Ch.4 Close call

~Y/n pov~

Cheong-san threw the makeshift rope out of the window.

Gyeong-su peered out of the window, "Are we gonna make it down there?"

"Let's hope so." I responded, "Who's going first?"

"I'll go down and check the empty rooms. I'll call when it's clear, okay?" Cheong-san told us.

Cheong-san paused and glanced back down at On-jo before deciding he's not going.

"You go first." He told Gyeong-su.

"Why? Did you see something?" Gyeong-su protested.

He glanced at me in worry.

"Go down okay. We'll all be down in a minute." I smiled reassuringly at him.

He nodded and started to climb down.

I stood near the window, watching him to make sure he's okay.

He was going down painfully slowly.

"I want to go now." Na-yeon tried to push us all out of the way.

Cheong-san stopped her, "One person at a time. It's dangerous if more people go."

I noticed the window open and it looked like someone helped him in.

"Hey, guys!" Gyeong-su yelled up at us, "Ms Park is here!"

"The broadcasting room?" I asked.

I watched as others began to climb down.

One person after the next.

I was one of the last people to go down.

I wanted to make sure everyone was okay.

As soon as I climbed through the window of the broadcasting room, Gyeong-su brought me into a tight hug.

"You're okay." He breathed out in relief, his hands clutching my shirt.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

The other helped On-jo in too.

The only person left was Cheong-san.

Lots of zombies flew past the window and headed towards the ground.

Was one of those bodies Cheong-san? I hope not but I couldn't tell.

It all happened so quickly.

"Kick her off or something."

Was that Su-hyeok?

I could hear a growling noise like a zombie.

Taking advantage of my now sensitive ears, I listened to try and figure out what was going on.

Cheong-san was out there with a zombie grabbing onto him.

And I guess somehow Su-hyeok made his way here.

Cheong-san body dropped so we could see the bottom half of it dangling off the rope.

There was a zombie trying to climb up his leg.

"Hey. I'm coming down." I heard Su-Hyeok tell him.

"No, stay there."

"I'm coming."

"Don't."

I could heard them shuffling around for a few moments.

"What are you doing?" Cheong-san asked in surprise.

"Hold on, moron."

I raised an eyebrow as I saw Su-hyeok's leg kick the zombie off of them.

Everyone backed away from the window as the zombie flew towards the ground.

A few people stuck their head out the window to watch them climb down.

"Hey. Stop hugging me." Cheong-san complained as Su-hyeok was clinging onto his waist.

"I'm not hugging you." Su-hyeok responded, out of breath.

"Fuck off."

"You like it?"

They both laughed and then climbed down.

"Would you just close it already?" Na-yeon whined.

We all ignored her and helped Cheong-san and Su-hyeok in before closing the window.

"What's wrong with you? Cheong-san was still out there. You want us to shut him out!" Gyeong-su yelled angrily.

"Is it a crime to want the window closed?" Na-yeom responded as if nothing was wrong.

"How can you be so selfish?"

Na-yeon glared at him, "I can't stand you, you stupid welfie."

It was silent for a few moments as everyone just stared at them.

Gyeong-su smacked her which made her stumble back and fall into a chair, "What did you just call me?"

Cheong-san grabbed Gyeong-su's arm and pulled him back.

"You just hit me?" Na-yeon narrowed her eyes at him.

"Yeah. Call me that again."

Ms Park came over, "Hey, knock it off. What's going on over here, guys?"

"He just hit me." Na-yeon told her as if she hadn't done anything wrong.

"Only because you called me a welfie." Gyeong-su retorted.

"It it not true?"

"You can't just say shit like that." Cheong-san defended Gyeong-su.

"What's a welfie?" Ms Park asked.

There was an awkward silence for a few moments before someone responded.

"A person a welfare. Welfie for short."

Ms Park sighed, "Na-yeon that was wrong. Don't ever say that again. And Gyeong-su. When you hit people, you're the one who ends up losing. Do you understand? Listen, we can't be fighting each other at a time like this."

"What about the other teachers? Has anyone called the police?" Ji-min asked.

"Don't worry, I'm sure someone else already has." Ms Park responded.

"The internet."

We quickly gathered around the computer.

Joon-yeon sighed, "School ones are slow."

"Maybe it's not online?" Wu-jin stated.

"No, it is."

"It's gonna take all day."

There was a logging in noise.

"Open the browser."

"The browser."

I sat myself down on a chair as everyone else was crowded around the computer in a big clump.

The chair was nearest the window as Gyeong-su was sat on the windowsill.

"Look up zombie virus."

There was a clink noise.

I looked up and saw the hose tapping against the window.

Why is it moving?

I heard a faint growl.

My eyes widened in alarm as I shot up and grabbed Gyeong-su's hand, pulling him away from the window.

"What?" He asked.

No one else had noticed yet.

They were too busy stood at the computer.

The hose swung at the window and shattered a part of it.

Everyone jumped and turned to look at it.

Gyeong-su stepped back and grabbed onto my arm.

The hose swung again, shattering more of the glass.

We all watched as the hose swung back and forth.

Cheong-san slowly edged his way towards the window.

"Be careful."

He stopped at the window.

"It's just the wind." Someone stated.

A zombie suddenly appeared in the window and let out a growl noise.

Cheong-san jumped back in shock and slipped, falling onto his ass.

It grabbed onto the window and thrashed around, trying to reach us.

It's legs were tangled in the loops.

Was it there the whole time? Did it jump down and get stuck?

"Get back." Dae-su told Cheong-san.

Gyeong-su's grip on my arm tightened.

Cheong-san grabbed a mop and tried to push the zombie out of the window.

"Push it! Push it off!" Su-hyeok yelled to him.

"Did you get it?" Dae-su asked.

The zombie grabbed onto the mop and they began wrestling for it.

I raced forward and grabbed the mop, trying to shove the zombie off it.

For a second, it looked like it was working.

Of course it didn't work.

Although I seemed to be way stronger than before.

Is it because I'm a zombie?

Maybe another shove would do it.

"Move!" Su-hyeok shoved Cheong-san out of the way and started shoving the mop too.

"Duck!" Gyeong-su yelled.

We both ducked as he flung the computer at the zombie.

The computer collided with the zombie and it went falling to the ground.

Everyone gathered around the window and watched as the zombie casually got up and ran off.

"That was crazy." Dae-su sighed.

"That was scary." Gyeong-su sighed in relief and grabbed my hand, giving it a squeeze.

"Hey. You..." Na-yeon was silent for a few seconds.

We looked towards her.

"You're bleeding."

He pulled his hand away from mine to check.

I noticed he had a nose bleed.

Internally, I was panicking.

I quickly glanced down at his hands and sleeves.

There was no bite mark off any kind.

I noticed a small cut on his hand, but I saw
On-jo get scratched by Hyeon-ju before so he should be fine.

Gyeong-su reached up and wiped the blood away from his nose.

"Su-hyeok hit me with a fucking mop." Gyeong-su laughed slightly.

"Stay back. Stay where you are." Na-yeon demanded with a panicked voice, "You were bitten, weren't you?"

"There's no bite mark." I stated.

"Of course you would try and protect him. He's been bitten and I'll prove it." Na-yeon yelled angrily.

"What's your fucking problem with me?!" Gyeong-su huffed angrily.

"I-sak got a nosebleed just before she turned."

~*~

Gyeong-su decided to stay in the soundproof room connected to the broadcasting room to stop any argument.

He only had to stay in there for five minutes but he was still in there.

I knew he was angry and stubborn so he wouldn't come out for a while.

He whipped his head around when I opened the door.

"I'm not coming out." He stated and turned back around.

"I know." I closed the door behind me and walked over to him, sitting next to him.

It was silent for a few moments before he turned to me.

He had a frown on his face and his eyes looked watery.

I moved my chair right next to his and grabbed his hand.

"You okay?" I asked softly.

We were both facing away from the screen, though I'm sure a few people were watching us.

If I turned around I bet they'd quickly look away and pretend to look busy.

Gyeong-su bit his lip, "I'm so angry and so done..."

He closed his eyes as tears slipped down his cheeks.

I let go off his hand and moved my arm around his waist.

He leaned into me and rested his head on my shoulder.

My other hand gently wiped the tears off his cheeks as he cried.

"Just let it all out."

I rubbed my hand up and down his side and I held his close.

"Thanks. I love you." Gyeong-su smiled as he wiped any traces that he had been crying away.

"I love you too. We'll get through this... together." I smiled sadly, "I know you're afraid... me too."

Cheong-san suddenly knocked on the window.

He made a motion as if he was whistling.

Gyeong-su smiled and whistled back.

Cheong-san started making silly faces which made them both laugh.

Gyeong-su flipped him off, "What a fucking idiot."

He laughed and leaned his head back against my arm.

"Want to be left alone again? This seems like a good place to think." I noticed how silent the room was.

Gyeong-su nodded, "A lot has happened today. I need to process all this shit."

I pressed a kiss against his forehead.

"Come out soon."

He sighed, "Yeah I will."

I smiled and left the room.

The others were sat around doing their own thing.

I went and sat near Nam-ra.

"You doing okay?"

She looked at me blankly when I spoke.

I thought she was going to snap at me but she sighed instead.

"What do you think?" She huffed.

I was expecting her to leave it at that but she continued to talk.

"Today's been shit." Nam-ra stated bluntly.

"You can say that again."

She wasn't looking at me as she spoke, but I didn't say anything about it.

"Hey, I've always wondered.. do you like hate people?" I said after a few moments of silence.

"What?" She smiled in disbelief, "Why would you think that?"

"You've never talked to anyone before so..."

The smile dropped, "Yeah... I didn't know how to make friends."

"Really? Is that it?"

She nodded, still not facing me.

I followed her line of sight and saw Na-yeon slipping something into her pocket.

I narrowed my eyes at her.

What is she doing?

I watched as the others forced her to go and apologise, though I knew she wouldn't.

"It's not that easy..." Nam-ra sighed, finally turning to face me.

"I understand. I had a lot of difficulty with making friends. I mean.. I only have three friends and all of them are boys."

Nam-ra chuckled slightly.

"I'll be your friend." I smiled.

She blinked in surprise before smiling, "I'd like that."

I turned back to watch through the glass and watched Na-yeon pull a cloth out of her pocket.

She started wiping away the blood on Gyeong-su's hand.

Somethings off? What is she planning?

My eyes flickered over to where she was stood earlier.

I noticed the bloody mop in the corner.

She wouldn't.... Would she?
