Chapter Two
(Disclaimer: I stole Ares and Kaiti, they are not my characters, I have no rights and I will only use them a bit, SO DON'T YELL AT ME.)
Lilac Johnson ran throughout the streets. Her short, raven feather colored hair swirled around her as she dashed away. Several shopkeepers yelled, as this small, scrawny girl stole their food. Suddenly, she stopped. Their before her, stood a large and imposing woman. "Q-Queen Lovelace... What an honor it is..." She hastily bowed, dropping a piece of bread. The Queen herself stood there, her eyes kind as she smiled. "Hmm.. If I remember correctly, You're Ms. Lilac Johnson. Daughter of Sir Johnson and Lady Johnson? The ones that passed away years ago?
Lilac stumbled back, her dark mud colored eyes widened in panic. "NO! You aren't taking me back to the palace!" She turned and ran, dropping everything she had held only seconds before. The cloak around her swirled and and snapped against the wind. "Child.. Please." The Queen's words drifted like a beautiful lullaby into Lilac's ears. Charmspeak. Lilac stopped, her eyes glazing over. She began to mechanically walk towards the smirking queen. "That's better. Now, we must get you to the castle. There's work to be done. Come, follow me." With that, she turned and slipped into a carriage. Lilac, unaware of doing so, followed her exact lead.
A head was peeking out of one of the more popular shops. Renea watched as her friend, Lilac, was lead away. She was violently yanked inside, landing on her butt as the door slammed shut. The old shopkeeper looked at her. "You cannot help those chosen by the Queen. You know this. Remember this in your heart, Renea, that you are just a mute, beautiful servant. That's it. You can't be anything else here. I know about your dreams. They can't exist." He gestured at the walls and room around them. "This... This should be your dream. Nothing else. You will marry Kaleb Queensway. You will stay with him. Help him run the shop. You aren't special. You aren't a demigod, or a child of a Praetor. You are nothing but a servant. And a servant you will stay. " He glared at her before going back to the front of the jewelry shop.
Little did he know about Renea's true origin...
Her eyes flashed angrily as she stood up. They flashed several colors of the rainbow. She stormed over to the shopkeeper, and slammed the close sign to the door. Everyone left as he confronted her. "That was our business! You ran them off!" He went to slap her, But Renea grabbed his wrist. Her voice cracked lowly. "You will not touch me... nor will you ever be successful in business. You will permanently shut this shop down. You will live in poverty for your actions of cruelty to the true Queen."
The shopkeeper nodded is head, his glazed eyes staring at the close Sign. She let go of him as he started packing up useless things. Her eyes widened, as she remembered. "I... I charmspoke him... Oh well... He technically deserves it. " She opened the door and exited with a 'hmmph'. "Now I have to find a place to stay. Maybe Ares will let me stay again. I do enjoy his company. You know. When he isn't being a narcissistic jerk." Renea laughed and headed towards Gods' Armory, where Ares crafted the most powerful armor and weapons.
She breezed in through the door and let an airy smile appear on her face. She watched Ares as he was crafting a complex looking sword. He placed a beautiful ruby into the hilt, and sighed in satisfaction. "Hello, Mr. Ironsmith." Renea giggled, bringing her hand to her mouth as she leaned in the doorway. Ares smirked and turned around, his eyes wandering around. He teased Renea by looking around as if she were invisible. "Huh? Who's there? I see no one! I guess I may be hearing things."
Renea laughed and smacked him lightly. "Aww c'mon. Stop being meeeeeean! Don't ignore me! Ya know ya love me!" Ares laughed and grabbed Renea by her waist, dipping her down. "Don't remind me. Geez, you're so beautifu-" He was cut off by the tinkling chimes on the door. Kaiti walked in, and froze when she saw the two. Tears pricked her eyes and she ran out, shoving the door open and storming out. Ares dropped Renea and ran after the crying girl, pleading with her.
"Kaiti! Please hear me out! It's not what you think! Please, come back!" Ares called out and finally caught up to her. He grabbed her arm and gripped it, refusing to let her go. She whirled around, angrily yanking her arm out of his grip. "Let go of me, you lying, cheating scum!" Kaiti yelled at Ares. He hissed slightly, as water sprayed him in the eyes. "I said I'm sorry! No shooting! I'm defenseless!" Kaiti glared at him, water circulating around her. "That never stops you from killing your victims, does it?"
Ares shook his head and sighed. "Enough. Why can't you forgive me?" Kaiti shook her head and stormed off. This time, Ares didn't follow her. He just walked back to his shop and held the door open. "Get OUT!" He yelled at Renea. She teared up. "Ares... I'm sorry.. Please don't cast me out..." He grabbed her arm and tossed her out. She fell onto the mud, her face getting splattered by mud. Then her face contorted into anger. "Really? You get mad at ME? I'VE been the one who looks the other way when YOU flirt with OTHER GIRLS!" She got up, looking Ares directly in his eyes. "Mark my words, la Rue. You'll regret this. You'll regret blaming me. One day, you'll run back, but I'll be in the Heavens!" She stormed away, her skirts swirling and cracking by her sudden movement.
(Renea)
