Chapter 51
Seokjin stirred awake, his body aching and sore. He groaned as he tried to sit up, but his muscles protested. He winced as he touched his throbbing head, a sharp pain reminding him of the events that had led him to this state.
Despite his physical discomfort, Seokjin couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. He was no longer in the clutches of his ex-husband, Jungkook. The thought of Jungkook sent a shiver down his spine, and he was grateful for the distance that separated them.
Seokjin knew that, he wasn't safe yet. Jungkook was a dangerous man, and he wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted. But for now, Seokjin could allow himself a moment of peace, knowing that he was free from Jungkook's immediate threat.
As Seokjin lay there, he closed his eyes and tried to focus on his breathing. He needed to heal, both physically and emotionally. It would be a long road to recovery, but Seokjin was determined to get there. He would not let Jungkook break him.
Seokjin's eyes fell upon Jungkook's discarded phone, lying carelessly on the nightstand. Hesitation tugged at his heart, but the overwhelming urge to escape propelled him towards it. He gingerly picked up the phone, the familiar weight sending a jolt of conflicting emotions through him.
With trembling fingers, he unlocked the phone, the screen illuminating the room with a soft glow. His gaze immediately fell upon the wallpaper, a stark contrast to the darkness that surrounded him. It was a picture of him and Jungkook, taken on their wedding day, their faces beaming with happiness and hope.
A wave of nostalgia washed over Seokjin, a bittersweet reminder of a love that had once been so strong, so vibrant. But the image also served as a stark reminder of the betrayal, the lies, and the manipulation that had shattered their bond.
His heart ached with a mixture of grief and anger, the pain almost unbearable. He clenched his fists tightly, the phone digging into his palms, a physical manifestation of the turmoil within him.
The sight of their wedding picture, a symbol of their once-shared dreams, now felt like a cruel mockery, a haunting reminder of what he had lost. But amidst the sorrow and anger, a flicker of defiance ignited within him.
He would not let Jungkook break him. He would not let his ex-husband's actions define his future. With a surge of determination, Seokjin pocketed the phone, its familiar weight a source of unexpected strength. He scanned the room, his eyes searching for any possible escape route.
Seokjin's heart pounded in his chest as he clutched Jungkook's phone, his fingers trembling as he dialed Hoseok's number. He knew he had to act quickly, before Jungkook returned.
The phone rang several times before Hoseok answered, his voice laced with worry.
"Hello, who is this?"
"Hoseok, it's me!!"
"Seokjin? Is everything okay? Where are you?"
Seokjin swallowed hard, trying to control the panic that threatened to consume him. "Hoseok, I need your help. I'm trapped."
Hoseok's voice shot up an octave in alarm. "Trapped? Where are you? What happened?"
Seokjin briefly explained his situation, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm at Jungkook's place. I don't know how I got here, but I woke up tied up. I need you to get me out of here."
Hoseok's mind raced, trying to process the information. "Okay, okay, calm down. I'm going to come right there but―"
"I don't know how much time I have," Seokjin said urgently. "Jungkook could be back any minute."
Hoseok's voice trembled with determination as he assured Seokjin, "Don't worry, Seokjin. We'll find a way to get you out of there."
Seokjin's heart swelled with gratitude for his friend's unwavering support. Despite not knowing Seokjin's exact location, Hoseok's words provided a beacon of hope amidst the darkness.
Suddenly, Jung-eon's voice cut through the conversation, "Appa!"
Hoseok turned to see Jung-eon standing in the doorway, his eyes wide with fear and determination. Without hesitation, Jung-eon snatched the phone from Hoseok's grasp.
Jung-eon's voice echoed in Seokjin's ears, a desperate plea for reassurance amidst the chaos that surrounded him. "Appa, where are you?" Jung-eon's voice was laced with worry, his words piercing through Seokjin's heart.
Seokjin's heart clenched with guilt. He couldn't bear to tell his son the truth, to burden him with the knowledge of his precarious situation. Instead, he forced a smile, trying to mask the fear that gnawed at him.
"I'm fine, baby," Seokjin lied, his voice trembling slightly. "I'm just at a friend's place."
Jung-eon's eyes narrowed, his youthful intuition sensing his father's deception. "Appa, please come back?"
Seokjin's heart pounded in his chest, his resolve wavering. He didn't want to worry his son, but he knew that he couldn't keep him in the dark forever.
"Yes, my baby," Seokjin admitted, his voice heavy with regret. "I'm in a bit of trouble, but I promise I'm going to be okay."
Seokjin felt a sudden chill run down his spine. He had been so engrossed in his conversation with Jung-eon that he hadn't noticed the doorknob turning. Slowly, he turned his head, his heart pounding in his chest.
There, standing in the doorway, was Jungkook. His eyes were cold and calculating, his lips curled into a cruel smirk.
Seokjin's blood ran cold. He knew that he was in grave danger.
Jungkook lunged forward, snatching the phone from Seokjin's grasp. He hurled it against the wall, the screen shattering into a million pieces.
Seokjin remained silent, his eyes locked on Jungkook's with a mixture of fear and defiance.
"Don't think you can play me for a fool, Seokjin," Jungkook hissed, advancing on him. "I know everything you're up to."
Seokjin's heart pounded in his chest, his fear reaching its peak. He knew that Jungkook was capable of anything, and the fear that gripped him was almost overwhelming. But he refused to let Jungkook break him. He would not succumb to Jungkook's manipulation.
Jungkook's eyes narrowed as he watched Seokjin clutch the phone to his chest, his face flushed with emotion. He could hear the faint murmur of a voice on the other end, and a wave of jealousy washed over him.
"Who are you talking to?" Jungkook demanded, his voice laced with accusation.
Seokjin's heart pounded in his chest, his mind racing to find an explanation. He knew that Jungkook was possessive and controlling, and he didn't want to provoke his anger.
"It's―," before Seokjin spoke. Jungkook's eyes flashed with anger.
"Who are you calling 'baby'?!"
Seokjin froze, his heart sinking. He had forgotten to change the nickname in phone, and the affectionate term had slipped out during his conversation with Hoseok.
Jungkook's mind is filled with dark thoughts. He imagined Seokjin carrying on a secret affair, betraying him with another man. His jealousy intensified, fueling his rage.
"You're cheating on me, aren't you?!" Jungkook snarled, his voice trembling with fury.
Seokjin's eyes widened in shock. He couldn't believe that Jungkook would accuse him of something like that.
"No, Jungkook!" Seokjin cried, his voice filled with desperation. "I would never do that to you."
But Jungkook was too consumed by his jealousy to listen. He lunged at Seokjin, his hands grasping Seokjin's throat.
"You liar!" Jungkook screamed, his face contorted with rage. "I'll never let you get away with this!"
Seokjin struggled against Jungkook's grip, his breath coming in short, panicked gasps. He felt his vision blurring, his consciousness fading away.
As Seokjin's body went limp, Jungkook loosened his hold, his eyes filled with a mixture of satisfaction and fear. He had never meant to hurt Seokjin so badly, but his jealousy had driven him to a point of no return.
