Chapter 52
Saba's POV:
Just who did he think he was? That Ibraheem Khan Narejo. Men wanted me everywhere. My exes were begging to take me back. How dare he disrespect me? He had taken me lightly. And was that bitch really his wife? I bit my nail hard as I planned my revenge.
I will never forget how he threatened to kill me and my family. Did he think I would give it up all that easily? I thought I had him in my clutches but some random chick snagged him. What was her name again? Manahil? No, it was something else. Misha, I think. I can't believe this. How dare he look at her with such loving eyes? Never once did he look at me with such eyes.
Jealousy. Envy. Want. Was I crazy to still find him handsome? Saba, you must have gone completely insane. But it was true that he was probably the only man I really liked among all my targets. I paced the room back and forth in frustration until I heard the door slam. Shahbaz stepped inside. Ugh. He was ugly. No man seemed attractive after Ibraheem. If Shahbaz wasn't so rich, I wouldn't even look at him.
Shahbaz gave me a smile which I returned with my own fake smile. Wait, I had an idea. This loser was obsessed with Ibraheem's status and position. Maybe, I can use him. No, I will definitely use him.
He can wreck Ibraheem and when Ibraheem hits rock bottom, I will stay by his side and make him mine again. That was a perfect plan. Once, Shahbaz took a seat on the sofa and started smoking sheesha, I sat beside him, leaning into him.
He rose his eyebrow before taking another puff and exhaled the smoke.
"What do you want now? Diamond necklace? New Iphone? Bag?" I rolled my eyes. No, what I wanted was way more precious. I wanted Ibraheem's heart.
"Did you know Ibraheem was married?" Shahbaz halted almost immediately and looked at me with wide eyes.
"Come again?"
"He is married. Did you know that?" I was testing the waters. I was pretty sure he had no idea about it. He was dumb like that. Dumb and ugly.
"No. How do you know?" Shahbaz had put the sheesha on the side, turning his full attention to me. Ugh, I would have preferred if he didn't look at me. I looked at my nails before giving him an unreadable look.
"I met him and his wife in the mall a few hours ago."
"Who is she? Someone you know?" I recalled her face, particularly her vibrant blue eyes that chilled my bones for a few second. Gritting my teeth, I replied with a no. Shahbaz seemed to be in deep thought. "Are you sure about this?"
I nodded while continuing to pretend to be uninterested. Take the bait, you loser. Take it. And he did. He got up from the sofa, taking his phone out in the process.
"What are you going to do?" I was genuinely curious. He had a tiny brain but he must have a plan. I needed to have an idea to plan accordingly.
"What does it look like? I am going to destroy him using her." Shahbaz replied with a smirk as he put the phone to his ear while stepping out of the room. "Rauf, find something out for me."
Once he was gone, I laughed at nothing in particular. Ibraheem agar tum mere nahi hosakte phir kisi aur ke bhi nahi hosakte. (Ibraheem if you can't be mine, you won't belong to anyone else either.)
Present
Ibraheem's POV:
Misha had slept through the plane ride so I was planning to carry her to the car but she was startled awake the moment I touched her. Damn, she was a light sleeper.
"What? What is happening?" She seemed to be panicking so I held her face in my hands as I calmed her down.
"Nothing, my love, we just landed in Lahore." She visibly relaxed after that. The guards had already brought our cars so all we had to do was move to them. I took the range rover while Kamran took his Porsche.
Halka Halka Suroor was playing in the car as I drove the car. Kamran and Fahad were following us in the car behind us. My right hand was on the steering wheel while my left hand was entwined with Misha's right hand. From time to time, her grip would tighten and then relax when she would look at me and give me a weak smile.
"Don't worry, it will be alright. I am with you, jaan. I won't let anything happen to you." I kissed the back of her hand before focusing back on the road.
"I hope, Ibraheem, I really hope." A few minutes later, Misha decided to break the silence with a random question that surprised me. "Jaan?"
"Gee, jaan?" It was pleasant to hear Misha calling me jaan. My habits were probably rubbing off on her too. It was cute. All of her was so cute.
"Do you still drink?" I almost choked on my spit. Never mind what I said before. Her eyes were cold as she gave me a narrowed eye glance.
"Uh, no." I hesitated before replying.
"Oh really?"
"I will leave it again but do you think He will forgive me? Allah, I mean. I had promised to give it up but I went back to it again." I sounded dejected. Would Allah forgive me? I was a recurring sinner. "I think, He has given up on me. I have sinned far too much, Misha."
Misha squeezed my hand tenderly, her eyes turning gentle.
"Never forget that Allah has said 'If your sins were to reach the sky, I would still forgive you.' All you have to do is repent Ibraheem. Repent like you mean it. He will forgive you. His Mercy is infinite." She gave me a heart warming smile as her eyes sparkled and reflected the golden orange skies. Lahore's sunsets weren't that bad either.
"I will do that, Misha, thank you. For everything." I replied. The void in my heart didn't feel so hollow and cold anymore. "I am glad, I married you. You were the perfect piece to fill the emptiness in my heart and soul."
"I am grateful, I married you too. You know, when you were gone five years ago, there had been days when I prayed to God for you. Oh who am I kidding? I prayed for you all the time. For your happiness, for your peace and for us to reunited if Allah wills. You brought me even closer to Allah. You know why?"
"No. Why?" She used to pray for me? That was probably the best thing I heard in my life apart from her confession.
"Because He showed me that miracles can really happen." She blushed as she said that. I felt my heart knot up at her statement. It felt like someone had pulled at my heart strings. Her eyes were so sincere as they looked at me with love and care. "I really love you, Ibraheem. If I had to go back in time, I would still do it all over again. With you. By your side. Every single time. Always. And I know Allah will ease our path every time."
I stopped the car infront of Misha's house as I hugged her. I was about to reply to her confession properly but I paused when I saw the dread take over her facial expressions in seconds.
"I love you more than anything, Misha. Trust me. I won't let any harm come to you." I kissed her forehead to relax her as I opened the door and stepped outside. I rounded the car and opened the door to her side and she stepped outside as well.
The two of us walked towards the main gate and I pressed on the door bell. Her entire body was quivering so I put my arm around her shoulder to comfort her. She relaxed slightly as she gave me a weak smile. Misha's brother opened the door and the moment he saw us, anger quickly took over his features.
"He-" Humayun pushed me back causing me to let go of Misha. Panic quickly took over Misha's features.
"How dare you come back here? Huh?" Humayun roared as he pushed me again and again. "Do you have a death wish?"
Misha's parents stepped outside as well looking at us with a mixture of shock and anger. Misha's father was marching towards Misha while Humayun kept pushing me back and away from Misha.
"I am sorry for before." I replied as I stood my ground. Humayun scoffed while I noticed Misha's mother looking at Misha with concern. She looked like she was going to faint. I wanted to rush to her side but Humayun was blocking my view.
"Are you alright?" Misha's mother questioned Misha who simply nodded in fear.
"I am alright, ammi abbu." Misha croaked out. She gave me a look of help and I was about to walk to her but Humayun dragged me back from the shoulder.
"Where do you think you are going?" Humayun was about to punch me but I easily dodged it.
"To my wife." My reply was absolute. Even Humayun halted for a second as he looked at his and Misha's parent for a reaction.
"Are you two really married?" Misha's father inquired from Misha and she nodded her head. Her father looked disappointed.
"Yes."
"We will not accept this. We do not accept that man. This will end." The words Misha's father said cut deep but I was sure they hurt her more than me. Misha looked like she was going to break down any minute. I pushed Humayun to the side as I rushed to her side. "You will cut off all ties with this man."
"I can't! No. I won't!" Misha retaliated surprising all her family members. "I love him and he loves me."
"This is not love. This is obsession! That man does not love-" Misha's father was cut short when all of us heard a loud car screeching voice. What the? I turned around just in time to look at the source of sound. I noticed Kamran and Fahad standing a little distance from me but it wasn't them.
I looked a little further and spotted a black Tundra coming our way. A tundra with a Sindh number plate. The tundra slowed and Shahbaz opened the door with a revolver in his hand. He gave me the devil's smile as he pointed his pistol towards Misha. I didn't have the time to shoot Shahbaz myself. I had to protect Misha.
The next few seconds happened in a flash. Time stopped as I covered Misha, my back facing Shahbaz as three gun shots rang in the air. I felt the bullets pierce different parts of my body.
"IBRAHEEM!" Misha screamed as I fell on top of her, coughing out blood. The pistol slipped from my fingers. I couldn't shoot him. The damage was too much. But it didn't matter.
Misha. Misha was safe.
And then a fourth gun shot rang in the air.
Author's Note:
I honestly don't know what to write in this author's note. This chapter shook me to the core. Damn, it is devastating.
