Chapter 48
Seokjin anxiously peered out the window, his heart pounding with worry. His parents were supposed to have arrived hours ago, but there was no sign of their car.
Seokjin had always been a bit of a worrier, and the thought of something happening to his parents and his son sent a chill down his spine. He tried to calm himself down, reminding himself that there was probably a perfectly reasonable explanation for their delay. But as the minutes turned into hours, his anxiety grew.
Finally, unable to bear the suspense any longer, Seokjin decided to go fetch his son himself. He left and call Hoseok, who promised to call him immediately if anything happened. Then the phone rings.
Seokjin's heart sank as he answered the phone, his worry morphing into a knot of fear in his stomach. The voice on the other end, his son's teacher, informed him that Jung-eon was the only student remaining at school, his parents yet to arrive.
A wave of panic washed over Seokjin, his mind racing with possibilities. Had something happened to his parents? Were they lost or in an accident? The silence on the phone amplified his anxiety, the teacher's words echoing in his ears.
"I'll be there right away," Seokjin managed to utter, his voice betraying his trembling nerves. He rushed to disconnect the call, his mind reeling with thoughts of his son's safety.
Jung-eon, oblivious to his Seokjin's distress, continued playing with his toys, his laughter a stark contrast to the turmoil within Seokjin. The though of his son's carefree demeanor only intensified Seokjin's worry, making him feel like a neglectful parent for not being there to protect him.
Without a moment's delay, Seokjin grabbed his car keys and dashed out the door, his mind consumed by the image of his son alone at school. The drive seemed endless, each passing minute stretching into an eternity.
Seokjin's heart pounded in his chest as he sprinted towards the school, his mind conjuring up every possible scenario to explain Jung-eon's absence. The teacher's words echoed in his ears, each syllable fueling his anxiety.
Upon reaching the school, Seokjin's eyes frantically scanned the playground, searching for any sign of his son. But Jung-eon was nowhere to be seen. His heart sank, the fear threatening to consume him.
In a desperate attempt to locate his son, Seokjin rushed towards the teacher, his breath ragged and his voice laced with desperation. "Where is my son?" he demanded, his eyes filled with worry.
The teacher, her face etched with concern, apologized profusely. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Kim," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "Your parents arrived about ten minutes after I called you. They must have missed your call."
Seokjin's initial relief was quickly replaced by a wave of anger towards his parents. How could they have been so careless? How could they have left their son alone at school without informing him?
Seokjin's heart sank as he dialed his parents' phone number, only to be met by the dreaded silence of a dead battery. His worry, already simmering, now boiled over into a cauldron of anxiety. He had been trying to reach them for hours, but their phones remained stubbornly unresponsive.
The thought of his parents, alone and stranded in the unfamiliar place like the Philippines, sent shivers down Seokjin's spine. He imagined them wandering aimlessly, their phones lifeless, unable to contact him or anyone else for help.
Seokjin attempted to contact Hoseok when he realized that Hoseok was in one of their client meetings. He cannot disturb his best friend.
Seokjin has a battle in his mind about whether he walks back home to the shop. Either way, Seokjin decided to go back home.
The mysterious notification had sent a jolt of anxiety through him, reminding him of a traumatic experience from his past.
Despite his apprehension, Seokjin couldn't ignore the pull of curiosity and concern.
Seokjin's heart raced as he sped towards the Enchanted Kingdom, his mind reeling with the unexpected news of his parents's whereabouts. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white as he navigated the bustling streets of Manila. The GPS guided him towards Laguna, the distance stretching before him like an endless ribbon of road.
As he drove, Seokjin's mind raced with questions. Why had his parents gone to the Enchanted Kingdom without telling him? What were they doing there? Were they safe? The more he thought about it, the more his anxiety grew.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Seokjin arrived at the teritory of Laguna a mile away to the Enchanted Kingdom.
Then, Seokjin's heart sank as he noticed the black car trailing him through the vast cornfields of Laguna, its menacing presence casting a shadow over the otherwise serene landscape. The car had been discreetly following him ever since he had entered the Enchanted Kingdom territory, its persistent presence sending a shiver down his spine.
Seokjin's mind raced, trying to make sense of the situation. Was he being followed? Why would anyone be following him, especially in this remote area? The more he thought about it, the more his anxiety grew.
He tried to shake off his uneasiness, but the car remained stubbornly in his rearview mirror, its presence a constant reminder of the unknown danger that lurked behind him. The cornfields, once a symbol of rustic charm, now seemed to close in on him, their tall stalks creating an oppressive atmosphere.
Determined not to show fear, Seokjin maintained his composure, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. He knew he had to stay calm, to think clearly, and to act rationally. He couldn't let the unknown assailant dictate his actions.
As he navigated the winding roads, Seokjin searched for a way to escape the black car's pursuit. He considered pulling over to confront the driver, but he hesitated, unsure of their intentions or their potential for violence.
Suddenly, an idea struck him. He spotted a narrow dirt road branching off from the main road, hidden amidst the cornfields. Without hesitation, he swerved into the dirt road, hoping to lose the black car in the maze of tall stalks.
The car screeched to a halt at the turn, its driver evidently caught off guard by Seokjin's maneuver. Seokjin used the opportunity to accelerate, the dirt road kicking up dust and gravel in his wake.
He darted through the cornfields, his eyes darting between the rearview mirror and the path ahead. The black car remained in pursuit, but Seokjin's quick thinking and familiarity with the area gave him a slight advantage.
"I cannot let them to take Jung-eon from me,"
