The initial blare of the alarms jolted me out of my sleep. Knowing what that meant, I jump out of bed and quickly loaded my crossbow. (Nice participial phrase lol) Even though I was only fourteen, I was appearntly one of the best vampire hunters in the Hunter Association. I personally thought it was pure dumb luck mixed with pure rage and persistence, but all of the elites seemed very impressed with me. I rolled my eyes at the thought.  I joined the Association for two reasons- to survive and for revenge. (That "-" should actually be a ":" btw)

A vampire killed my mother when I was too young to remember. Three years ago, one killed my sister; that time, I was there (to) watch- and I couldn't save her. (Ah that "-" should be a comma) The vampire was also killed, sure, but that wasn't enough for me. I became a hunter so I could help to rid the world of those beasts in human form.

As I was waiting for orders with the other hunters, I glanced over at one of the more experienced ones, Annabeth Chase, who seemed to be deep in thought. (Your grammar is beAUTIFUL)

"What's up?" I asked her.

"Hm?" she looked at me, "Oh, I was just thinking..."

I rolled my eyes. "You're always thinking. I want to know what you're thinking about."

She sighed. "Its just... these attacks seem to be getting less and less frequent. They hardly ever attack in mass anymore. It's just the occasional human disappearance now," she pondered. "What could that mean?"

I thought for a moment. Of course, I noticed that was happening less and less, but I hadn't thought on it much. "Personally, I think they're trying to lure us into a false sense of security, so they can carry out some evil, diabolical plan, but that's just me."

Annabether started to say something, but the boss came in and and barking the same orders as always. Go in, kill as many as possible, (and) try not to get bitten in the process. As I followed the crowd to where the attack was, my friend(s) Thalia and Reyna fell into step with me.

"Hey Nico," Thalia said, "its been a while since we've talked. Remind me why we don't talk anymore?"

"Because everyone thought you two were dating?" Reyna spit the phrase out like it tasted sour in the mouth. I rolled my eyes. Thalia was nice and all, but iiked my women like I liked my coffee. So not at all.

(Time Skip Because I'm Lazy)

I aimed my crossbow, hesitating momentarily. (Oh nO you kinda messed up this participial phrase. See, right now "hesitating momentarily" is describing "crossbow," the nearest noun.) I had to remind myself just what I was about to kill. A beast in human form who drinks the blood of living humans. I lifted my finger to the trigger.
