Two weeks later
Smriti's POV.
I didn't know if I had to laugh, be annoyed or be confused with all of these people.
Kash, Anu and Ishan already knew that this wouldn't be going to have an outcome. I told Shreyas bhaiya and Jess bhabhi that I was going to say no.
Kash and Anu were with me, while Ishan, Shreyas bhaiya and Jess were outside in the hall with my relatives and parents. I wanted Jess to be with me too, but my aunt (Shreyas' mother) thought it would be better if she stayed with rest of the family.
The house was way too crowded for a first meet with a guy who god knows I might never even meet for the rest of my life.
(Smriti's outfit)
"How do you feel?", my mom asks me as she adjusts my saree.
"Uh, totally okay.", I tell her in a weirded tone. It was just meeting my dad's family friend who I might know, what's there to be afraid about that.
"You can say no, if you want to okay? Don't stress out too much.", my dad (step-dad) said, "We just thought you wouldn't mind seeing this guy, you know him well. This could have more chances than th le previous guy you met."
I raise my eyebrow in mild confusion, I didn't know any one his friends' son that well.
"The boy and his family will be here in five minutes, we'll take to them and call you in a while okay?", my mom instructs me and I nod my head in understanding.
"My mom really is really over thinking about this. I mean, I'm just twenty four years old. I have quite a few years of time.", I rant.
"She's probably just worried and cautious for you, you know.", Anushka tells.
"Yeah I mean, considering everything she's going through.", Kashish explains
I sigh and nod my head in agreement. My mom had clearly been through a lot, which is why I wasn't in a hurry to get married.
I just wanted to do what I love and take my own time. Things would come across at the right time. I'd been in a hurry once before and it wasn't the right time so it created a HUGE MESS.
Jess enters the room, her face with a mildly confused expression which she was trying to hide. "Chalo it's time, bahar aao.", she tells me.
I leave the room with Kash and Anu. Before I enter the hall, I see Ishan and Shreyas bhaiya with an expression of mild fear.
I couldn't even see who the guy was, a major part of the hall was covered by a wall and the other visible part was adjoined with the dining table, and that's where they were standing.
I turn back to look at Anu and Kash who also look confused like me.
What was going on?
We reach the hall and I halt in steps with shock, but try to cover it with a small smile on my face.
Why in the world did my parents decide to do THIS?
I mean, it's not like they know about it, but still what the hell.
I though they would go with a orthodox way, finding a guy from the same place as us like they did the previous time.
The guy who my parents thought I knew well, was Shubman Singh Gill.
What a great day.
I go and sit beside my parents with a smile plastered on my face while I was swearing using all sorts of words in my head.
I couldn't help but be slightly angry with my parents. Yes, they did not know about me and Shubman dating and breaking up since we hid our relationship from both of our families, except for Shahneel di of course. But still, if Shubman was still my close friend, like before we started dating, this would've been awkward.
I mean, it already it was awkward now anyways, but still.
"Kaise ho beta?", his mom, Keart aunty asks me.
"Bilkul theek aunty, aap sab kaise ho?", I reply with a smile. She was always really sweet to me, whenever we met.
"Hum theek hai beta, itne time se humare ghar kyu nahi aayi?", Lakwinder uncle asks me.
"Sorry, bas padhai aur kaam ke wajah se busy ho gayi.", I tell him awkwardly with a small giggle. Shahneel di and I share a smile as she gives me a sorry look. I give her a reassuring look saying it's totally okay.
"Aap log todha chai piyoge? ", Jess offers them and they accept it.
I decided to break the ice and look at Shubman, who definitely looked quite awkward and worried, he didn't want to be here as much as I did.
He probably had zero clue that he was going to meet me.
I was confused though, Shubman was also somebody who wanted to guy married to somebody he fell in love with. What made him change his mind?
Nevermind.
"Tum log baat karna chahte ho?", my mother asks us and we slightly nod our heads.
We leave and go to the balcony. It was a couple of minutes filled with awkward silence. He finally breaks it by blurting, "I'm sorry."
"Kis keliye?", I ask him with an eyebrow raised.
"Agar pata chalta ki my parents were talking about meeting you for marriage, I wouldn't have come if I knew it was you.", he tells and I frown.
"Genuinely asking though, am I that terrible?", I ask him, hurt about his comment.
"No no I didn't mean it that way.", he denied, "I highly doubt you'd want to be with me, after everything I've done."
"That is something I've never understand though", I sigh, "why you did what you did."
"I don't know why I did that either, I'm sorry about it though.", he apologises, "Shouldn't have done that."
He actually feels bad about that? Well, that's a pleasant surprise.
"It's alright I guess. I mean, it was just unexpected because everything was quite smooth between us.", I tell him.
"It definitely was.", he agrees, "should we give it another shot?".
"Umm.....", I mused.
Look here's the thing, I was insanely in love with this guy when we dated and I thought every thing between us was quite good. But he made everything turn to dust in a day, literally everything.
And it was so hard for me to get over that. It hurt and brought it so many insecurities that I still haven't managed to end.
Could I trust him with a second chance?

Author's note:
I hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I did writing it! Well, considering I'm super lame and can't make things funny, I hoped you found the first half as funny as I did.
Well... at least I tried bringing in a little bit of humour hehe.
Let's see how things take a turn, hopefully soon👀
Lot's of love
