「Chapter 3:Dinner and A Deal」

Foxy's POV

We talked,
and talked,
and talked..
and talked some more, for what seemed like hours. Just me and her, strolling around the garden together in the mid-summer breeze, the blades of grass twirling and tumbling in the small wind beneath our feet.
I told her about the orphanage and the people here, what they were like and why they were like it. She told me of her past foster parents, though none of them deserved the name 'parents'. All of them had either given up on her or mistreated her to the point she had to leave. I felt sorry for her, it sounded like she'd had quite a hard time throughout her life, even though she hadn't even lived a quarter of it yet. Then again, none of us have and yet here we are; sitting in an orphanage, just waiting for our opportunity of freedom.
Mangle didn't seem to want to tell me of her birth parents, and I didn't press her too.
I know the feeling of being suffocated with questions, even when the last thing you want to do is answer any of them.
If anything, I know the feeling all too well. I've lost count of how many times that's happened to me.
Just countless questions,
after questions,
after questions.

There was just something about her..A part of her that seemed to understand me, in a way that nobody else did. Sure, we'd only met this afternoon but it felt like we'd known one another for years and years.
This conversation seemed like the first I'd had with someone in a long time, well, one that last over ten minutes at least. I mean, no one seemed to want to have a conversation with me. Bonnie, Freddy and Chica did of course. They'd tried anyway, involving me in their chats at breakfast, lunch, dinner or whenever we had free time, but I'd never really indulged myself in their offer.

So..Why was I suddenly enjoying one with Mangle?
What made her different?
Why did she make me feel different?

We both stopped in our tracks as the ringing of a bell coming from the building rang in our ears. I felt myself sigh at the sound of it, knowing that this meant it was sadly the end of our discussion and time for dinner inside.

Sadly.
Ugh, why sadly?
Because I actually..enjoy being around her?

But..That's not possible. I don't enjoy company with hardly anyone, let alone with people I just met. Well, it's never happened before at least..

I looked up at the sky, the lingering light was obliterated by the rapidly falling night. The once salmon and purple sky transformed into a vast expanse of jet-black that engulfed the whole garden. A canopy of luminous stars materialized amongst the ocean of blackness. Some were dull, merely flickering into existence every now and then, but there was an adequate amount of shimmering stars to illuminate the dark, moonless night.

I turned my head to see Mangle, looking up at the Sequin-silver stars like the scattered embers of a dying fire were winking down at her, illuminating all her features perfectly as they shone.
Alluringly, she would blink her eyes from time to time, allowing her eyelashes to flutter like the wings of a butterfly. My god, her eyes were simply spellbinding..I-I just can't get them out of my mind. Every time I look at them, I get completely lost in them, and find it almost impossible to find my way back out.

Her eyelids were slightly droopy while she smiled a small smile, looking back down at the tall blades of grass beneath our feet. "I guess it's time for us to go inside," She sighed, "Time sure seemed to go quickly, huh?" She laughed softly, turning to face me before tucking a small strand of her daintily flowing hair behind her ear, tugging at the corners of my lips in a way that almost made me smile.
I nodded in agreement and we began walking back down the garden.

When we re-entered the building and made our way into the dining room, I found myself and Mangle being stared at by almost the whole room. Every single person's face was turned in our direction, their eyes fixed on the both of us and blinking in astonishment from time to time. I made sure to keep my face as still as a stone, the last thing I want them knowing is that they're staring and whispers get to me. If they do find out that it bugs me, it'll only make them even more sure of themselves to avoid me. I looked down at Mangle to see her looking around the room with a small blush on her face. She gulped quietly, pulling the sleeves of her shirt to hide her hands out of shyness.
I looked back up at the room, still gawking at us like we'd just walked out of a time machine or something. Mangle was staring at the ground, wrapping her own arms around her small waist. It was clear she was getting uncomfortable from all the mumbling and murmuring floating around the dining room. I simply rolled my eyes at them all with lowered brows, reaching for her hand slowly and as gently as I could so I wouldn't startle her and began guiding her across the room to where me and my friends sat. She followed my lead and walked across the room with me, still gripping the ends of her sleeves with a light blush spread across her pale cheeks.

We took a seat at the table and the dining room seemed to finally enter reality once again, the air was filled with loud talking and laughter. I let out a sigh and glanced down at Mangle, "Sorry about that."
Mangle lifted her head up to look at me and regained her smile, "Don't worry about it." I nodded to her thankfully, finally snapping back into reality myself and realising Bonnie, Freddy and Chica were sitting across from me. They're eyes were all widened, darting back and fourth from me and Mangle like ping-ping balls, along with gaped mouths that were searching for words to add to their shock.
"Guys." I strained my voice awkwardly with raised eyebrows, nodding to Mangle slightly who was looking rather confused at their clueless expressions. Freddy was the first to snap out of it, he shook his head and his shock was replaced with a widely growing grin,
"Foxy, h-hey! I see you met Mangle?"
"Yes. A few hours ago." I replied with a smile, my eyes glancing back down at her.
"W-Well..G-Good to know that you've..Met..Her." Bonnie stuttered, his eyes looking like they were about to pop out of his skull in surprise.

Subtle.
Real subtle, Bonnie.

Mangle laughed softly at Bonnie's face along with Freddy. Chica waved her hand infront of him hoping to catch his attention.
Five plates of cooked dinner were placed infront of us, the steam of heat rising out of it. We looked up to see Mrs Fazerick standing above us with her usual sweet smile,
"Enjoy kids! Oh and Foxy," She paused, lowering herself to my level, "Good to see you being social, and getting along so well with Mangle." She whispered with a small wink which I simply replied with a nod and slight bafflement.
The others didn't hear her I'm guessing as they just shrugged and proceeded to eating.

By the time I'd finished my dinner, Chica, Bonnie and Freddy had done the same and were all discussing what they were doing in the orphanage school and normal school. I was about to join in, still feeling in a pretty good mood from earlier, when I noticed that Mangle had only eaten about a quarter of her plate. Her face looked quite put-out as she stabbed her chicken with her fork a couple times.
"You okay?" I asked with slight worry, more than I would've wanted to sound.
Her head shot up quickly to face me,
"I'm Uhh..Not really hungry." She said with a small frown, leaning her head in her palm as she rested her arm on the table with drooped eyes.
I wasn't going to ask why, maybe she isn't comfortable around other people yet, maybe she doesn't feel well, maybe she just isn't feeling hungry-
Unfortunately, Bonnie had to chime in with his frickin' blabber-mouth.
"But Mangle, you didn't eat breakfast this morning," He continued tilting his head slightly while Mangle looked at him with uneasiness, "Or Lunch, or-"
I kicked Bonnie's leg under the table as hard I could, indicating him to 'Shut the f*ck up', glaring at him. He let out an "Ow!" And looked at me with a raised eyebrow, I furrowed my eyebrows at him before looking back to Mangle who had now sat up properly.

She wrapped an arm around her stomach, one covering her mouth, blinking slightly and her face turning paler.
"Mangle-" I started, my face softening as I fixed my gaze back onto her. Before I could finish, she stood up from her chair abruptly.
"I-I uh..I need to use the bathroom." Mangle said with a shaky voice, almost running out of the room and into the hallway.
And just like that, she was gone.

I turned my head away from her direction and back to Bonnie's, he was looking rather guilty while we all glared at him with disapproval.
"Bonnie, why'd ya' have to press her like that?" I growled in a low tone, putting my balled fist on the table.
"Yeah Bonnie, you've frightened the poor girl and it's only her second day here." Chica folded her arms and shook her head, glaring at Bonnie.
He sighed, "S-Sorry guys..I-I didn't think.." Bonnie rubbed the side of his arm in embarrassment.

I took a deep breathe to calm myself down before I got into a full blown enraged argument with Bonnie for what he did,
"I'm gonna go talk to her."
Freddy and Chica shared a look, "Are you sure Foxy? She seemed pretty..Not-in-a-talking-mood." Freddy said with a frown.

I thought about it for a moment.
Sure but..What if..I just..
Ugh, God I gotta stop worrying.

I nodded to them and crossed my arms in defeat, staring at my plate.

They're right, she's probably not in a talking mood. I just can't help but wonder what's up with her..Like, what if she needs to talk to someone? What if she runs into some of those guys in the hallway that everyone hates? What if she gets lost? I mean, this damn orphanage is pretty big, anything could happen.

I couldn't take it. I stood up swiftly and began walking out if the dining room as if I was on a mission to find Mangle, swerving in and out of tables in the dining room as I did until I reached the hallway. The old wooden stairs creaked as I took each step up towards the girl's bathroom, hopefully I wouldn't get caught.
The orphanage has strict rules about the boys and girls being separated, Miss Fazerick is scared that they'll do..'stuff' together that they shouldn't be.

Checking behind me as I crept slowly towards the end of the hall where the bathroom was located, it looked looked like I was in the clear. I breathed a sigh of relief and relaxing my posture, turned my head back around casually, only to bump head first into someone standing infront of me.

Ah sh*t..

I look up before mumbling under my breathe, only to come face to face with the orphanages very own gangster; Springtrap.

"Well, if it isn't my favourite hermit in the whole orphanage." He grinned widely in amusement, folding his broad-shouldered arms in front of his chest. I simply rolled my eyes at his comment and tried manoeuvring around him to get to the end of the hall. Springtrap quickly put his sturdy arm out so it was touching the other side of the wall, stopping me from going any further. Usually I'd push past him and be on my way to go find Mangle, but Springtrap wasn't a guy you'd want to get in a fight with. He was just an inch taller than me, which was kinda intimidating because I'm tall for my age, but Springtrap just happened to be taller.
I grunted, "What'dya want Springtrap?" With an irritated tone, I glanced at the end of the hall where the bathroom was.
Springtrap shook his head slowly in sarcastic disapproval, "Question is Foxy, what do you want?"
I raised an eyebrow at him and copied his body movements by crossing my arms in front of me, feeling myself have to look up slightly at the tall-frame gangster.
"Tell me, just what're you doin' on the second floor? The girls floor to be specific," His lips curved into a sly smirk as he lowered his eyebrows along with his head, looking down at me.
I sighed, trying to calm myself down since Springtrap showed no sign of stopping his constant pissing-me-off-attitude,
"I'm looking for someone. It's important."
Springtrap raised a brow in genuine surprise and let his arms flop to his sides,
"You, Foxy, the guy who most of the kids here are afraid of, the guy who stays in his room nearly all day everyday, 'looking for someone'?"
He looked me up and down as if checking to see I was the same person that he'd described.
I nodded in response, keeping my straight expression fixed to my face.
Springtrap looked deep in thought for a few moments and paced around in a small circle in front of me, running his fingers through his long, murky-blonde hair while I watched in confusion, stealing quick concerned glances down the hall to see if Mangle had left the bathroom. I wouldn't be shocked if she had, Springtrap had stalled me like ten minutes already with this little chat of ours.
He suddenly stopped, facing away from me but then spinning briskly back round to face me with an emotionless face, "Foxy I'm gonna make you a deal."

Ah boy here we go with the 'deal'..

"I didn't see you up here..if you do a favour for me."
"What kinda favour?" I questioned, sceptical of his offer.
He chuckled softly, "I'll tell ya' when I need one. Now, we gotta deal?" Springtrap stuck his hand out for me to shake. I stared down at his hand for a couple seconds, wondering if I'm going to regret it, and reluctantly shook his hand.
He smirked, sticking his hands into his pockets and continued walking away smugly, "Pleasure doin' business with you, Foxy."
I heard him whistling to himself as he continued down the hall and disappeared around the corner.
With that I practically ran through the hallway to get to the bathroom and when I finally reached it, I found the door was unlocked and Mangle wasn't inside. I checked the other two bathrooms on the floor just in case, only to find she wasn't there either.
I kicked the wall in frustration a couple times, "Damn it!" I yelled with clenched fists.

The sound of a bell ringing downstairs indicated dinner was over, and it was time for everyone to go to their rooms.

Shit, I gotta get back to my room or Mrs Fazerick is gonna be pissed.

I sped back up to my room fast as my legs could carry me up the stairs and into my room before anyone saw where I was, slamming the door behind me and leaning on it.

Where was she?
I mean sure, Springtrap kinda delayed me but if she left the bathroom I would've seen her.

I sighed.

I dunno, maybe she went to her room or something. Hopefully she'll let me talk to her tomorrow, that's if she wants to after what happened at dinner..
