|He Asks You To Be His Girlfriend|

Steve
It was actually you who asked. He was at your bar again and the two of you were talking. It was your break, but you had decided that staying at the bar wasn't to bad if you could be talking to him. You were leaning over the bar, hands clasped in front of you. He was talking, telling one of his old war stories. The two of you were laughing about something the man, one of Steve's old friends, Dum Dum Doogan, had done. You were chuckling, but Steve could hardly finish his story he was laughing so hard. He head was thrown back with laughter, his hand on his chest as if that would somehow keep his laughter down. You were watching him, smiling. You loved the way he laughed, loved the way he talked to you, loved the way he treated you. The words left your mouth before you could stop them.

"Steve, we should make this official. I mean us official."

Steve stopped laughing, straightened himself, and stared at you for a second, mouth slightly agape. You cringed and stood up straight.

"I, uh, I'm sorry," You said. "I should get back to work-"

Steve stood and grabbed your wrist over the bar. He looked at him. He was smiling.

"I would be more than happy to make us official."

Let's just say, that was your best day at work.

Tony
Tony was not subtle at all. He was up front about what he wanted.

The two of you were walking around town. You weren't holding hands and your arms weren't linked, but you were walking close together. A man walked past and cat called you. Tony turned and glared at him, ready to fight. He was tensing up, but you put a hand on his bicep, which calmed him down enough for him to respond without hitting someone.

"That's my girlfriend you're talking to. Apologize," he said. You was shocked. Tony had never referred to you as his girlfriend before. Yes, the two of you had been on multiple dates, but never before were you 'dating'. You were so shocked, that you took a step backwards.

"What did you say to me?" The other man said. He was exceptionally taller than Tony, and much bigger. but Tony knew how to handle himself well enough.

"I said, apologize to my girlfriend."

The guy glowered. He swung at Tony. Tony ducked, but the punch was too strong, came around and hit you in the chest. With an 'oof!' you fell over on to the ground, your breath stopping short. You landed on the ground, bouncing once on your bum. You attempted to suck in deep breathes as Tony came back at the guy with punches of his own. Tony returned to you after a few seconds and helped you on to your feet.

"Are you alright?" He asked as the two of you, breathless, walked forwards, leaving the other guy on the street, struggling to find air.

"What did you mean when you said I was your girlfriend?" You asked, still shocked by the sudden revelation.

"You are my girlfriend, right?"

"I...I guess so, yeah. I am."

Thor
Thor, being the loud and boisterous kind of god he was, didn't really understand the concept of boyfriend/girlfriend. On Asgard, he would explain every time you attempted to subtly hint at it, royals like he was, never really got a chance to chose who they married. There was someone their parents always had chosen for them. There was no need for that person to also be royalty, because there didn't need to be any alliances on Asgard. Thor explained to her that he was supposed to be married to Lady Sif when he becomes king, but he also explained to you that he never wanted to become king.

"Mother says that, while Lady Sif is a wonderful woman and a great warrior, my father shouldn't chose who I am to love. She says that I should freely decide upon that myself."

While this story always hurt you in some way, deep down, knowing that if you and Thor were to get together officially, his father wouldn't approve and there wasn't really a future for your relationship if the King of the gods didn't like you, but thinking about what Queen Frigga says always made you feel a tiny bit better.

The day came when Thor was at your house and you were teaching him how to make pizza from scratch. Thor was having a little bit of trouble with the mixing machine and the oven, but once you explained everything (multiple times), Thor was rather good at it. After making four pizzas, the two of you sat together and watched a few Disney movies, which were always Thor's favourites.
You were singing all of the songs from Hercules, your personal favourite, while Thor laughed and ate his pizza. After singing 'I Won't Say I'm In Love' very dramatically, you sat back on the couch next to Thor, breathless. You picked up your pizza and began eating it again as they movie played on.

"Y/N?"

"Hmm?"

"Do Megara and Hercules become...boyfriend and girlfriend?"

"You'll have to watch, Thor."

"I don't understand why they don't just kiss or court each other. They obviously like each other."

"They're scared, Thor. Scared of being hurt again. Especially Meg. They don't want to be wrong again."

Thor was quiet for a few minutes, watching the movie intently. You had both watched this movie multiple times, why was he asking these questions now? He knew the answers to all of them. You took a bite of pizza.

"Y/N?"

"Hmm?"

"I would like you to be my girlfriend."

It took a second for those words to resound in your years and actually make sense. When they did, your eyes widened and your mouth fell open. Luckily, you had just swallowed your pizza, so there was nothing took grotesque. You set your pizza down.

"Uh...um...er..."

"Are you alright, Y/N"

"Yes." You shook your head once, trying to set your mind straight. "I mean, yeah. I could handle being your girlfriend>"

Thor's smile made you the happiest you've ever been.

Bruce
You were studying for your masters degree in anthropology. You already had your bachelors degree, and your bachelors, masters, and Ph.D in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. You thought that getting a degree in Anthropology would be fun and you didn't really have anything better to do. You worked for Bruce banner, yes, but after becoming the Hulk, he was very secluded and you weren't needed as much as you were previously. He paid you to mostly be with him now, instead of working on science things.

You were at his house, on the floor in the living room. Bruce was taking a shower upstairs, so you had let yourself in. He knew you were there, but when he came down the stairs, you were so caught up in your books, which you loved so dearly, that you didn't hear him. He watched you at the base of the stairs for a few seconds. Noticing the way you sat, poised, attentive. He observed the way you twirled you hair around your fingers of your left hand and fiddled with the corners of the pages with your right. He noticed the smile on your lips as your read. When he felt his own smile creep up his face, he decided it was time to alert you to his presence.

"You've got four books open there, must be difficult to read all of them," he said. You jumped and turned, smiling softly.

"I can manage," you said as he sat on the couch behind you. "Have a nice shower?"

He hummed. You nodded.

"That's good." You closed your books and pushed yourself on to the couch. "Was there something you wanted to talk about?"

There was something he wanted to talk to you about, something he really wanted you to know, but he didn't know how to phrase it.

"We've been going out for a few months now, and I..." he grumbled to himself for a second. You turned towards him, concern written in your features. "I just wanted to ask if we're actually together together, or if it's something random." You smiled and took one of his hands in your, your worry fading.

"Bruce Banner, you are the smartest person I know, and I've met a lot of smart people. If you wanted to ask me to be your girlfriend, a few months ago was the opportunity to do so, instead of waiting forever. I would say that, after 6 months of constant dates, that you and I are together together. Don't worry." You lay your head on his chest and sighed deeply. He kissed your head, smiling.

"I'm not worried."

Clint
"Hey, Y/N?"

"Yes, Clint?"

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"I already am, Clint."

"Oh, yeah. I forgot."

Pietro
Pietro was as cliché as you could get. He bought you flowers, took you to a fancy dinner date (it was actually just a few Subway sandwiches in a park, but it was fancy enough). He got down on one knee in front of everyone there with his hands open as if there was a box and ring in the middle. Yo couldn't stop laughing, and neither could he. Once you two had cooled down enough for him to speak, he started talking in that Sokovian accent that always made your heart melt.

"Y/N, my flower, my Tzarina. You are the light in my darkness, the moon to my sun (because I'm so hot and you're so beautiful), the eggs to my toast. You saved me from dying and I never even thanked you. I love the way you can make things explode with your mind and you've never even attempted to use it on me, even though I'm amazingly stupid and irritating. You are my sister's best friend and you were there for her when I couldn't be. For that, I am ever grateful. If you would do me the honours of making me the happiest man alive and being my girlfriend, I would be eternally in debt to you."

The entire park had stopped moving. The kids in the swings were staring, their parents behind them not pushing them. One kid fell off the slide. The adults on the other benches waited.

"Pietro, Darling, did you even have to ask?"

Sam
The football guys had been expecting it for a while. Every time you guys hit each other, every time you were on the same team, every time you guys had some sort of connection, they would roar with 'ooh's and 'ahh's. They would yell things at Sam like "Get 'er while you have the chance, bro!". It had been weeks since your second date and both of you were avoiding each other. That is, until one of you best friends, David Howler, confronted you.

"That boy's never gonna ask you out. He may be ex-military and one of the bravest men I've ever met, but he's a coward when it comes to you. You've got to man up and ask him yourself, or he's gonna slip through your fingers like the last one."

You knew he was right and you sighed in defeat.

"I'll do it, but you have to make sure none of the boys are around."

David winked and said "You got it, ma'am."

He did his job well enough. After the game, no one lingered, except Sam.

"Where'd all the boys go?" He asked you. You shrugged.

"I think they have some sort of party or something."

"And they didn't invite us?" You shrugged again. "Huh. Well, I'll see you around?"

He turned to walk away. You bit the inside of your cheek, rolling the flesh between your teeth.

"Hey, Sam?" He turned back to look at you.

"Yes, Y/N?"

"Last time I felt this way about someone, I never admitted it and I let them slip away and I never got them back. I don't want to lose another chance like that again. I don't want to be a coward and not say anything. They say you regret the things you didn't do more than the things your did, so..." You swallowed. "I want you to be my boyfriend, officially. Like you and me, dating. I get all prettied up with make-up and you take me out or we watch Netflix or walk in the park and stuff like that. Just you and me, none of boys, no football, no other people, just...us." You sucked in a breath when you finished, worried about what he would say in response.

He was standing there, grinning.

"See, I was gonna ask you the same thing. I guess you've just got more courage than I do."

"Is that a yes?"

"That's a yes, Y/N. C'mon, why don't I take you somewhere nice to eat. And you don't have to get 'prettied up', ever." You smiled and followed him to his car.

Loki
You hadn't expected it, really. I mean, it's Loki we're talking about. You were in the garden again, still your favourite spot. You were sitting on one of the benches around a rather large tree. The two of you were reading separate books, sitting rather close together. He was turning the page when he asked.

"Y/N, I am a god, and you are mortal. I believe that I should ask you to be my girlfriend," he said, not taking his eyes from the book. You snapped your head upwards, the book falling from your hands. Once it thudded against the ground, both you and Loki reached for it.

"I, uh..." You coughed into your fist, trying to clear your voice. "I believe, as a mortal, I am inclined to agree." Loki nodded and returned to his book.

"Good. That means I don't have to kill you."

You smiled and attempted to carry on reading, but the words just blurred together.

James
Being the classy, military man Rhodey was, he wanted to make you feel incredibly special on the day he asked you to be his girlfriend. He brought you on to his base and introduced you to all of his friends. They would all shake your hand and comment on how much he talked about you and that, not being a man of words, he always fell short of describing you. You were used to compliments such as these, but the fact that Rhodey talked about you made you blush.

"She was part of the Navy and now she works for the Police Department in New York City," Rhodey would boast. You would blush some more and grumble a few words.

"Oh really!" Some of the men exclaimed.

"What division?" Others asked.

"Homicide."

"Has Rhodes asked you to be his girlfriend yet?"

"If he hasn't, he's stupid, you're quiet a catch."

All the people surrounding you and talking to you confused you. It was difficult to be surrounded by people in such a way as this. Your breath hitched and you stumbled backwards.

"I...uh...I need...excuse me." He escaped the large group of people and managed to find a door that lead outside. As soon as you were outside, you attempted to suck in deep breaths of air, but it was proving rather difficult. You leaned against the stone building, gasping, spluttering. It had been happening a lot more recently. Something about a tight group of people with all their attention on you made you breathless and freaked you out too much. Rhodey was outside and beside you in seconds.

"Y/N? Are you alright?" He asked.

"I can't...," You wheezed, still trying to get air into your lungs. Tears sprung in your eyes. "Breathe."

He put a hand on your back and another on your shoulder and pulled you into a hug. Your arms were pressed between his chest and yours as the tears started to fall down from your eyes.

"I didn't know that would happen, I'm so sorry," he whispered. You cried for a few seconds, suddenly able to catch the air you needed, even through the tears.

"I didn't either," you mumbled. He held you for a few minutes, just until your tears had subsided and were able to breathe properly again. You pulled away and brushed away the stray tears on your cheeks. You smiled up at him.

"Let's go home." Rhodey put an arm around your shoulders. You nodded.

"What did your friends mean when they were wondering when you would ask me to be your girlfriend, huh?" You asked, smirking up at him as he led you off base.

"I've been meaning to ask you for a while, but I never knew just how to do it."

"This is good enough. So, yes, James Rhodes, I will be your girlfriend."

Bucky
Bucky was very reluctant to admit he liked you, in any way. He was still very weary of himself and hated to think about what would happen if he really did open up to you and if he let you in. He didn't want to hurt you. Your feelings were similar, but for different reasons as him. It went something like this.

"James?"

You and Bucky had been sparring and were currently re-hydrating. Bucky looked over at you.

"Are we...are we a couple?" You asked. Afraid of his answer, you quickly added, "I mean, we go out and we do couple-y stuff like eat and go dancing and things like that and we sit next to each other at meals and sometimes you hold my hand, but...I don't know." You looked down at your hands and began unwrapping the protectors on your hands. "Never mind, it was a stupid question."

However, Bucky intended to answer the question.

"I don't know, Y/N. Honestly, I don't know." With a dangerous flicker of hope igniting in your heart, you turned back towards him.

"We should try though, shouldn't we? I mean, hypothetically speaking, if we were to be a real couple, it would be good for us, wouldn't it? We'd be able to open up, be able to...gah, what am I talking about. I'm making up excuses. I really like you, James, and for one day n my life, I want to be a giddy teenage girl gets the guy she likes. And, I'm assuming, that you would appreciate having a girlfriend too, just like the old days," you said.

A smile smile twitched it's way up on to Bucky's lips. He breathed through his nose and nodded.

"I guess it would be nice to have a girlfriend like I had before all this happened." You beamed and stood up.

"Great! So It's settled then. Now, I still need your help. I still suck at hand-to-hand sparring." You walked back towards the sparring mat, a slight skip in your step. Bucky stood and followed you, a warm feeling in his chest that he hadn't felt in a really long time.

Vision
Vision had assumed that by going on one date, that mean you two were dating. Unluckily for him, you were slightly paranoid and were worried that he may or may not like you at all.

"Vision-"

"Y/N, you do not need to ask me again. If it would make you feel any better, I will ask you to by my girlfriend formally like any other human would do."

You bit the inside of your lip and shook your head.

"I don't know what's wrong with me. You and I aren't like any other humans. You're not any part human, and I'm only slightly human. It's stupid for me to ask you the same question I know the answer to." Vision smiled softly at you and put a hand on your shoulder.

"It is not stupid for you to be worried about someone you care about. Maybe a little irksome after the fifth time, but not stupid," he told you. You smiled at him.

"Good. Okay. I won't ask ever again. You and I are a couple. A couple of mostly metal beings with a need to protect people. Awesome, okay. Robots..."

Good(insert time of day here) my dear readers! Thank you so much to all of you who have been voting and commenting and reading and adding this story (thing). I really appreciate it more than most of you can probably understand, but as authors yourselves, you understand. I would hate to ask anything else of you, but if you could point out any errors in this chapter and in the other chapters, be them grammatical, spelling, or canonly incorrect, I would be ever grateful. I would also like to ask for suggestions.

I want to make something clear. The timelines for all of these different characters is not the same. Most of them are before they join the MCU universe. Sam, Bruce, Rhodey, Clint, and Thor are all in different periods before Avengers 1, Steve and Tony and just before Avengers one, Sam is after Avengers one, Vision and Pietro are after Avengers 2, and Bucky and Loki are somewhere in the future (After Infinity Wars?). Just thought that needed to be cleared.

Thank you so much for reading these Author's Notes (if you do), and for taking the time to read my story! I love you all deeply and truly.

All Things Considered,

Bucky J. Carter,

The Author's Bane.
