Thirteen: Why Me?

Jack

"Where did you two go?", Once-ler confronted me as I shut the door behind my office.

"Relax, Once.", I said. "We just got trapped in the elevator, and then I took her out to lunch. Just that. No dating whatsoever."

"There better be nothing, Jack.", he said. "Elsa is mine."

I gave him a weird look, cocking my head to the side.

He's going to be one overly attached boyfriend for sure.

Once-ler exited the room with a glare. I sat back on my seat and watched Elsa giggle from the other side of the glass panes of my office.

I got lost in her for a few minutes, until she looked up at me through the glass and gave me a smile and a soundless giggle. My eyes widened and I placed back on a I-wasn't-staring-at-you-seriously face.

But I couldn't keep up that mask and I smiled. She stuck her tongue at me and continued giggling. Audrey noticed the sudden whimsical feeling, and followed Elsa's gaze. She looked down and muttered things as Audrey poked her shoulder.

When Audrey's attention was gone from her, she looked back at me with a smile.

I returned that smile and faced forward at Rapunzel.

"Are you even listening to me, Jack?", she whined. "I understand that Elsa is a very beautiful creature, but would you please listen to something that matters right now?"

"I wasn't, I mean I was but-"

"Yeah, okay.", she rolled her eyes with a smirk. "Are you planning to ask her out soon?"

"No...", I said. "I mean, she's really pretty and really nice but-"

"But what?", she raised an eyebrow. "Is this what you and Once-ler were talking about?"

"No...", I lied.

She tossed her high ponytail to the side, "Oh Jack, I know you too well."

I shrugged.

"Well, if you want the girl...", she said. "Then go ahead and kiss the girl."

"WHAT?", I yelled.

"Just kidding.", she smiled as she went for the door. "Just remember, that I'm happy that you have found someone other than Erin... And don't worry about Once-ler. You've got so much class than him"

Rapunzel walked out of my office as I looked over at the empty desk that I had.

I was done for the day.

I looked back at Elsa, seeing that she was packing up as well.

My smart head thought of walking out when she was near my office, so we would bump into each other. So meeting her would be as smooth as a smoothie.

She walked out of her cubicle, then suddenly...

Once-ler came into the rescue. I couldn't hear what they were talking about, but Elsa was giving him a relentless smile, which kinda filled my heart with envy.

Soon enough, Once-ler swept Elsa away out of the building.

I walked out of my office, and Once-ler looked back at me before entering that elevator.

He had this blood boiling smirk on his face that I would seriously love to smack out.

So, this is how you play it.

Let the games begin.

Elsa

"Hey Elsa", Once-ler greeted me as I stopped in front of Jack's office.

Shoot, I thought he was leaving, so I stood up to bump into him... Smooth as ranch dressing. Wait, ranch dressing ain't smooth. It's more of an almost-smooth thing. Oh well, there goes my perfect analogy.

Once-ler smiled as he spoke, "Do you want to get some coffee somewhere?"

I glanced back at Jack, who was standing in his office... 

"Sure...", I said... faking a smile. Gee, I was hoping to treat Jack... since he did the same for me this morning.

"Cool.", Once-ler flashed his pearly white grin.

Nope, Jack wins this round

Wait, what am I thinking?

"Let's go.", Once-ler took my hand and he walked me towards the elevator.

I glanced back at Jack's office, and he was looking back at me. I froze and turned my head front.

I went first in the elevator, and Once-ler was talking about this new coffee shop that just opened right in the corner, which was next to that Japanese restaurant.

Tirelessly nodding at whatever he said, the elevator travelled so slowly as it seems.

I really wasn't expecting Once-ler to pop out like a mushroom, all of a sudden.

I was wondering if Jack would like to.... well, I guess I just don't have any luck in love.

Plus, that dude might already have a girlfriend.

Seriously, he's so gorgeous... he must have one.

Okay, I admit it. I like his face.

I like how his eyes squint when he laughs.

I like how his eyebrows furrow when I try to disagree with him.

I like how his smirk melts my heart every time.

I like... I like him...

Maybe just a little, but I don't really know. I don't want to crush on him too hard, since I don't want to expect the same coming from him.

Expecting love from someone who will never ever give it to you is the reason why this world is ever so shattered.

"Elsa?", Once-ler stopped drinking. "You okay?"

"Yeah... I'm just tired.", I faked another smile... and another yawn at him.

His face fell, "Well, I'll take you home."

"No I can-"

"It's okay.", he cut out my protest.

I nodded, and he took  me home.

After a few points and a couple of turns, we arrived at my house. The lights were on.

Annie was most probably at home as well.

"Thanks Once-ler.", I said as I stepped out of the car.

He smiled, "You're welcome, Els."

Then, the most sudden thing happened.

He kissed me.

HE KISSED ME.

I don't know if I should be mad for stealing a kiss from me, or should I be happy that someone likes me.

He blushed and looked down, "Bye."

I waved... dumbfounded, and I couldn't say anything.

I have no idea... My feelings went all fuzzy inside. Confusion and curiosity.

Why me?

I don't have much to say (or rant) today...

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT 1989 IS COMING TOMORROOOOOW.

But of course, I'm from a wee Asian country, so it'll be out on Nov 8 here.

I am obsessed with Honey Lemon. Srsly, she's gonna be my next favorite girl.
