this day, she'll claim it because she was homesick, that's all. And it was true, but that was only half of it. She needed a break from Alfred, she was seeing a side of her brother she never saw before, and it was scary. And of course, she was too young to understand none of it was actually Alfred's doing, but his bosses.

Now, to where the relationship really started falling apart. The Civil War. I'm going to make this brief sense we already know what happened and how both feel about it.

But after the Civil War, they felt they had hurt each other enough. They didn't want to hurt each other again. They were still best friends, along with siblings. The only difference is now there was a drift between them. Not wanting to hurt her brother again is why Alex moved out of his place and started living on her own.... Alfred thought it was because she now hated him. Not wanting to hurt his sister again is why Alfred didn't talk to her at all, for a whole year. Which made Alex think he hated her.

Alfred didn't talk to Alex until after her little suicide attempt. After Arthur called him and told him about it, he got the first ship he could to France (sense Alex tried to kill herself whilst she was moved in with her parents). This is where the bond starts to heal.

Not much has come up sense then between the two, other then sibling fights but that's normal.

This was just a long way of answering why Alex didn't kill Alfred when she had several clear shots of him. He's not only her brother, but her best friend. Besides, scars never heal.... But they do fade.
