CHAPTER 34

Alexis

"It's too tight," Ellie tugs at the hem of her dress, whining about it. Again.

"No it's not, you look great."

"You should've driven," Ellie glances at me annoyingly, "I don't feel comfortable with a tight dress on."

"Yeah I should've," I say, "And then I would've rammed the car against a tree and gone straight for our deaths."

"I mean, you're not that bad."

"Very convincing, you." I say, dryly.

"It's just..." Ellie chews on her lips and I hit her arm playfully.

"Stop doing that. You'll ruin the lip gloss."

She rolls her eyes, "That is why I put on lip gloss and not lipstick."

"So you can chew your lips? You sure have your priorities in check," I mutter.

Ellie gives me a hearty laugh, momentarily forgetting about her dress. Momentarily.

"It's too tight for me."

"It fits you perfectly."

"Of course it does, it's my size."

"Then how is it too tight?"

"Lex! You know what I mean!" Ellie says, exasperated.

I smack her back of the head, "I think you mean you're too hot to handle in this dress."

Ellie and I went shopping yesterday for the Boy Toy draft. So choir girl dresses, and modest pleated skirts which Ellie usually wears were out of the question. If you're going to watch athletic boys strut around naked, you might as well go oompa loompa out of your comfort zone in clothes as well.

I picked out her dress and she picked out mine. Her dress is a black off-shoulder, bodycon which is doing to her body which will make Logan probably do stuff to her, in bed. It has a white lace shroud attached to the neckline, which reaches down to her waist, covering her arms in white lace. She looks like a Goddess in it but of course she can't see it.

"You're just uncomfortable in it because you know how good you look in it," I check my reflection in the rear view mirror and satisfied with what I see, I continue, "This dress is not one of those pleated curtains you wear and you look like you could turn me into a lesbian."

"We'll get back to it, but first things first, can I turn you though?" Ellie chuckles.

"Figurative El! I don't think it's possible but no, I like to kiss green eyed men."

"Just one green eyed man, to be specific."

I give her a shaky smile and she laughs, revving up the engine. I latch onto the panic bar in fear, speed has never been my thrill, I just like to dress up like danger, not be in one.

"It's too much of a skinny girl dress," Ellie pouts.

"Every dress is a skinny girl dress if you don't stress on the labels enough," I grit through my teeth as Ellie curves down a lane, barely missing a streetlight.

"I see Logan's rubbing off on you."

"Huh?" Ellie looks at me questioningly.

"Drive slow. You'll kill us."

"Oh," She laughs sheepishly, "Sorry, I've been getting more confident on the streets, practising with him."

"Hopefully not confident enough to crash the car."

"C'mon it's not that fast,"

"Well," I point out, "You're dating the stereotypical badboy, not me, so I still have a life to fear for on the road."

"Hold on Lexie, We're getting late."

"It'll be fine if you reach late, not, if we take a trip to the hospital though."

"Oh shut up and close your eyes!"

"So I cant even see my last few minutes on this planet?" I ask, "No thanks."

"Fine I'll distract you. What's going on with Aaron?"

Oh distract me she did. Right now the speed seems like a good option, the faster we get there, the faster I am out of her questioning clutches. I do not want to talk about Aaron to her. I barely want to talk about him to the inner voice inn my head which constantly asks me to 'put a label on it' in a weird cursive laced Australian accent.

"He asked me out on a date," I mumble. Please God, please don't let her hear it.

"He asked you out?! When are you going?"

If there is a God above us, and if I am going to heaven, I'll make him pay for it. (Or her, according to Ariana.)

"I said no."

"Bitch are you crazy?" Ellie looks at me, baffled, "Why?"

"Because it was moving too fast."

"The truth Lex."

When Ellie uses her concerned friend voice, it's time for me to buckle up my shoes and go to the nearest cliff and jump. That particular tone is a magnet, leeching out the truth from me. It honestly landed me in situations I'd rather not think about.

"He's a playboy."

"So?"

"So he might be playing with me, he might just get bored and I do not want to be aother crossed out name on his list." There, I said it.

"Lex, why would you think that?" Ellie asks concerningly.

"I don't know..." I rub my arms together, "It's just that he's a charmer, and he could flip on me any second."

"Honey he's far too gone to flip on you now."

I squint my eyes at her, "What do you mean?"

"You don't see the way he looks at you but we do. He likes you too much to let you go."

"He's a player, old habits die hard." I point out.

"Lex," Ellie shakes her head, "Stop pondering over his past. You like him, he likes you so go on that freaking date."

I bite my lip, wondering. Aaron is a player, there's no denying that, but he also has been very...monogamous with me. Ever since the fake dating started, I don't think he's hooked up with anyone. I'll need to ask Logan about it. I know I shouldn't be crossed about it, what with the dating being fake and all. But I am insecure and petty sue me.

I roll my shoulders and sit straight, telling Ellie what she wanted to hear, "I guess one date wont hurt."

Ellie snorts, "Relax. I think every girl after you will be too bland for him, what with your spitfire personality."

"Shut up, I am not a spitfire."

Ellie raises one eyebrow at me and I give in, "Fine, maybe just a little."

"But seriously though, you getting insecure about a guy is monumental. Some going down in history shit."

"Shut up," I smack her shoulders playfully but it does nothing to untie the knot in my chest.

"Lex I am serious," Her voice is calm and low, "You've nothing to worry about. I have seen the way he looks at you and...it's more earnest? I guess yeah, it's more earnest."

"He looks at me the same way he looks at a Cheese sandwich," I roll my eyes at her.

I found out about his obsession with cheese sandwich a few days back and it was disturbing, to say the least. He goes through those like a five year old goes through gummy bears or skittles. How he maintains to look like a snack himself after gobbling them up like frinking water is beyond me.

"Girlie, I don't think he loves you as much as he loves cheese sandwich," Ellie chuckles beside me, narrowly swerving another car.

I snort, "I doubt he loves me at all."

"Oh that's the only ulterior motive you should be excited about."

The chances of that happening are less. Like, I am talking Ian Somerhalder dropping from the sky right now less. Like Zac Efron asking for my hand in marriage less. Like there are greater chances of me shaving off my whole head than that happening. Things like that don't happen in real lives. This is the kind of fantasy shit you make up when you finger yourself and need a dreamland to think of starring a hot guy who has green eyes like glowing emeralds under the sun.

"Well, Let's see how he keeps himself straight with you looking like that. We're here." Ellie winks.

Throwing a smirk over my shoulder at Ellie, I step out of the car.
