Chapter 16

Ibraheem's POV:

"Menay sacha pyar kiya tha tumse. (I truly loved you.)" I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest. And then it clicked. Like a match stick that ignites and brightens up a dark room. I knew what I had to do now.

"Mujhe bhi sacha pyar hi tha. (It was true love for me too.)" Misha said as she wiped her eyes with the back of her palm. "Pehla aur akhri. (First and last.)"

"My only regret was not showing up in your life in these past five years. I should have never left. I should have staked my claim on you. The fear of losing you to someone scared me more than I could ever realize. I thought it was better for me to stay away for both of our sakes. I forgot all my values for you. I shouldn't have done that." I told her softly. The rage within me was slowly vanishing.

"Jo dil karta hai karo, Ibraheem. Bas yeh sab bhool jao. (You can do whatever you want, Ibraheem. Just forget all this.)" Misha looked at me with glassy blue eyes. Oh, Misha, Misha, Misha, how can I forget all this? I smiled at her which caused her eyes to go wide.

"You are right. I should do what I think is right." She looked surprised which amused me. My anger had subsided and now I was just calm. The calm before the storm. "Why are you surprised? Isn't this what you wanted?"

"It is. I am just surprised that you agreed." Misha's tears had dried up completely now. She looked confused which was cute too.

"I just admit that I messed up so I am sorry." I took a step back as to not intimidate her. Play it safe, Ibraheem. I saw Fahad looking at me with a face morphed in shock and surprise. I bet he was thinking something on the lines of 'what the fuck was wrong with him now?'

"It's alright. Let's put the past behind us." There was a pain stricken look on her face and yet she gave me the smallest of the smiles which was a good sign. We were moving on to better things.

"You are right. We should forget the past. We should look towards the future now." Misha nodded in agreement as Zoya handed her a glass of water and she took a sip of it while keeping her eyes on me. She still looked suspicious. "And for starters, how about we help you fix Rubab's problem? I am sure Fahad has a plan." I grinned at Fahad who looked at me as if I had lost my shit. He was right, I had lost it but there was no need to show it. Kamran was silent but even he looked like he was trying to decode my odd behavior. They know my nature and how nearly impossible it was for me to give up just like that. They were right to be suspicious.

"Uh, yeah, right. Now that things are fine between Misha and Ibraheem, how about we all take a seat and discuss things over while we eat?" Fahad offered and all three of the girls looked skeptical but agreed as they took seats. "So what do you guys want to eat?"

"I just ate so I am not hungry." Rubab replied.

"Meri bhook mar gaye hai. (My hunger died.)" Misha added.

"Ah, I am starving. Okay, let me see." Zoya answered as she started to scan the menu and then placed her order.

"You seriously won't do anything now?" Misha asked carefully and I smiled at her politely and she looked like she was going to choke on her water.

"Absolutely nothing that you should be worried about." I assured her and she was seconds away from choking on her water.

"Are you bipolar?" I chuckled at her question. How the heck was she this adorable?

"Not at all. What makes you say that?" I gave her the politician's smile I had mastered over the months.

"No, I mean you were so insistent before and now you just seem okay with everything." Misha said in a partially hoarse voice which was probably because she had cried a few minutes ago. All I wanted to do was hug her when she was crying but I knew she would freak out so I used all my energy to hold back.

"Your happiness is all that matters to me. If that means me giving up then so be it."

"Oh, alright." She was at a loss of words. Silence fell on us after that.

Oh, Misha, my love, my cunning little fox, you really think it's over? It can never be over. I just realized that I had forgotten who I was back then. I am Ibraheem Narejo. And Ibraheem Narejo gets whatever he wants. And all I want is you. Sahi kaha tumne. Men waqaye wohi karunga ab jo mera dil karta hai ab. (You were right. I am seriously going to do what I want from now on.)

Fahad's POV:

Well Ibraheem has officially lost it. I knew he was planning something. There was a glint in his eyes that I knew all too well. It wasn't possible that he had given up on Misha. There was literally no way for that stubborn guy to give up. They had years of history. He was obsessed with her. I had to wait till we were alone to figure out his plan. I turned away from him to look at the girls.

"I have a suggestion." I started and all three of them turned to look at me with interest. "So you are positive that your family won't agree if you say you want to break the engagement?"

"Yeah, they will never agree unless I have a valid reason. I don't think they will believe me if I tell them he is crazy and said all of that." Rubab looked exhausted but how the hell did she look so beautiful even in that state?

"And you really want to break the engagement?" I tried to confirm. I had to set my cards right.

"I think I have made it pretty obvious. I am sorry to say, no wait, I am not even sorry that your friend Zohaib is messed in the head. He is worse than you all and that is saying a lot, even for me." Rubab answered angrily. "Can you get on with your point already?"

"Will your family agree if you tell them you already have someone you love?" I inquired. The wheels in my head were already turning. Rubab looked confused which was a sight to see as well. The ice queen's confusion was so pleasant to the eyes. The ice queen herself was so pleasant, so different, so oddly perfect.

"But I don't. They asked me before the engagement. They said, if I liked someone, they won't do this engagement. It's too late for that plus I don't have a lover in the first place." Rubab explained while I nodded my head in understanding.

"Well now you do." I grinned at her and she just had this unreadable look on her face which then turned to one of anger.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I could hear the barely contained anger in her voice. "You are wasting our time with these stupid assumptions."

"Except, it's not going to be an assumption. Zohaib is crazy and powerful. He won't back off if your family tried to break the engagement, instead it will backfire, right?"

"Yeah." Her one word answers were cold as always.

"But what if someone of his status and power stood against him for you? No, what if someone who is more powerful stood against him?"

"Yeah right. As if that is going to happen." Rubab remarked sarcastically and yet she looked interested. "Who?"

"Me. I will be your lover." Rubab looked like she was going to slap me in the face while Zoya ended up laughing spitting food everywhere while Misha looked shocked. Even Ibraheem looked like he wanted to laugh but he was holding it in and Kamran had an unreadable expression on his face but I knew he was probably thinking both his closest friends had officially lost it. One was admitting his mistakes and backing off from a challenge and the other was offering to be the lover of a girl who probably hates him.

"What bullshit are you spouting?" Rubab wanted to rise from the seat but Zoya held her down while still laughing.

"Hold on, let's hear him out first. This sounds amusing." Zoya added. "Plus, we don't have a lot of options against someone like Zohaib anyway."

"Exactly. So I will pretend to be your lover. I am more powerful than Zohaib's family so I don't think your family will have an issue."

"So you want me to go to my family and tell them that I want to break the engagement with Zohaib because I have a lover? The same lover that was dancing happily on my engagement ceremony?" Rubab looked, well, in one word enraged. "How the hell do I explain that to them? Is this a joke to you?"

"No, well, yes, we will need to think of an explanation for that. But this seems to be the best idea."

"This is absurd on so many levels of absurd." Rubab rose from the seat. "Even if I go ahead with this stupid idea, my reputation will be ruined but then again, you don't care about that either, do you? Why would you? You won't have anything to lose. This is all just a game to the likes of you. I am the one that will be disgraced in the family for suddenly having a lover while I am engaged to someone else."

"Then would you rather marry that psychopath?"

"No but, isn't there some other way?"

"I can't think of any other and from what I have heard, Salman's family is planning to get you both married the following year. Nikkah and all." I interjected and waited for the magic to work.

"What?! But they said they won't do so until I have graduated." Her anger changed to shock.

"Well, if your fiancée is such a nut job, I wouldn't be surprised if they did this." I shrugged as I waited for her to freak out.

"No, this can't be happening."

"Also, you are wrong about one other thing." She looked up at me in that same icy manner that sent chills down my spine. I was surprised at how quickly her emotions went back to being non existent.

"What thing?"

"Fahad Abroo ne aj tak apne naam ke sath kisi larki ko naam nahi lagane diya. Tum pehli hogi jisko yeh haq milega. (Fahad Abroo has never let any girl get associated with his name. You will be the first to have this right.)" I told her proudly but she burst my bubble the next second.

"But aren't you a player?"

"I am. But I never gave women the false hope of having a future with me. I made sure they knew where they stood in my life which was nowhere. Think on this for a while Rubab and then call me if you want to go ahead with this. That is, if you finally have a phone now unlike five years ago." I ended my note by handing my card to her.

"What do you get out of this?" Rubab narrowed her eyes at me as she took the card and read it over.

"I just want to put someone in their right place." I replied nonchalantly. Rubab just nodded as the entire table fell silent. "Take your time. Apologies for the trouble we put you guys through. We will be leaving now. The food is on us."

With that, we rose from the table. Kamran took a little longer because he was staring at Zoya who was busy eating while Ibraheem seemed awfully calm as he smiled at Misha who looked like a deer caught in headlights. We bowed our heads slightly and said our goodbyes before leaving to pay for the food at the counter and then walked out.

"So Salman's family wants to hold the marriage the next year, huh? How did I not know about this?" Ibraheem smirked as he sat down in the driver's seat while I took the passenger seat. Kamran went to his own car. Ibraheem knew all too well that I had lied. Salman hadn't mentioned anything about a marriage but maybe, like I said, if Zohaib was that crazy, he would probably force them to have it early.

"Sometimes you need to pull some strings to get what you want." I replied coolly and Ibraheem grinned. "Aren't you doing the same thing? With Misha?"

"Don't call her Misha. Bhabhi hai teri. (She is your sister in law.)" Ibraheem declared as he reversed the car.

"Mera nahi khayal ke woh Bhabhi bhana chahti hai. (I don't think she wants to be my sister in law.)" I replied as I lit up a cigarette.

"Woh tou bohat kuch nahi chahti. Uska view sun liya hai. Ab meri bari. (She doesn't want a lot of things. I have heard her view. Now it's time for her to hear mine."
