Chapter 60
Misha's POV:
"Men tou keh rahi hun backless bhanwao apni choli. Bas pechay aik doori laga lena. Ibraheem ne tumhari kamar dekh kar hi mar jana hai. (I am telling you, you should get a backless top made. Just have a string holding it. Ibraheem will die when he sees your sexy back.)" Zoya wiggled her eyebrows as she ate halwa puri. I was still having a hard time believing she really was here.
"Ibraheem maray na maray, mere ghar walon ne mujhe zaroor mardena hai behaya honay ki waja se. (I don't know if he will die but my family will definitely kill me for being vulgar.)" I shook my head as I handed Rubab yogurt. We were having breakfast in my room. Ammi stepped inside to give us freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.
"Acha chalo, sleeveless tou bhanwao, Ibraheem tumhari malaim tawaja dekh kar fidah hojayega shadi men. (Okay fine, atleast have sleeveless shirts, Ibraheem will be mesmerized by your luscious silky skin.)" Zoya suggested and Ammi paused and gave her a look but then remembered how shameless Zoya really was.
"Mere khayal men shadi ke baad men bhi usko men apni 'malaim tawaja' dekha sakti hun. Ammi ap inki baton par itna ghour na karen, Zoya mazaak kar rahi hai bas. (I think I can show him my 'luscious silky skin' after the wedding too. Ammi focus on Zoya's words too much, she is just joking.)" I assured Ammi but Zoya gasped at us.
"Haw, men kab mazak kar rahi hun? Aisi shadi karengay ke agli tumhari sari naslon ko yaad rahegi. (Haw, I am not joking though? We are going to do such an amazing wedding that all your next generations will remember it.)" Zoya grinned mischievously. I was actually afraid of her plans now. She might actually make me wear something completely absurd. "Acha chalo choro, ajao ghumne phirne nikalay. Mujhe Lahore dekhay bohat arsa hogaya hai. (Okay nevermind, let's go hang out. It has been ages since I have seen Lahore.)"
"Waise tumne Saad ko kaisay manaya? Wapis Lahore anay ke liye? (Oh, how did you convince Saad? To send you back to Lahore?)" I grabbed my purse because Ammi had already given me permission to go out. Zoya was driving. We were planning to do a little early shopping and then lunch in some aesthetic restaurant as celebration for Zoya coming back.
"Kya matlab kaisay manaya? (What do you mean how did I convince him?)" Zoya reversed the car as Rubab connected her phone to the car Bluetooth to play music.
"Matlab Saad tou bohat protective nahi hai tumhare mamlay men? (I mean, isn't Saad really overprotective about you in this matter?)" I waved to my mother as the guard closed the gate.
"Haan, isliye menay usse bataya hi nahi. (Oh yeah, that is why I didn't tell him at all.)" Zoya replied nonchalantly as the car started to move in one direction.
"Oh acha. Kya matlab bataya nahi? (Oh, I see. Wait what do you mean, you didn't tell him?)" The music stopped almost immediately as I snapped my head in Zoya's direction. Rubab looked at her too.
"I sneaked out at night. Only Ammi knows. Plus, we are liberal but not that liberal so Saad lives in a different apartment from mine in Istanbul. He doesn't know I sneaked out. I only told Ammi. I bought a ticket, packed my essentials and bailed in the night. Don't worry I left him a note. He won't be back for a while, the next flight to Lahore is after a few days late. I am sure we will figure something out till then." Zoya explained as she gave me wide smile leaving me completely speechless. She really was a different level from me. "For now, just make sure that when you meet Ibraheem, he doesn't tell Kamran that I am back. When are you meeting Ibraheem anyway?"
"The day after tomorrow." I tried to control my excitement as I said that. It was amazing that he was going to visit my house to take me on a date and my family would actually know for once. It won't be a stealth mission. It really felt unreal. My parents had given us permission when they saw the nikkah-nama. It took a while for them to absorb the information but they agreed to it. It was so thrilling to imagine that we could have proper dates now.
"I think," Rubab spoke up suddenly causing me to put my excitement to side for now. I turned to look at her in the back seat since I had taken the passenger seat. "I think I am going to escape to a different country before Zoya could." Rubab's ambiguous statement caused the Zoya and I to exchange looks before Zoya stopped the car on the side and looked at Rubab properly.
"Why? Zohaib acting up?" Zoya joked but Rubab shook her head.
"Nope, it's Fahad." Well, that was new.
"Why? What did the womanizer do?" Zoya really didn't have a filter on her mouth but she did say the truth. When we had stalked his public instagram profile a while ago, the man really only had a shit ton of women all around him in almost every other picture. He would be holding some random woman from the waist and tagging her with stuff like 'babe from Hyderabad'. There was even story highlights of women sitting in his lap and laughing at some random parties. I had my doubts on his chastity too.
"He hasn't done much it's just, ever since that day, the day he protected me from Zohaib, I am seeing him in a different light. He pops up in my head out of nowhere and I don't know I keep thinking about him!" Zoya and I looked at each other in dread. Is that what I think it was?
"Wow, Rubab, I had no idea fuck-boys were your type." Zoya let out a laugh but Rubab gave her an icy glare that shut her up instantly. I turned to Rubab to ask the question.
"Do you like him?" Rubab's face flushed pink as she gasped before shaking her head vigorously.
"No way! He is a lecherous, flirtatious womanizer and....and....." Rubab's face turned pinker with every second as she looked like she was in a daze. Oh dear, this was bad.
"Is this perhaps your first time being attracted to a man? The pattern seems pretty similar. Now that I think about it, you really have no experience with men Rubab." Zoya inquired as she adjusted the direction of the air conditioner. "I never expected you to crush on him of all people. I mean, he has been around. He is the definition of a heart breaker. Maybe you need to meet more men."
"I don't know but I have decided what I am going to do." Rubab looked determined as she said this.
"Really? What?"
"I am going to push him away completely. I am sure the less I see him, the more I will get over it. He is a womanizer. A man like that can never be sincere. He has no place in my life. I am sure it's just because no one has ever done anything like that for me but I am sure it is what any guy would have done in that situation. I just feel bad that I showed him my weak side." Rubab rationalized more to herself than with us.
"Hey don't blame yourself, it wasn't your fault. The circumstances were like that." I assured Rubab and she gave me a small smile. Zoya nodded in agreement.
"I am pretty sure that I am just a game for him right now, once he knows I am interested, he will ditch me and move to the next one so I am not going to give him the chance. This ends here and now. All this absurd thoughts and feelings, I will forget them so they can't control me. I will avoid him until he gives up which I am sure he will and I can live peacefully after that too." Rubab concluded and the look in her eyes changed. She was always the one who masked her emotions the most out of us. The blushing face was gone along with the vulnerable look in her eyes. She was back to the emotionless, headstrong and mature Rubab we knew.
"If you say so, sis. Just know we are here for you, no matter what." I replied as I squeezed her shoulder.
"Just do what brings you peace. You are the most sensible one among us. I am sure it will all work out." Zoya added with a smirk. "Plus, don't worry, I will introduce you to some of my really hot guy friends, they will blow your mind away and help you get over him."
"It was a moment of weakness. That actually seems like a good idea, Zoya." Rubab rolled her eyes before smiling elegantly at us. It was interesting to see this exploratory side of Rubab. She was never interested in conversing with men in general but when she did, she somehow always managed to mesmerize them with her grace and poise so I really wanted to see Rubab in action.
Rubab's POV:
I was grateful to Misha and Zoya. I had been wanting to get this off my chest for the longest possible time. All that overthinking and self assuming was driving me crazy. It felt so calming now. I closed my eyes and slowly let the image of Fahad standing before me defensively against Zohaib fade away.
Fahad and I lived in two different worlds. We were the complete opposites in fact. There was no way this was ever going to work out in the first place and I am sure it's just my mind playing tricks on me because a man has never been that chivalrous with me before but I should never forget the kind of man he is and the kind of woman I am. He would never be loyal to me. I have already had my heart broken once, I am not going down that lane again.
With that firm determination, I decided to shut off all and any feelings I felt for him. He will forget them too when he realizes that I cannot and will not reciprocate. I am sure he will move to his next target. None of this will ever matter.
Author's Note:
I wanted to give you all a double update because it was the weekend. Now you all know what Rubab's side of the story is too. Can you hear it? The drama that is unfolding?
The possessive men in Karachi trembling with anger and something more? Cause I surely can hear it all the way here. The boys aren't going to be happy with the conclusion these women are coming to but oh well, that is for them to handle.
Don't worry, the next chapter is going to be about Misha and Ibraheem.
