Big Time Blogger
Nini lied back on the Palm Woods chair, trying to get a tan when she saw Kelly dropping cameras in the boy's laps.
"Kelly, what's with the cameras?" Kendall asked.
"Gustavo wants you to shoot some videos for the future Big Time Rush website," Kelly said. "So you future fans can get to know the real you. Now, get shooting, and get the cameras back to me in the morning."
The boys began to mess with cameras causing Nini to sigh, "Don't break them."
"We won't," they all told her.
***
Logan was holding his camera, showing the Palm Woods lobby area. "This is the lobby..." He saw Nini walking by and turned the camera on her. "Oh, and this is Nini, our songwriter and one of my best friends."
"Favorite best friend," Nini corrected, sipping her smoothie. "Don't deny it."
"I'm not gonna."
She smiled sweetly, resting her chin on his shoulder causing Logan to turn the camera on them. "Logey's one of my favorite people. He's sweet, smart and so stinking adorable."
Logan smiled. "Describing yourself, I thought you were talking about me?"
She giggled. "I am," she said, pecking his cheek.
"Careful. Don't get on her bad side, she bites," Logan spoke to the camera.
"When I'm hungry, I do. On my bad side or the boy's, I'll go for the kneecaps. I'm the band's songwriter and protector."
"She's not wrong. She once beat up a girl for calling me a nerd."
"She was being mean to you. Strike first, strike hard, no mercy."
"We were only 8."
"Exactly. She learned her lesson young."
He rolled his eyes. "I love her but-"
"You love me always," she quickly said.
"I do."
Suddenly the rest of the boys came out of the elevator behind them. "Logan, we need your camera," all of them quickly said, trying to rush over and grab it.
They pushed and shoved each other. "Stop, I gotta smoothie! If I drop it, I'm gonna end you idiots!" Nini yelled but they kept shoving until Logan dropped his camera, breaking it.
***
The next day, the five strolled into Gustavo's office.
"Hey, here are your videos," James said as Nini dumped the broken cameras onto the desk.
"Enjoy," Nini told them.
As Gustavo and Kelly looked at each of the cameras, Gustavo yelled in frustration.
***
Shortly, Gustavo had them meet up in the studio area.
"Boys, our album comes out in three months, and given our recent web video disaster, it's time for phase two of my 'Get Big Time Rush on The Web' so people will know about you and buy your album in three months," Gustavo said.
"Is that phase two under the sheet?" Nini asked, pointing to the red sheet.
"Guys, get ready, because today, Big Time Rush is spending..." Kelly began, pulling off the sheet to show a presentation of a man with a laptop giving thumbs up. "A day with Deke."
"Hollywood's number one entertainment music blogger," Gustavo said.
"Number one?" Nini asked before seeing a picture of Dak Zevon ice fishing. "Oh, hey, it's my husband."
"Ouch," Kendall spoke. "Hello?"
Nini didn't look away from the picture. "Hi."
"Guys, Dak Zon was a nobody, until he spent the day ice fishing with Deke. Then he became 'The Reel Deal'."
"And today it's Big Time Rush at the famous Palm Woods pool," Gustavo told them.
The group cheered in slight excitement.
"Cool, so we just have to hang out with this guy and be the real us," Kendall said.
Both Kelly and Gustavo laughed before they answered with poised expressions. "No."
"I don't want him anywhere near the real you," Gustavo replied.
"Why not? The real them are great," Nini mumbled, nuzzling into Kendall's side.
"They'll just knock him into the pool or slice off his arm with a hockey stick."
"'Cause that's bad, right?" Carlos asked.
Kelly nodded. "Yes, because if you have a bad day with Deke, your careers could end up like Tanyon Lavell's."
"Who's Tanyon Lavell?" the five asked.
"Exactly," Gustavo and Kelly answered.
"And now, I present to you my day with Deke Big Time dog training preparation team," Gustavo said as Kelly blared out her air horn, making several people rush in.
"Change them," the marketing team said, causing the hairstylists and dressers to run at them.
Nini yelped, barely moving out of the way.
***
The five sat in the studio, the area recreated like the Palm Woods pool area with the chairs.
"Boys, we've not only re-created the Palmwoods pool setting for your day with Deke," the marketing woman said.
The marketing man grabbed a cardboard cut out of Deke. "We've also re-created Deke."
Carlos laughed. "He's so tiny."
"Los!" Nini scolded.
"Please don't say that when you see him because it is very important what he thinks of you," Gustavo added. "Got it?"
"Got it," the boys answered.
"Now, good luck with your training, my young padawans. It begins...now." Gustavo moved to walk away before stopping at Nini. "Monitor the boys."
"At the pool?" she asked.
"Now and at the pool. You need to make sure they say the right things and do the right stuff."
"I'm not their babysitter."
"Yeah, you are," he and Kelly told her, walking away with Kelly.
She sighed. "Yeah, I am."
"Boys," the woman spoke again. "We've analyzed every one of Deke's celebrity blogs and have the questions he's most likely to ask."
The man nodded. "So let's get started. Kendall, how would you describe BTR's music?"
"Oh, um, I'd say it's got some rock and-" Kendall was cut off by a red buzzer on the cutout.
"Too long," the woman said with an eye roll. "Deke wants juicy sound bites he can sink his blog into."
Say, 'Big Time Rush is a fun mix of rock, pop, with a dash of R&B,'" the man added. "Logan, if you weren't in a band, what would you be doing right now?"
Logan nodded. "Studying to be a doctor."
Another red buzz caused Nini to pout. "Why? That was an honest answer."
"Deke is gonna think he's geeky," the man answered. "Say you'd rather be snowboarding."
"Snowboarding?" Logan and Nini questioned.
"Snowboarding."
"I think that question is career-wise but okay," she mumbled, leaning back to Kendall's side who wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
Many 'wrong' answers later, Nini was covering her ears annoyed, curled up on the couch.
"Violence," Carlos said.
Red buzzer.
"Carlos, violence is never the answer. The correct answer is seven," the man told him.
The woman looked at her notes. "Okay, according to those answers, we predict Deke will think you're slightly more advanced than cavemen who like corn dogs."
James yelped, standing up. "We can do better."
Logan stood up. "Hey, we are way more developed than cavemen, Cromagnon even."
"And we like hot dogs too," Carlos added.
"And food in general," Nini added.
Kendall stood up. "We're just five hockey players who love singing, and we can't wait for people to hear our first album."
A green ding.
"Congratulations," the woman spoke. "Deke now thinks Big Time Rush is four dedicated, smart, and fun-loving guys who share a passion for music."
"And he's looking forward to your album," the man added.
The group of five cheered.
***
A little while later, a different man stood in front of them.
"Say hello to body language expert to the stars, Mr. Fong," the marketing man said.
Mr. Fong bowed to them as Nini said, "This should be interesting."
"What's with the biscuits?" Kendall asked, pointing to the basket of biscuits beside the man to which Mr. Fong picked up a biscuit, quickly throwing it at him.
"No pointing!" Mr. Fong yelled. "Deke will think you are accusing. Offer a gentle smile instead."
Kendall did so as James took out his lucky comb to which Mr. Fong threw a biscuit at him. "Ow," James said.
"Deke thinks you are shallow and only care about appearances."
"Uh, is that bad?"
Multiple biscuits were thrown at him as Logan and Carlos crossed their arms for protection from the biscuits. "Never cross your arms! Deke will think you are closed to him. You want to be open."
The boys leaned back on the couch, limbs spread out widely causing Nini to chuckle. "You guys look like a bunch of tensed-up starfishes." She picked up a biscuit. "These are soft biscuits, you sissies."
Mr. Fong nodded to the boys. "Better." The boys slouched, letting out sighs of relief. "No slouching!" More biscuits were thrown at them. "Show me. Deke thinks you are...engaged."
The boys posed interested expressions causing Nini to giggle and pull out her phone, taking pictures of them. "I'm so developing these."
"I want copies, Nini," James said through his smile.
She gave him a thumbs-up as Mr. Mong said, "He thinks you are...cool." The boys posed again to which Nini took another picture. "Eclectic!"
This pose made her giggle because Kendall was meditating, Logan was 'reading', Carlos was on his head and James was stretching.
"Smoking hot!"
She giggled again, snapping a picture of Kendall resting back against the couch, Logan flexing his bicep, Carlos smoldering, and James kicking back with his feet up on the table. "This is my favorite one," she said, sitting down beside Carlos, poking his cheek.
"Now you are ready for your day with Deke," Mr. Fong said with a bow causing the boys to cheer but yell in fear as he picked up a biscuit. "What? Fong is hungry."
"Boys, this is a test you cannot fail," the marketing man said although Carlos wasn't paying much attention as he kept pushing Nini's hand away, poking her side repeatedly making her giggle.
"You need to make this a day Deke will never forget," the marketing woman added.
"What he thinks is what is," Mr. Fong added.
"And remember," Gustavo spoke. "Our album comes out in three months, and the web is a powerful tool that can take BTR right to the top, and Deke is a powerful man."
***
Later, the five sat at the Palm Woods pool, for real this time, the real Deke across from them, a laptop in his lap. Nini was worried since he did not look easy to please at all.
"So you guys are Big Time Rush," Deke mumbled, looking them over.
Carlos laughed. "You're so tiny."
Nini nudged him to stop as Deke was immediately typing already.
The boys quickly spread their limbs, mumbling answers simultaneously.
"So how would you describe BTR's music?" Deke asked.
Big Time Rush is a fun mix of rock, pop, with a dash of R&B," Kendall answered with a small smirk that made Nini hide a smile, she couldn't help it.
"What would you be doing if you weren't in a pop band?" Deke asked.
"Um..." Logan hopped up on the couch. "Snowboardin'. It's kind of my thing." The boys cheered in agreement as Logan sat back down. "You know, halfpipe."
Deke typed quickly. "And who are you?" he asked James.
James chuckled. "Me?" He kicked his feet up with his arms behind his head. "I'm James."
Deke continued to type even more with a smile which Nini was worried about even more. She already hated that the boys weren't acting like themselves and was anxious if Deke saw through that.
After about five minutes, Deke stopped typing and said, "Okay, done."
"Wait, what? That's it?" she asked him.
"'Big Time Rush is just another band force-fed upon us by the music industry. From the blogger that only writes the truth, it's clear they are full of rehearsed sound bites, choreographed body language, and no real substance'." James yelped, offended as Deke continued reading, "'I suspect their words, hair, wardrobe, and singing is done for them. Don't buy their album.' Bye." He closed his laptop, walking away.
The group immediately jumped up as Nini sighed. "Well, clearly Gustavo's an idiot because training didn't work."
Kendall nodded. "It's time for plan B, as in be ourselves."
They all rushed to the lobby after Deke, cutting him off from leaving.
"We're sorry," Kendall spoke. "That wasn't us out there."
"Just give us a second chance," James pleaded.
"And you can't leave yet. It's a day with Deke'," Logan added.
"Yeah, not 'five minutes with deke'," Carlos added.
"They're really great guys. Just let them answer honestly," Nini added as well.
Deke rolled his eyes. "My blog seeks the truth, and the truth here is, you're nothing but overdressed corporate potbots." James and Nini yelped in offense, Kendall wrapping his arms around Nini who looked ready to attack. "Now, I am going back to the coffee shop to proof this and then post it to my blog and tell everyone that Big Time Rush is a big waste of time."
James reacted quickly, shoving Deke into the supply closet quickly, locking the door.
"What was that?!" the group asked.
"Plan C?" James replied.
Nini face palmed herself with a groan. "To what? Lock him in a closet and make him think about what he's done?" She looked at Logan and Carlos. "Go find the Palm Woods wifi and disconnect it."
The boys nodded, rushing off.
Nini looked at James. "If we go to jail because of this-"
"We won't," Kendall told her.
"You guys won't make it in jail. You're all too pretty."
"What about you?" James asked.
"I'll survive. I know how to make a shiv."
Both boys looked at her. "Do we even wanna know?"
"...Probably not, no."
Carlos and Logan came back over, many wires wrapped around them.
"Okay, we disconnected the Palm Woods WiFi so Deke can't post his blog from here," Logan told her.
"Darn it!" Deke exclaimed in the closet, hearing him.
"We also disconnected the cable TV, telephone, air conditioning, and all the garden hoses...Just in case," Carlos added.
Nini laughed. "Good job, boys." Deke pounded at the door causing her to sing, "Keep on knockin' but you can't come in."
"You can't stop the truth," Deke said.
"It's not even the truth!"
"Look, if you just agree to spend the rest of the day with us like you promised..." Kendall spoke.
"And let us prove we're not phonies..." James added.
"We'll let you out," Nini, Logan, and Carlos added.
"Okay. I will," Deke agreed.
Kendall unlocked the door, pushing it open to which Deke smiled until he tried to run past the group to which they all pushed him back inside.
"You'll stay in here until you learn not to lie!" Nini said, slamming the door shut and locking it.
"As soon as I get Internet access, you guys are big-time finished!" Deke yelled.
"Well, let's look on the bright side. This is definitely a day Deke will never forget," Kendall told them.
Nini shrugged, resting her head against Kendall's chest who wrapped his arms around her. "Guess that's true."
A little while later, Nini was still in Kendall's arms as he spoke, "Look, we just want a chance to change the way you think about us."
"Fine, I'll interview you through the door," Deke agreed.
The group cheered slightly as Kendall tried to move to look at the door which Nini was still holding onto him. He moved her to his side more as Deke spoke, "What made you decide to come to L.A.?"
"Um, well, we didn't really plan on this, but when amazing opportunities come, you have to-"
Kendall was cut off by him. "Could someone elaborate on that?"
"Sure," James agreed. "Well, it was my dream to be a pop star, but my buds helped me get to the audition-"
"Where do you see yourself in 20 ye..." Deke's voice slowly died out.
"Oh, no! His battery died!" Logan said.
"Wait, what?" Nini questioned, rushing to the door, unlocking it. "He's gone!" She looked up to see a ladder leading up to the vents.
"He's in the ducts!" James and Nini exclaimed.
"We gotta find him. Go, go, go!" Nini quickly said, all of them running off. "I hear him!"
They rushed over as Deke said, "All I have to do is find a hardwired computer, and expose the big time truth."
Deke looked down at them causing James to say, "Yeah, well, the truth is, we do so sing. Observe."
The boys vocalized all together causing Deke to shrug, "Not bad, but I will destroy you." He crawled away causing the boys to quickly follow.
"I feel so spiny, and, man, it's hot in here," Deke complained.
"Do you want some water?" the group of five asked.
He looked at them. "Do you have sparkling?"
"One second," Nini said as Carlos rushed into the staff lounge. "He's coming."
Carlos came out with a bottle of sparkling water. "Hey, catch."
He tossed it up to Deke in the vents. "Thanks." He took a sip before saying, "Later, losers. He crawled away.
Nini gaped, following him. "Can't we believe we did something nice for you!"
They followed him to the outside vent where he went down, falling roughly.
Nini groaned. "Logey, what are we looking at here?"
"False imprisonment, involuntary manhunting. I would say at least 100 hours' community service," Logan answered.
The metal ducts began to clang again causing Carlos to say, "Is he going back up?"
Another clang. "And he went back down again..." She immediately moved after the boys as Deke crawled away.
"Which way did he slide?" Carlos asked.
"I don't know," Logan panicked.
"We can't lose him. He thinks we're big time phonies," James said.
Nini followed the noise and knew. "I know where. Let's go!" She rushed into the Palm Woods computer lab, immediately hearing Deke's voice as he moved the vent aside.
She and James quickly grabbed the large recycling bin from the corner of the room, opening it and moving it to the edge of the vent.
"Now I land in the chair, plug in, and bye-bye, big time phonies," Deke said, dropping from the vent.
Nini kicked the computer chair out of the way, tilting the bin so he fell inside, the boys quickly closing it and locking the latch.
"Darn it!" Deke exclaimed.
***
Later, the group sat in the Palm Woods pool area, Deke still in the recycling bin.
"Life's funny, you know?" Carlos spoke. "One day you're hockey players. Then you're a pop band."
"Then blognappers," Nini added with a tired sigh.
"Why does he think we're phonies, hmm? He should like us," James snapped.
"Why would he like us?" Kendall asked, standing up. "Because I've got to be honest: I don't like us right now. Worse than that, since when did we start caring about what people think about us? It's what we think about ourselves that matters."
"I think we might have let the marketers put words in our mouths," Carlos said, standing up.
"I think Mr. Fong's biscuits may have caused temporary insanity," Logan added.
"That explains a lot, I had a few biscuits," Nini agreed.
"Finally a true statement," Deke said but he was ignored.
"And do you guys realize we never even questioned these outfits?" Kendall asked.
"I think...we look good," James replied.
"It's a little overdone," Deke said.
"Quiet, you."
"We are not five hockey players from Minnesota anymore," Kendall said. "We are five Anakins who went to the dark side."
He slapped the bin's lid in frustration, earning a groan from Deke. "Ow!"
"So what do we do?" the other four asked.
***
Logan and James rolled the bin out of the Palm Woods, Nini undoing the latch, pulling the lid open, making Deke pop his head out. "You're letting me go?"
They all helped him out as Kendall said, "The truth is, with our album coming out soon, there's a lot of pressure, and it kind of got to us."
"We hope you can forgive us," James said.
"And we hope you don't press charges," Nini and Logan added.
"Wow, you've really given me something to think about..." Deke said. "Right after I post my blog about how I was locked in a closet, tackled, chased through ducts, and trapped in a garbage can. Bye."
Nini huffed. "Wish that temporary insanity wore off, could've chased him down..."
Kendall pulled her into his side as James said, "Hey, you never know. Maybe he'll get hit by a bus on the way to his coffee shop."
Just then, Deke barely missed, getting hit by a bus.
They all groaned. "Ohhh, so close!"
***
The group walked into Rocque Records which was trashed with Gustavo hate posters and...Belgian waffles.
"Well, looks like Gustavo had a good day too," Kendall remarked.
Gustavo and Kelly stepped out of the office. "Boys, I have a feeling your album's not gonna sell very well in Belgium," he told the group.
The group made a face. "Yeah, about the album..."
Gustavo and Kelly realized suddenly- "Your day with Deke!"
"Gustavo, before you read the blog..." Nini began as they rushed back into the office, pulling the blog up on Gustavo's computer.
She was immediately shushed as Gustavo read, "The Big Time Truth: 'After lies about snowboarding, corporate written sound bites, and being locked in a supply closet, I knew within my first five minutes that Big Time Rush were big time phonies'." Gustavo looked up in realization. "You locked him in a supply closet?!"
"Yep," they mumbled.
Gustavo got up quickly but Kelly grabbed him. "'But, hey!'" she continued reading. "'The rest of my day was literally...A Big Time Rush."
The group all rushed around the computer. "'And not just because of 20-foot high heating duct slides, garbage can rides...'" Nini read off.
"'And sparkling water delivered upon request...'" Logan read off.
"'But in discovering that Big Time Rush are four dedicated, smart, and fun-loving guys who share a passion for music and life'," Carlos read off.
"'My day with Big Time Rush is one I'll never forget',' James read.
"'And I'm looking forward to hearing their new album',' Kendall finished.
Immediately everyone in the office cheered.
Kendall swooped Nini up into his arms who giggled. "Gotta stop doing that."
"Never, it's too much fun," he replied.
She laughed, glancing back at the boys who were jumping excitedly with Kelly before pecking his lips gently as she was set down.
"Okay, okay," Gustavo spoke. "Now that my dogs have crushed phase two of our big time web attack, let's go back to phase one and make some web videos for the Big Time Rush website."
"And this time, try not to break the cameras," Kelly said, handing the camera to Kendall.
"Got it," the group said.
***
Kendall recorded the entire group of five who were all in the air ducts. "Hey, what's up, guys? Big Time Rush here."
"Yeah, and this is what it's like sliding down the Palm Woods air duct," Carlos added.
"Check it," James said as Nini moved at the edge of the heating duct before all started sliding down, Kendall dropping the camera in the process, breaking it.

Hi!
It's been a while, sorry its been so long. I've just been trying to publish and update some stuff because ngl I lost interest in writing this for a while.
Idk why its the stuff you lose interest in get the most reads I- I don't even know
Anyway I was stuck on an episode and how I'd fit Nini so I just skipped it. I liked this one cuz I could literally go on and on with her friendship with the boys.
Anyway, hope you liked the chapter. Thanks for reading!
