Big Time Terror

Nini sat by the pool with the boys, Guitar Dude playing to one of their songs, a small group of people surrounded them, clapping along.

"In the middle of a perfect day
I'm tripping over
Words to say
'Cause I don't want to keep you guessing
But I always end up getting
Stuck, stuck
But I'm never getting up, up...."

They trailed off as there was a loud scraping against the concrete to which they all turned to see a small table was being dragged by itself into the lobby.

"Oh, no...." Nini mumbled. One thing she didn't play around with, the dead/ghosts.

Suddenly the doors to the lobby slammed shut causing panic among everyone.

"Wait for me, I got little legs," she said, running over to Carlos, hopping on his back before he took off running.

***

The five walked into the apartment, Nini and Carlos convinced that it was a ghost doing this.

"Guys, it wasn't a ghost," Logan replied.

"Then what was it?" Carlos asked.

"Give a logical explanation why a table would be moving on its own, smarty pants," Nini replied.

"It was the air conditioner," Logan explained. "Which kicked on in the lobby, created a back draft, and caused the doors to shut."

"So how do you explain the ghost table?" James asked.

"I will tell you that later."

"Or you have no explanation for it," Nini replied.

"I'll tell you what it was. It was a ghost, and it could be after us," Carlos said, waving his hands around in a panic.

"Correction: It could be after you guys because I done nothing to piss off the dead, just the living," Nini said.

Carlos yelped at that.

"There is no ghost that is after us," Kendall spoke but as soon as he said, there was a knocking on the door, making James and Carlos scream and hide behind Logan. "Guys, chill. There is nothing terrifying behind this door."

Kendall pulled open the door, revealing Gustavo who was in his robe and pajamas. "Hey, my mansion is flooded, and I need to stay with you dogs tonight."

At that, Nini immediately clung to Kendall, screaming as did all of the boys.

***

Shortly, Nini stood by the boys and Katie who were in front of Gustavo on the couch as Mrs Knight gave him a cup of tea.

Kendall was the first to speak, "Don't you think you'd be more comfortable in, like, a five-star hotel that's not here?"

"Yeah, I can't stay at any L.A. hotels," Gustavo said.

"Why not?!" James outbursted.

Nini grabbed his arm, patting it. "Chillax, bub," she mumbled.

"Well, James, I am a member of the hotel unwelcome list along with Russell Crowe, all the members of Aerosmith, and the original host of Blue's Clues," he spoke, throwing a wet tea bag on the table. "The '90s were a wild time, boys."

Mrs. Knight picked up the tea bag. "Well, of course you are welcome to stay-"

"Mom!" Kendall spoke suddenly. "Did you see that thing in the bathroom?"

The group of five pulling her to the bathroom, mumbling the same thing.

Nini closed the door with the five and Mrs Knight in there as Kendall spoke, "Mom. You're a really nice person, and that's one of the things I love about you."

"But don't let Gustavo stay here," Carlos pleaded.

"Please," Nini pleaded. "There's only so much yelling I can take from him before I start crying."

"We get so much Gustavo during the week that the Palm Woods is where we like to take a break from him!" James outburst.

"Yeah, plus he's a man-beast," Logan whispered with wide eyes.

"One night is not going to kill you, and doing nice things for people who aren't so nice is nice," Mrs. Knight replied.

There was a sudden knock on the door. "Plus, he pays your rent!" Gustavo called out. Nini sighed, opening the door revealing Gustavo. "Now, when's dinner?"

***

After an hour, everyone at the crib sat around the dinner table as fish sticks were placed in the middle of the table, making the group and Katie cheer before stacking up their plate.

"Fish sticks? Really?" Gustavo spoke.

"It's fish stick Friday," Katie stated.

"With tots," the group of five spoke in unison.

"I actually prefer my fish poached with lemon and my potatoes au Gratin," Gustavo replied.

Mrs. Knight threw a lemon down then a slice of cheese on Gustavo's plate before smiling sweetly at him.

Nini held back her giggles as she looked at Kendall. "I aspire to grow up as your mom one day."

"You'd be a good mom like her too."

She shrugged. "Undecided about kids yet, your mom is a mood though."

Everyone looked up to see Gustavo take a bite of a fish stick, all hoping he wouldn't throw a fit.

"Not bad," Gustavo calmly said. "So what else do you dogs do on fish stick Fridays?"

Kendall raised an eyebrow. "I guess sometimes we play dome hockey."

"And then a little swirly slide action," Carlos added.

"Then we play Biohazard Blast 4: Rise of Crotchy," James added.

"And then of course, go to sleep," Nini finished.

"Oh, well, you can count me out of those festivities," Gustavo replied.

***

Later, the group of five played dome hockey. Kendall, Logan and Carlos on one team, then Gustavo, Nini and James on the other.

Nini's team won the game, Gustavo chest bumped James in victory, knocking him over making Nini yelp and rush to help James up so the same wouldn't happen to her.

Shortly, they went down the swirly slide to which Gustavo got stuck so they moved onto video games.

"Get out of my way, Los!" Nini shouted, playing with them.

"I'm out of your way!"

"I can't blast anyone if you're leaning on me, off!" She shoved him to the left, making him fall into James and then Gustavo.

Gustavo then nudged them all back. "I battle blasted all four of you. Taste the shame!"

They all sighed, tossing the game remotes onto the table.

"Yep, you sure showed us," Kendall mumbled.

Carlos looked around. "Hey, where's Logan?"

"I haven't seen him for a half hour," Nini said, looking around.

There was muffled yelling to which Gustavo stood up to see Logan indented into the couch right where Gustavo was sitting.

"Oh my god," Nini said, helping up a traumatized gasping Logan.

Logan looked at Gustavo and shuttered as Gustavo said, "My bad."

Nini pulled Logan to the kitchen. "Come on, let's get you some water or something..."

She made Logan sit down as she got him a glass of water when Mrs. Knight handed Gustavo a pillow and blanket. "Okay, guys, time for bed. And Gustavo, here is a pillow and blanket for you."

"Pillow fight!" Gustavo yelled out, hitting James with a pillow, making him fall back.

"It's too late to be a nurse," Nini mumbled, now going to check on James.

"No! No pillow fight!" Mrs. Knight yelled out, making Gustavo pout and boo like a little kid. "Off to bed."

Gustavo sat back on the couch.  "You know, if my mansion hadn't flooded, I would've been sitting alone all night writing songs. So...thanks. It was fun."

Gustavo immediately fell asleep as Mrs. Knight turned to the group. "You see? One night with Gustavo didn't kill you."

***

That was only an hour ago, now here they all were in the middle of the night as Gustavo's snore echoed out through the apartment.

The group was tired and awake, watching Gustavo sleep in annoyance.

Logan threw down his pillow. "I thought he was loud when he was awake."

"How am I suppose to get my beauty sleep?!" James yelled.

"I said sing it in the key of 'G'!" Gustavo yelled, still asleep.

"He yells in his sleep?" Kendall asked.

"That doesn't surprise me," Nini mumbled, tiredly.

Mrs. Knight came out to get a glass of water with headphones as Kendall spoke to her, "Mom, can you believe this?"

She turned and looked at him, clearly she didn't hear him. "Oh, these? Sorry, I gave my other pair to Katie," she spoke loudly, walking back to her room.

"Do it the way I say! Do it!" Gustavo yelled in his sleep.

"We have got to do something," James said to which Carlos immediately took out duct tape.

Nini nodded to Carlos. "Go."

"Not that," Kendall quickly said, giving Nini a look for the encouragement but she only pouted.

"Then you come up with idea," she replied.

"I will."

Ten minutes later-

The group of five held pillows and sleeping bags.

"Seriously?" James asked Kendall as they got off the elevator. "Sleeping in the lobby."

"You got a better idea?"

"What about the Palm Woods ghost?" Carlos asked.

Nini whined. "Why did you put that back in my head?"

"Nini, relax, there is no such thing as ghosts," Logan told her.

The power suddenly turned out and the doors slammed closed once again, making them yelp.

As they heard wood creaking, Carlos yelled, "Get the ghost!"

All five of them ran towards the noise, hitting...Mr. Bitters with their pillows.

"You're the ghost?" Carlos asked.

Mr. Bitters shushed him. "Keep your voice down. If people hear ghost, then people move out, and if people move out, there'll be no more Palm Woods."

"But there isn't a ghost. This is just a power outage," Logan replied. "There's nothing to be scared of."

Nini jumped into Kendall's arms as a vase flew off the counter and shattered onto the floor.

Their eyes slowly trailed to the furniture stacked up in the corner.

"Who did that?" Carlos mumbled.

"Not me, I'm too lazy," Nini mumbled.

The doors slammed closed again making everyone scream and run off.

Kendall was still carrying Nini as the group of five ran into the apartment but yelled as they saw the back of Gustavo who was scratching his behind.

Gustavo looked at them. "Guys, people are trying to sleep," he whispered.

"Are you serious?" Nini mumbled tiredly.

***

The next day, the group was up as soon as Gustavo was.

"And here's your suitcase," Kendall said, moving the suitcase into Gustavo's arms.

Logan pushed a paper in his hands. "Turn-by-turn directions back to your mansion."

"And a box of fish sticks for the road," James said, also pushing the box in his hands.

"Hey, what's the rush? What do you dogs do on sunny Saturdays?" Gustavo asked, confused.

Nini stood beside Carlos who held a camera. "Well, we're going ghost hunting to prove to Lo-ho-gan," Carlos spoke. "That the Palm Woods ghost is real."

Nini nodded. "I'm with him."

"And I'm going with them to prove that there are no ghosts," Logan added before looking to Gustavo. "And I'd ask you to join us, but I don't want to."

The three rushed out the door.

***

Nini fixed the camera she and Carlos had set up in the lobby.

Carlos spoke into the camera, "Now, we run the lobby cam 24/7 for evidence of ghostly activity."

Logan shoved him away, speaking into the camera. "Day one, three minutes into the investigation. Paranormal prognosis? Carlos is stupid."

Nini shoved him out of the shot. "Be nice."

Nini focused the camera on the small crowd that stomp over to Mr. Bitters with complains.

"Palm Woods is not haunted," Mr. Bitters spoke over them, making Logan nod smugly.

"Shut up, it's only day one," Nini told him.

"My daughter and I did not come here to be woken up by strange noises and slamming doors," a man spoke.

"We're having an electrical problem with the plumbing, and it will be fixed today," Mr. Bitters replied.

A girl threw her hands up. "It's a ghost."

"There is no ghost," Mr. Bitters spoke. "But I will be offering a free in-room movie for any inconvenience."

They all walked off as the girl prior smiled and waved at them, walking by.

Nini smiled as the three said in unison, "New girl. Nice."

Mr. Bitters ran up to them. "What is taking so long? We have to catch that ghost."

"Ghost hunting takes patience and poise. So don't pressure me!" Carlos exclaimed.

Nini nodded, moving in front of the camera. "It's 2:03 and so far, no ghost sightings, just possible evidence that the supernatural is involved." Logan pushed her out of the way. "Hey! Watch it, string bean!"

Logan moved in front of the camera. "It's 2:03 and there are no such thing as ghosts, and Carlos is still stupid."

Carlos pushed him out of the way this time. "And he only calls me stupid."

"Because he loves me," Nini bragged. "And he knows I'll jump him if he calls me anything."

Carlos hummed as they all moved behind the camera. "Okay. Now we just press record and look for anything unusual."

As they watched the camera, they saw a ghostly figure move through a doorway making them yelp and all run off.

***

After another night of no sleep, Logan, Carlos and Nini went back to another day of ghost hunting.

They stood in the lobby with the camera again as James and Kendall ran up to them.

"Hey, we need help getting Gustavo back to his mansion," Kendall spoke.

"Yeah, well, we need help getting rid of a ghost," Carlos replied.

Mr. Bitters rushed up to them as he spoke loudly, "There is no ghost. There is no ghost."

The new girl from yesterday walked up to him. "Yes, there is. And this place is freaking me out."

"Tell me about it," Nini mumbled.

She walked away as James and Kendall shared a look. "New girl. Nice."

Nini raised her eyebrows at Kendall.

As James and Kendall ran off, Mr. Bitters told the three. "We have to get rid of that ghost."

Carlos grinned. "Don't worry. We'll catch it..." He grabbed a green fishing net. "Tonight."

Nini raised her eyebrows. "With a fishing net?" her and Logan asked in unison.

"An ecto-net," Carlos corrected.

"Fishing net," Logan continued.

"An ecto-net."

"Fishing net."

"Ecto-net!"

Nini sighed. "I need a break, I'm gonna try and get Gustavo out of our apartment." She walked away to go upstairs.

***

Nini later stood in between Kendall and James who were approaching Gustavo who was playing video games.

"Gustavo," Kendall spoke nicely. "Hey, we know you need some new songs for the album."

"And I've been brainstorming with the boys..." Nini spoke, glancing at the two.

"So how about this one?" James asked as the three began to sing.

"Please don't stay another moment
We don't want to hear more words spoken
Walk on through the door..."
They looked to the open door.
"Oh, look. It's open!" They all shouted before going back to singing.
"And you snore in the dark
And it's freaking us out..."

Gustavo paused his game to look at them as James said, "Bad, right?"

"Terrible," Nini agreed. "See, I can't write a song with anyone else."

"You know what, you should probably go back to the mansion and write a new song," Kendall added.

"A better song for the album."

They held up his suitcase and a box of fish-sticks but Gustavo didn't look convinced. "Nah, let's go with yours." He went back to his game.

Nini sighed, "And back to ghost hunting I go." She walked out.

***

It was almost eleven at night and Nini was laying in her sleeping bag next to Carlos who was up, talking into the camera.

"Okay, it's day two, 10:53 P.M. Me, Bitters, Logan and Nini are gonna sleep in the lobby in hopes to catch the ghost," Carlos said.

Logan sat up from his sleeping bag. "There are no ghosts." Mr. Bitters farted causing Logan to nudge him in disgust. "Dude."

Mr. Bitters sat up. "Did you hear that? It was the ghost." He lied back down.

Nini and Carlos shared a disgusted look. "This will be the first and last time I sleep in the lobby," she mumbled.

Carlos looked back into the camera. "Bitters just ripped one."

He lied down next to her as she said, "Keep the fishing net close."

"Ecto-net. And I will," he replied.

She nodded. "Good." She moved close to him, still pretty creeped out by the lobby, as she nodded off.

At least until it was 12:21 am to which the back lobby doors slammed shut, making the four sit up in surprise.

"What was that?" Logan asked.

"What do you think it was?" Nini sarcastically replied before gasping in shock as their blankets were yanked away.

Nini gripped onto Carlos in terror as she looked behind her to see a ghostly figure approaching them.

They all quickly stood up, running out of the lobby.

***

Carlos, Logan and Nini quickly ran into the apartment, closing the door quickly in a panic before turning around as they saw what they thought was the ghost making the three yell, Carlos jumping in Logan's arms and Nini clinging to his back like a Koala.

Kendall and James threw the sheet down off them. "Oh, it's just us!" Logan immediately put down the two.

"And Gustavo, who's still here!" James exclaimed, motioning to Gustavo who was on the floor.

"And you snore in the dark
and it's freaking's us out," Gustavo mumbled still asleep.

Kendall stomped in frustration, making Gustavo jump, about to wake up to which the five ran out the apartment door, into the hall.

"I cannot believe we can't get rid of Gustavo," Kendall spoke.

"Yeah, well, I can't believe we can't get rid of a ghost," Logan added.

Kendall and James shared a look. "You believe in ghosts?"

"I believe in the doo-doos in my pants," Logan replied.

Nini cringed. "Gross."

Mr. Bitters ran down the hall. "Ghost!"

James sighed. "We haven't failed this bad since we lost to Duluth East in hockey 8-1."

Nini smiled. "I remember that game."

"That was the game that Kendall and I got ejected from for unsportsman like mooning," Carlos said.

Kendall nodded before stopping. "Wait a minute. That's it."

"We should moon Gustavo and the ghost?" James asked.

Nini grinned. "I smell brain."

"No," Kendall told James. "We beat Duluth East later in the finals because we were all back on the ice together."

"As a team," they said in unison.

"Right! We're gonna team moon them," Carlos said excitedly making Nini giggle.

"Almost, bub. We're gonna team up," Nini corrected as they all put their hands in the middle.

Shortly, Kendall, James, Carlos and Nini all wore vaccums on their back with safety goggles on their head.

Logan had his sleep stuff tucked under his arm as he looked them over. "Vacuum cleaners. We're gonna trap a ghost with vacuum cleaners."

"No. Ecto-vacuum cleaners," Carlos replied.

"They trap dust mites, stale odors, and ghosts," James added.

"So how come I don't get a vacuum?" Logan asked.

"Because there was only four..." Nini trailed off.

"Oh, you're the ghost bait," Kendall added.

"The non-believer had to take that spot."

Logan nodded. "Oh, right." He realized what they said and looked at them. "W-W-W-W-What?" James and Kendall dragged Logan to the lobby. "W-W-What?"

"Love you, Logey. You're super brave," Nini said following them with Carlos.

"I don't think I have a choice to not be brave."

***

It was 2:53 am and Logan was laying down alone in the lobby before sitting up. "So are we gonna be taking turns as ghost bait?" No one responded. "Guys? Guys? Okay, I'm alone and scared. I would really like some..." Logan turned to see the- "The ghost! Ghost!" Logan yelped.

The four jumped out of their hiding spots. "Stop right there! Wow, you're a really freaky ghost," Kendall said.

"Told you so!" Nini exclaimed.

"Ecto-vacuums," James called out as they turned on their vacuums. "Go!"

The ghost tried to run away as the four and Logan chased after it all around the lobby.

Finally Nini saw it. "Boys!" They all ran over to her. "Blast it!"

They aimed the hose vacuum and aimed it at the ghost.

They sucked up...a sheet as the ghosts head attached to a helmet the new girl was wearing.

"The new girl?" they all questioned in confusion.

"You were the ghost?" Logan asked.

She sighed. "And I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling, cute, hot guys."

"Wait, why would you do this?" Nini asked.

"I'm making a no-budget horror movie, and I kind of used you guys as my cast. Say hi to the cameras."

They looked up the cameras perched up on the wall.

"Are you guys mad?" she asked.

"Nah," Kendall, Carlos and James said.

"Yes!" Nini and Logan exclaimed.

"Please don't tell. It's way past my curfew, and I broke a lot of Bitter's stuff in the lobby," she pleaded.

Kendall grabbed a ghost hand, pointedly. "Sure, we won't tell. On one condition."

***

Later the five and the new girl were in the apartment, her ghost stuff set up above Gustavo's bed.

They turned on the sound effects and lighting, the group hiding behind the kitchen counter. James and Nini were holding a fan and Kendall speaking into a microphone.

"Gustavo," he spoke, waking him up and making him yelp. "Return to your mansion now! Go to your piano and write some songs, uh..." Nini nudged Kendall to keep talking. "D-Dance songs. Some dance songs."

Nini rolled her eyes, grabbing the microphone and said in the ghostly voice. "Return to your mansion now and write some songs!" she demanded.

Gustavo let out a scream, grabbing his stuff and running out the door.

"And cut," the new girl, Stephanie, called out as the lights and effects were shut off. "That's a wrap."

They cheered as Mrs. Knight and Katie came out of their rooms. "What is going on? It's 3:30 in the morning," Katie spoke up.

"Katie, let me handle this," Mrs. Knight said before yelling, "What is going on?! It's 3:30 in the morning!"

Mom, this is Stephanie King," Kendall introduced.

"She's the Palm Woods ghost," Logan and Carlos stated.

Nini nodded. "She helped us scare Gustavo back to his mansion."

"So, what happens now? Gustavo and Nini write a song, and you guys do a music video?" Katie asked.

She nodded. "Pretty much."

***

A few days later, they all sat in the pool area.

"Well, looks like everything's back to normal," Kendall said.

"Gustavo is gone," James added.

"And so is the ghost," Carlos added.

"Then we can all relax again by the Palm Woods pool," Nini added but then a table started to drag itself along the floor.

"Stephanie," Logan said immediately.

"It's not me," Stephanie replied.

Everyone besides Stephanie and Nini jumped up and ran out of the pool area.

Both girls shared a smile, walking over to Katie who was hiding behind a bush. "Man, I can't believe how much fun you can have with fishing line."

"I told you so," Stephanie replied.

Nini laughed. "Nice one."
