Kanan's P.O.V

   I woke up early to call and tell Joe that Hera couldn't come in today. Joe understood why she wasn't coming to work. He knew that Hera wasn't acting like herself for a while now. I had to admit, there were times I thought the same thing but never spoke about it.

   Well, today is my day off so I thought to use it to help Hera have a nice relaxing day.

   About an hour later, Hera woke up and was surprised to see me awake. "Good morning, what are you doing up do early especially on your day off of work?" She asked me.

   "To tell Joe that you weren't coming in today so we could go out and relieve all the stress off of your shoulders," I said.

   "Kanan, we need the money though," she said in disbelief and a bit mad. Yet, behind that look of disapproval, there was an affectionate side.

   "Don't worry, Joe said he'll pay you the same as always. He was worried about you cause he has seen that you've been acting differently," I explained then mumbled, "I have too."

Hera's anger dissolved into a relaxed one. That's when I noticed how tired she looked when her walls were down. "Ok, fine. I guess a day just to relax is fine," she said giving in. I smiled and said, "How about you go and get some more sleep. You look like you could use it."

   She nodded in agreement then went back to bed. This gave me time to think of what to do today.

Well, cooking breakfast is off the list but we do have cereal. Before I did anything, I went to change into different clothes. After that I grabbed two bowls and poured some cereal into them then milk.

   About a couple minutes later, Hera wakes up with a change of clothes. I guide her to the table where I set the bowls. She laughed a little, "Well at least it's not burn't."

   "Oh har har, your so funny," I said.

   She smiles and sits at the table then begins to eat. I sat down across from her and ate the cereal too. "Thanks for getting breakfast set up," she said putting the bowl in the sink when she finished.

"You pretty much did the same for me ever since I came here," I said making her smile. Butterflies started to churn in my stomach and I couldn't stop my face from heating up a bit. "Maybe I should teach you some time," Hera said.

"Probably for the best," I said scratching the back of my head.

"Now, you said something about having fun in the city today?" She said.

"Yeah, let's go," I said and we headed out the door.

*time skip*

Hera's P.O.V

   Today was amazing. We walked through the park then got some ice cream. After that, we went through an aquarium then went to a small petting zoo at Ahsoka's school. We even saw her there helping her father with the chickens. I felt lighter and more relaxed but the day wasn't over yet even though we are heading home. Kanan suggested we could watch a movie or just listen to music and talk.

   I chose the second option. We went into the apartment, dimming the lights, and made some supper then sat down to eat turning on the radio. "Thank you, Kanan. I needed that," I said setting my dishes aside him doing the same.

   "Well, I had to repay you for letting me stay," I joked and she laughed a bit.

It went silent just letting the music fill in the room with noise. That's until my favorite song was about to come on. I looked over at Kanan before standing up then held out my hand and asked, "Would you like to dance?"

"I never danced before," he said scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"Then I guess I'll teach you," I said. He thought about it then took my hand and standing up.

We walked to an open area of the apartment. Then I turned to face him and helped him put his arms around my waist. I encircled my arms around his neck then said, "All you have to do is follow my feet and sway."

"It's that easy?" He said in disbelief.

"Trust me, nothing is that easy," I said.

The song started.

Kanan's P.O.V

My heart was racing faster than the speed of light. I was nervous cause I never danced before and was afraid that I would mess up. So I tried to follow her instructions by looking at her feet and soon got the hang of it. Then the song started.

I met you in the dark, you lit me up

I remembered her trusting eyes lighting up my day when I met her in the bar...

   Carefully, I crossed the street and entered the bar with my hood still up covering my face. I strolled over to the far back table so no one would see me. Yet, as I walked to the table, there were still some eyes lingering in my direction. Ignoring them, I sat in the booth and hid from any of those lingering eyes.

This felt weird and creepy having drunk people eyeing you like your the crazy one. Even though they are probably wanting to run out onto the street and scream their lungs out like mad men. Whatever the reasons they had were quickly forgotten as they turned back in their seats and went back to what they were doing.

   I leaned against the table with an arm resting on the table and my head in my hand. My other arm laid on the table drumming the cool surface as I stared off into space. "Hello?" I sweet voice called and snapped out of my trance. My eyes landed on a girl that seemed to be around my age.

   Then when I came home to her being sick.

   What can I do? She upchucked again so I gathered her hair to remove it from her face.

   Then you smiled over your shoulder
For a minute, I was stone-cold sober
I pulled you closer to my chest
And you asked me to stay over
I said, I already told ya
I think that you should get some rest

   The next memory of telling her to get some rest and tucking in her ill form came to mind.

I heard thunder outside then the pitter patter of rain hitting the window. I looked at the clock and said, "I think we should go to bed.You need to get some rest."

"You're right," she said sleepy then yawned. I gently picked her up and carried her to her room. I laid her in the bed then placed my hand on her forehead. I smiled a bit when it reduced the last time I checked. "Sweet dreams, Hera," I cooed then left the room shutting the door behind me.

   I knew I loved you then

   I was scared when she was ill but stayed calm and strong for her. I barely knew anything about illness but enough to make her feel better. I stared into her sparkling green eyes as we danced to the song.

I opened the door to reveal a pale Hera leaning over the toilet with vomit on her mouth and clothes. "Hera," I said even more scared than before.

   I know I needed you

   I didn't let go instead I just trapped myself in her stare.

   I'll wake you up with some breakfast in bed
I'll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head

   I almost laughed at the memory of trying to make breakfast in bed for Hera. I don't regret that at all even if I did have to clean up after myself.

   I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to try to make breakfast in bed for Hera. She has been so amazing and inspiring yet still has her troubles with sleep. The least I could do is make breakfast in bed for her.

Depa didn't show me how to make anything but how hard can it be?

About ten minutes later, there were burn't eggs with a side of black toast. Don't even ask me what happened with the drink, who in Lothal knows where that went. To add to my luck, the fire alarm went off which means...

   I bang came from Hera's room then her door slammed open to reveal the frantic girl herself. "Where's the fire?!" Hera asked frantically looking for the fire. She looked over at me then raised an eyebrow and turned the alarm off. I gave an 'I'm in trouble' smile and raised the plate with eggs and toast on it. "Burn't breakfast anyone?" I said laughing a bit with the same smile.

And I'll take the kids to school
Wave them goodbye
And I'll thank my lucky stars for that night

   I remembered when we helped that child in the alleyway.

      "Scram!" I yelled at them and they took off without thinking twice leaving the child with us. Once they were all gone, I calmed down and knelt down to the hurt boy. "Are you ok?" I asked and he shook his head 'no.' I could tell that he was scared of me by looking into his big teal eyes.

"Hey, it's ok. We poor class got to stick together," I said even though I knew Hera could hear me. After this, she is probably going to realize how much trouble I am and kick me out. At least I helped this child out and let a smile grace his lips.

Hera didn't leave me and understood. This was one of the many reasons that I loved her...

I forgot everything around me. The war, the pain, the memories was like sand going through my fingers. Slowly being forgotten in this very moment.

I was surprised when Hera suddenly got closer and laid her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her some more as we still danced. I rested my chin on her head as we swayed.
