Chapter Two

Spencer didn't quite know what to expect when he walked into the BAU and saw a woman who he considered to be absolutely gorgeous standing in Gideon's office, talking with him, and his heart nearly stopped when they looked his way for a moment. He pretended like he hadn't seen them, but his heart was in his throat. He was really hoping that this didn't have anything to do with his abduction a few weeks earlier, and he couldn't help but wonder if someone could have found out that he was taking dialuid.

"We have a new team member!" Garcia chirped, coming up behind him with a grin. He spun around, looking at her in shock.
"What?" She nodded, grinning, and pointed briefly to the woman in Gideon's office.
"Leah Esther Smallbone. She's your age, almost as smart as you are, simply beautiful, and she has an absolutely gorgeous Australian accent. Her IQ is three points lower than yours." He had to fight to keep his jaw from dropping when she came out with Gideon. She was visibly healthy and fit, with almost olive-colored skin, hair that was nearly black pulled into a French braid. But the thing that stuck out to him was her eyes. They were a deep, almost emerald green.

"Reid?" He looked over at Gideon, who had a knowing smile on his face.
"Would you mind showing her around? She'll be joining us, starting today." He nodded, setting his bag down, and went over to her as Gideon went back in his office. She smiled slightly, looking slightly up so that she could meet his eyes.

"Um...Hi. I'm Dr. Spencer Reid." She smiled, nodding slightly.
"Pleasure to meet you, Doctor. I'm Leah Smallbone. Gideon told me some about you. And I apologize for not shaking hands. You exchange less germs in a kiss." She blushed, looking down at her feet after she finished saying that.
"I'm sorry. I do that a whole lot, and I'm trying to stop doing that." He chuckled softly, smiling.
"Don't worry. I do it too. And I don't shake hands either, and for that very reason. Have you been teased because of it too?" She nodded.

"My older brother, Joel. We found out when I was about nine years old, when I was able to do some trigonometry, and ever since then, he would make nasty comments whenever he could. As we got older, he stopped doing it around our parents, so they wouldn't notice. And he would get even worse if I ever told them that he was doing that again." He nodded, setting the file he was holding on his desk.
"It's actually helpful when I do it here, so feel free." He said gently, and she smiled slightly, nodding.
"Sounds alright to me. So.....would you mind showing me around?" He blushed slightly, and nodded, chuckling softly.
"Yeah. Sorry. You've already seen Gideon's office. This is our area, where we have our desks. The office beside Gideon's belongs to Hotch." He showed her around, and then took her to the round table room, where Morgan, JJ, and Elle were having a debate about horror movie villains.

"No, it's got to be John Kramer, from the Saw franchise." JJ said, and Morgan laughed.
"Girl, it's Jason. Remember Friday The Thirteenth?" Leah smiled and broke into the conversation, to Reid's shock and pleasure. He chuckled under his breath, watching her.

"Actually, it's neither of those. While it is true that Saw and John Kramer crossed boundaries that hadn't been approached before, looking at it psychologically, the most terrifying would probably be Freddy Krueger, from Nightmare On Elm Street. Your own home would be one of the safest places for you to be, at least mentally, and the way he kills the characters is terrifying psychologically, even if they aren't the most gruesome deaths. And for the people who watch it, the rhyme that they have him, with the tune of a nursery rhyme, if it's stuck in your head can theoretically be something that could make a person afraid to fall asleep." The three stared at her for a moment, shocked, and she blushed, looking down.

"Sorry." She said softly, but Morgan grinned.
"D***, girl. That's good. You don't have to be sorry for that. You joining the team?" She smiled slightly and nodded, looking up. He grinned, extending a hand.
"Derek Morgan. Welcome to the team." No sooner than he had finished saying that, Gideon and Hotch came in.
"We have a new case."
