Chapter 5: Tom and Jerry

(Y'all don't even know- I just thought of two cartoon characters, this chapter was almost named "Gun" and "Him".)

8:45am

Throughout the Todoroki house, there was the noise of construction. Or at least, it sounded that way. Their father was throwing one of his tantrums.

"What's wrong with him?" Natsuo asked. He had just gotten home from a friends house and was confused by their father's behavior. He wasn't surprised but he didn't know why he was acting up like this.

As Fuyumi cooked breakfast for herself and her brother, she listened to the news through her headphones. She found this kind of thing interesting but tragic. Especially because it was most likely an accident with no known cause.

"Fuyu?"

"Oh, what?" She asked, removing her headphones.

"Why's the guy being a toddler?"

"Oh? Turn on the news. It's all everyone is talking about!" Fuyumi said. Natsuo turned to the tv and turned it on. The first channel to turn on was always the news.

"Tragedy for the country"

"The Yaoyorozu's, a family known for their efforts to assist heroes and design hero attire, have been rushed to the hospital. Late last night, a fire broke out, burning the Yaoyorozu Estate to the ground. The mother who was severely burned called emergency services. As there is no certain cause of the fire, police believe this was an accident, not arson."

"He's friends with the Yaoyorozu family?" The second youngest Todoroki son asked.

"Mhm. It's all they're talking about on the news. They're still searching for their daughter and pets, but Murielle and August are being treated already. It's a shame." Fuyumi sighed, remembering the food on the stove.

"Damn."

-------

Momo backed up against a wall, praying this was just a dream. She didn't expect to get saved if this was real, but she really hoped she would. Her mom could come and save her. She was a hero. Maybe another hero would save her. She didn't know what she was thinking. She was desperate.

Momo could hear the door to whatever she was in, begin to open. It sounded like a garage door. She was probably in a warehouse or someone's home. She was in the corner, lightly sobbing.

"Aww... she's scared."

"Where am I?" She asked. The lights turned on.

She was correct, she was in a warehouse. She started whispering to herself, not knowing what the hell was going on. She knew she had been kidnapped but was questioning why. She couldn't have been any use to them. Then there was her dad. He could make something if he just thought of it and it was near him. She had to try very hard just to get something she wanted. A simple rubber ducky or something like that. Took a while to make.

Then again, she was in a warehouse. An empty one at that. August could easily escape just by making something simple. That must've been why they wanted her. She had a special version of his quirk.

She was just harder to deal with.

Not because she was tall and strong or anything. She wasn't as strong as her mom or dad. She also didn't have much to offer except for her quirk. Her quirk was what was hard to deal with, not her.

"You'll be staying here for the next few hours."

So it wasn't some hoodlums that just kidnapped her. It was part of an organization.

"Are my parents ok? Where are they?"

Both of the guys stood there and said nothing. They had seen the news. She hadn't. She was smart enough to know a bit of body language and the way they stood said something was off.

"They're dead aren't they?"

"Let's go with that."

Momo didn't question it. She assumed it meant they were somewhat close to death but still alive.

"What do you want?" She asked. She was completely capable of running right now but one of them had a gun. And she assumed she was in an area that wouldn't care too much if they heard a gunshot. That's most likely what they thought too. That's why she wasn't tied up. Because she was smart and knew very well that she could die just because of the glock the taller man had.

But they wouldn't shoot her if they needed her?

Especially if a higher up was behind this.

"You won't shoot me. You can't." She said. "Your gun is only there to threaten me."

"You're smart for a twelve year old." The taller man smirked. The fact that neither of them hid their face from her was alarming. What if they used her quirk and when they got everything they needed, then kill her? They obviously weren't trying to be anonymous.

Now she was nervous. She decided to just be compliant to whatever they needed.

"What do you need from me? I just wanna go home." She said, curled up in the corner.

They both looked at the other and shrugged. They didn't even know what they needed her for. She had to keep reminding herself that this was something that higher ups arranged, not them.

"Look kid, we're just following orders." The shorter one with brown hair and mouse ears groaned. Momo's heart stopped pounding just because she heard that.

"Ok. Then why are you here now?" She asked. She was beginning to get on their nerves. All these questions. She decided that was her last question just so she didn't piss them off.

Both of them stayed quiet.

"Wanna play a game?" She stuttered to ask. It was all she could think of now that she wasn't getting any answers. She made a stack of Uno cards. "I know how to shuffle."

The two guys shrugged and sat down.

"So what're your names?"

"Tom"

"Jerry"

The three of them sat in the middle of the warehouse, playing Uno. Jerry, the mouse eared man and Tom, the tall white haired man, were both pretty awful at it, though it was an easy game. She read them the rules and taught them a bit afterwards.

"Don't make me hurt you."

"Dude chill out it's a game!" Momo panicked as Jerry threatened Tom.

"He's cheating!"

"This is fine." Tom said, shrugging at Jerry held him by the collar of his shirt, which was covered by his bullet proof vest. That was slightly concerning.

"Let's continue!" She separated the two adults who were acting like children.

For the next few hours it continued like that. Momo making board games and Tom and Jerry just enjoying it and being sore losers. They learned a bit about each other every game. Tom had a girlfriend that abandoned him for a richer guy, Jerry was just a weirdo.

Then the warehouse door opened up. It was a tiny door to Match the pretty small warehouse But even when the door opened, she didn't have an opening to leave. There was a truck in front of the opening and it was large enough to cover up the opening and there were several people as well. She wasn't going to try and escape.

Tom and Jerry immediately stood up. Tom offered her a hand up and she took it. She was glad they had become somewhat friendly. She wishes she could go back to the week before and do anything to change her situation.

She never liked heroes but now that she felt she was in danger, she prayed one was gonna investigate and not believe it was her mistake, but arson. It seemed petty to only believe in theme after being in danger but she was nervous.

Instead of being thrown into the trunk of the vehicle, she was helped into it by her new "friends". They handed her one of those mini flashlights that children carried around to mess with their parents before they closed the door.

She doubted she'd see them again.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

I didn't feel like writing this chapter. Next chapter will most likely be longer cuz I wanna wrap up this introduction to Momo. I kinda wanna make this Jane The Virgin crazy but not Jane the Virgin crazy at the same time. But then I remember I can't-
