Three: Run Away
Erin
I wandered inside my room as I deeply thought of what could happen. Dad said that I can't go to school tomorrow, since we had to pack up the place. I sat by my bedroom's window seat and watched the big round moon glow against the starlight.
My door creaked open. "Erin, darling. You really have to start packing your things.", my father's sweet, but bitter voice said.
I didn't dare to turn my face to meet his eyes, nor even mouth a word at him. I just stared at the moon, and tried blocking out whatever he wanted to say.
"I know you don't understand it, Erin.", his voice started getting louder. "But you are an heir to the company, and I can't let you be with... that guy."
It took me all the courage I had to turn around and yell, "You don't know Jack, Dad. And you don't even know me! I understand what kind of person I am to the company, but don't you understand what kind of person I am to the family?", I stopped to see his raging face.
"I'm your daughter, Dad. Why don't you want me to be happy?", I continued.
He looked down, "Nothing will change my mind. We are moving as far as we could from Pennsylvania.". He finished his statement sternly, "And there is nothing you can do about it, Erin. Whether you like it or not, we are moving."
He closed my door and left me alone to think.
This wasn't fair
He can't lock me away from the world forever...
Jack
Erin was supposed to be here in front of the school, so we could walk together to our class... which is both Science. She wasn't here... nor her strange body guards who dress up like students from the 80's.
"Hey guys?", I approached Merida and Rapunzel. "Have you seen Erin?"
Rapunzel shook her head, "She wasn't with me on any of our classes."
"Me too.", Merida frowned. "Where do you think she's gone off to?"
"I don't know.", I looked down. "But I think I know where she is."
"Where?", the two girls said in unison.
"Back at her house.", I said. "Packing."
"So Erin is leaving?", Flynn said as we sat down on a table in the cafeteria. It was now our free period, and Erin was still out of sight.
"Yeah,", I said.
He eyed me closely, "And there is nothing you can do about it?"
I stopped for a moment to think about what Flynn said.
There is something you can do Jack...
What?
Run away...
"There is something I could do.", I said to Flynn.
He gave me a small smile, "Whatever it is, good luck."
I needed to have a plan... a great plan. I can't just sneak into the Winters' mansion easily. There was a gate... and a backup gate... which Erin and I had created. It was a small opening on the stone wall, which we covered with thick vines.
We only used that for emergencies... and this, was an absolute emergency.
Right after school, I raced to my motorcycle and drove it to Erin's house, and hopefully she would be there... waiting for our escape.
Erin
My large room has never felt so empty before. My bed was gone, and all my other furniture... like my cushion sofa, and that red beanbag that Anna loved.
Speaking of Anna, she's quite excited that we're moving. She love adventure, and even though she's leaving her friends, she was always so optimistic about it.
"Hey, Erin!", Anna said as she got inside my room. "You should be downstairs already! The last moving van has already been loaded."
"I'll be right down, lil sis.", I smiled at her with all my heart. "I just have to... think about something."
"Okay then, Erin.", she smiled and dawdled out of the room. "Oh, and the pillow that I borrowed from you last week is in my box of stuff, okay?"
I nodded and turned my gaze back to the place where that pillow used to be.
That pillow was a gift... from my mom. Even though I never see her as much as I used to, I stll love her. Even though Dad was quite a tough nut, she was always so nice and so caring towards him, me and Anna. She was the only source of fun for me and Anna, until she left the house to work somewhere else.
Sometimes I think that the story that was continuously told by my father about her departure was wrong.
What if my mom had a different family? And she chose that family over us?
I tear fell on my cheek... I didn't want to think so deeply about that subject. I felt so sorry for Anna, since Mom was not around for about most of her life.
We were leaving in just a matter of minutes. I could hear Dad barking out orders about who's gonna take care of the house while we're gone.
I was still sitting on that same place on the window sill... looking at the huge trucks which contained more than furniture... but memories.
Memories of those days with Jack... and my other friends...
Jack...
I'm so sorry...
Jack
The winds blew my silver hair as I rushed to the back gate of the house. Many moving vans were around the place, and I hope that she's still there...
I parked my bike behind some bushes and cut through the vines that covered the opening of the wall. I ran to the window of Erin's room... which was unfortunately on the second floor of the house.
I peered into the open windows, trying to see if Erin was still there.
"Erin!", I shouted on a low tone, careful not to be heard by the other people outside the house, especially her father.
I heard a few stumbles coming from the window, and Erin's head soon came to view, "Jack! What are you doing here?"
"No!", I said. "The question is, what are you doing there? Get down here!"
"I can't, Jack.", Erin's voice lowered. "I have to go..."
"No, Erin.", I said. "You don't."
She frowned and gave me a curious look.
"Run away with me, Erin.", I said boldly. "I can't live without you... I love you so much."
Erin covered her mouth, and she started crying... "Yes, Jack. I will run away."
Erin's room had a staircase that led her outside of the house, without even going through the living room. It was an escape path...
Soon enough, she emerged from the hollow opening of the mansion and she leaped to my arms, "Jack!"
I held her hand and kissed her, "Let's go."
We hopped on my motorbike and as I started the engine, her dad saw me... running away with her daughter, "Erin! NO!"
The body guards ran after us as we rode as fast as we could out of the stone wall.
"Go faster!", Erin said as her grip on my waist became tighter.
Several cars chased after us, but I was fast enough to keep going.
I was scared...
I didn't know where to go...
But with Erin by my side, I know nothing could go wrong...
But could it?
