Chapter 57

Ibraheem's POV:

The doctors had sent my blood for further tests and measured my blood pressure and oxygen levels while Misha kept pacing in the room and keeping her eyes on me. Even when the doctors had told her to step outside so they could change my bandages, she hissed and replied with a single sentence. 'Mera shohar hai. Men kahin nahi ja rahi. (He is my husband. I am not going anywhere.)'

The doctors sighed before agreeing. Once that was done, the doctor told us that if the blood reports turn out fine, I could be discharged by tomorrow night. Once they were gone, Misha called everyone. All the way to Karachi. Once done, she just sat in silence and continued to look at me with blatant love.

"Mujhe pata hota ke tumne mujhe itni pyar bhari nazron se dekhna hai tou men pehle hi goliyan kha leta. (Had I known you would look at me with such loving eyes, I would have gone and gotten myself shot before.)" This earned me a light slap on my arm from Misha.

"Aisa mazak bhi nahi karna, ayi samajh? (Don't even joke about something like this, got that?)" She warned me and I just rose my free hand up in surrender.

"Theek hai, meri jaan. So what has been going on while I was out? Minus Farrukh being alive and well." I rolled my eyes at the last part.

"Well, Fahad and Rubab are married now." Misha paused for a second before replying. I felt my eyes widen to the size of saucers.

"Did he force her to get nikkah-fied? Nah, he is too smart for that. Did he manipulate his way through it? And without me?" And then my head went into overdrive thinking of all the possible ways the womanizer convinced Rubab.

"Gee sahi. Bohat achay lafzon men mujhe yaad kiya ja raha hai. Misha kaam jhoot bolo. Kar hi na lay Rubab mere se shadi. Woh pathar mere messages ka jawab tak nahi deti. But don't worry, a time will come when she will marry me willingly and all of you will be shook. (Yeah right. I see I am being talked about in very wonderful words. Misha don't lie. As if she would really marry me. That rock isn't replying to my texts either.)" Fahad closed the door behind him as sarcasm constantly dripped from his mouth. He then paused and gave me a long, caring look.

"Sirf Misha ko mujhe aisay pyar se dekhnay ka haq hai. (Only Misha has the right to look at me with love like that.)" I remarked which caused Fahad to smirk. He took three long strides and stood before me.

"Agar tu aisay jawab dena shuru hogaya hai matlab waqaye wapis agaya hai. (Since tou are giving such answers, it means you really are back.)" Fahad bent down and held my face in his hands causing me to frown as he touched his forehead with mine. In a barely audible serious voice he said, "Wapis anay ke liye shukariya. Tere beghair zindagi bohat adhoori hai, bhai. (Thank you for coming back. Life without you is really empty, brother.)"

"I know. Mere beghair tum logon ka kya bhanega? (What will you both do without me?)" I grinned and Fahad returned it as he sat down on a seat beside my bed. I slowly got up because the doctor had prescribed painkillers so it was easier to move.

Misha looked at us with a soft smile and kind eyes as if she could feel our bond too. Her phone started to vibrate so she took it out and frowned for a quick second before masking her emotions. Something that didn't escape my observation. She looked up at us with a pleasant smile which I knew was forced as she answered, "I am going to step out for a minute, I need to take this call."

I nodded as she stepped outside. I was about to ask Fahad to check up on who had called but he beat me to it.

"Stop jumping to conclusions. It's Rubab. She is avoiding me these days so whenever she calls and I am around, Misha leaves the room to pick her call. They think it's stealth and I wouldn't find out. I can feel her iciness from the phone. It means she is coming here after asking for clearance. Well, guess what, there is a surprise waiting for her this time and I am not just talking about you waking up." Fahad muttered more to himself than me. For a second, he had a really dark and mischievous look on his face as he laughed to himself. "Does Ice Queen think she can avoid me like this? Tch. She has no idea who she is messing with."

I was relieved to see that Fahad was doing well and was up to his usual evil schemes. I felt slightly bad for Rubab because she really had no idea what a lethal mastermind Fahad was. He was a true politician at heart. The smartest among all three of us. He always had a plan. Even his backup plans had backup plans. He was the best of allies and most dangerous of enemies.

"What about Shahbaz? I heard a fourth gunshot but the doctor told me I was only shot twice. I am sure the third bullet whizzed past me. What about the fourth? Did you shoot or was it Kamran?" I was genuinely curious. I didn't want to ask Misha because I knew it would bring back memories for her.

"Oh so Misha didn't tell you?" Fahad snapped out of his evil plotting as he gave me a tilted head look.

"Tell me what?" I hated hearing such stuff.

"She was the one who shot the fourth bullet. It hit Shahbaz in the throat. Kamran handled the mess." I felt my heart skip a beat at the truth. Misha shot from a gun? And it actually hit a man?

"What? Misha did?" I felt goosebumps travel through my body. I was so proud of her. She really had saved me even back then. She was the perfect wife.

"Yeah. Shahbaz fell from the vigo and Kamran shot him twice causing permanent damage to his spine. He is paralyzed legs down and has an artificial pipe shoved down his throat for breathing. His family has called off their relation to politics forever." Fahad paused before giving me a look I knew all too well. "He said Saba was the one to tell him about Misha and you. Don't worry about her, I have a plan for her too. I am just waiting for the right moment."

"I see. What about our fathers? How did they react? Where is Kamran?" It really started to dawn on me that I had been out for 38 days. So much has happened.

"Well, Saqib uncle, Chachu and dad wanted to beat our asses up but they decided to take their anger out on Shahbaz and Saba's family. You know the usual pattern. Broken bones. Ripped nails. Bankruptcy from the shadows." Fahad shrugged as he picked up an apple from the fruit basket and sat back down again. "Kamran is taking care of your political obligations back in Karachi. This isn't even the best part."

"Ahan? What is?"

"Your parents and Misha's parents are real tight now. Auntie is living with Misha's parents here in Lahore. I am sure she is on her way now." I felt the words slowly absorb me. Did I heard that right? They were fine with each other now? That was probably the best news I could hear. "Kamran texted me just now saying he and the big boys will be arriving in Lahore in 3 hours by the private jet."

I nodded trying to wrap my head around everything. Misha re-entered the room and as expected she gave Fahad a wary look before sitting on the sofa.

"I want to stick around longer but I need to break some ice to cool my head so I will be back shortly." Fahad winked as he dropped the remaining apple in a dustbin near the door and stepped outside while humming to himself. I knew that aura. He was out hunting for his prey.

The moment he stepped outside, Misha quickly typed a text and put her phone on the side as she came and sat beside me. I wanted to tell her to warn Rubab but this matter didn't concern me. The two of them could handle it on their own.

"So you shot a man huh?" I broke the silence.

"He hurt you. He was going to hurt you again. It was either us or him." Misha said with such determination in her bright blue eyes that I felt a shiver run down my spine.

"I am proud of you. Marrying you was really the best choice I could make."

"Likewise." We sat in a peaceful silence but it didn't last long as the door slammed open and I saw a teary eyed ammi. She rushed to my side and wrapped her arms around me as she started to weep softly.

Misha took that as her cue to give the two of us space so she stepped outside and closed the door behind her. For a second, I could see a flicker of Misha's family standing outside. So Fahad was really saying the truth huh?

What a twist.

Fahad's POV:

My back rested against the wall as I waited in the shadows of an eerie corridor in the hospital. As expected, Rubab was coming in this direction. My feet tapped impatiently as I anticipated the right moment. Once she walked past me without noticing me, I gripped her wrist and pulled her towards me.

Pushing her against the wall, I brought my mouth close to her ear as my free hand muffled her mouth so she wouldn't scream.

"Aagh ke sath khel kar bhagna nahi chaiye, Rubab. (You shouldn't run away after playing with fire, Rubab.)"

Author's Note:

Hello and Asalam o Alaikum Lovelies!

So the next chapter is going to be the final showdown between the families. Who is excited? Decisions will be made and let's not forget, we got Ruhad and Zoran too. As I have said before I will be writing a book to cover the other two couples too (InshaAllah) but for now my goal is only to complete this book so yeah that is a move for a later time.
