Chapter 39

"Appa, look! Look!" Jung-eon is excited to show Seokjin his new star marks. He knows that his Appa is proud of him, and he can't wait to see his reaction.

Jung-eon runs up to Seokjin and shows him his report card. "Look, Appa! I got all the stars!" he exclaims.

Seokjin smiles and ruffles Jung-eon's hair. "That's amazing, Jung-eon! I knew you could do it."

Jung-eon beams with pride, showing his newly grown bunny teeth. "I worked really hard, and it paid off!"

Seokjin puts his arm around Jung-eon's shoulder and gives him a hug. "I'm so proud of you, Jung-eon. You're such a good student."

Jung-eon hugs his Appa back tightly. "Thanks, Appa. I love you."

Seokjin smiles and kisses Jung-eon on the top of the head. "I love you too, Jung-eon."

The next day, Seokjin takes Jung-eon to the park to celebrate his good grades.

They play on the swings and slide, and Jung-eon has a great time. He's so happy to be with his Appa and to have his Appa be so proud of him.

After the park, they go to Seokjin's favorite ice cream shop. They order ice cream sundaes with all the toppings, and they enjoy every bite.

Jung-eon feels so loved and happy. He knows that he has a great Appa who loves him very much.

As they drive home, Jung-eon asks Seokjin, "Appa, why are you so proud of me?"

Seokjin smiles and says, "Because you're a wonderful son, Jung-eon. You're kind, you're caring, you're intelligent, and you're always trying your best. I'm so lucky to have you as my son."

Jung-eon feels his heart swell with pride. He knows that he's a good boy, and he's happy that his Appa sees that too.

They arrive home, and Jung-eon gives Seokjin a big hug.

"I love you, Appa," Jung-eon says.

"I love you too, Jung-eon," Seokjin says.

After a day of celebrating Jung-eon's academic achievements, Seokjin was eager to tuck his son into bed and share a bedtime story. He gently nudged Jung-eon awake, but the child's usual cheerful demeanor was replaced by a somber silence. Concerned, Seokjin inquired about Jung-eon's sudden change in mood.

Jung-eon, his voice barely a whisper, confessed that despite earning all stars on his report card, he felt a lingering sense of disappointment. He explained that he had hoped to achieve even more, to surpass his own expectations, but he felt he had fallen short of his true potential.

Seokjin listened attentively, his heart filled with empathy for his son's perfectionist tendencies. He reassured Jung-eon that his efforts were admirable and that his accomplishments were something to be proud of. He reminded Jung-eon that perfection was an unattainable goal, and that true success lay in the journey of continuous improvement and self-discovery.

Jung-eon's eyes welled up with tears as he listened to his Appa's wise words. He felt a sense of relief wash over him as he realized that his worth was not solely defined by his academic performance.

Seokjin gently tucked Jung-eon under the covers, and as he kissed the top of his son's head, he whispered, "I am so proud of you, Jung-eon. You are an amazing son, and I love you very much."

Seokjin observed that Jung-eon was feeling envious of his friend's father who was accompanying his friend to school. Jung-eon realized that he wanted a father figure in his life, and Seokjin felt a pang of sadness as he realized he could only provide Jung-eon with the support of a mother.

Seokjin knew that Jung-eon missed having a father figure in his life, and he wished he could provide more for his son. He knew that Jung-eon needed a male role model to look up to, someone who could teach him about the world and help him become a strong, confident man.

Seokjin decided to talk to Jung-eon about his feelings. He wanted to let Jung-eon know that he understood his feelings and that he was there for him.

Seokjin took Jung-eon out for ice cream after school and started the conversation by saying, "Jung-eon, I noticed that you were looking at your friend's father today at school."

Jung-eon nodded and said, "Yeah, I wish I had a father figure in my life."

Seokjin said, "I know, Jung-eon. And I wish I could be that for you. But I know that I can't always be the father figure you need."

Jung-eon looked down at his ice cream.

Seokjin continued, "But I want you to know that I love you very much, and I'm always here for you. No matter what."

Jung-eon looked up at Seokjin and smiled.

Seokjin said, "And I promise to do everything I can to help you find a male role model in your life. Someone who can be the father figure you need."

Jung-eon nodded again.

Seokjin gave Jung-eon a hug and said, "I love you, buddy."

Jung-eon hugged Seokjin back and said, "I love you too, Appa."

Seokjin knew that he couldn't replace Jung-eon's father, but he hoped that he could still be a good father figure for him.

Hoseok noticed Seokjin's distress and approached him with concern. "Seokjin, is everything okay?" he asked gently.

Seokjin hesitated for a moment, his eyes clouded with sadness. Then, with a sigh, he confessed his worries to Hoseok. "Jung-eon...he wants to be with Jungkook," Seokjin revealed, his voice trembling slightly.

Hoseok's heart sank. He knew that Jungkook was Jung-eon's biological father, but he also knew that Seokjin had raised Jung-eon as his own for many years. The thought of Jung-eon wanting to leave Seokjin was heartbreaking.

"Oh, Seokjin," Hoseok said softly, placing a reassuring hand on Seokjin's shoulder. "I can imagine how difficult this must be for you."

Seokjin nodded, tears welling up in his eyes. "I love Jung-eon so much, Hoseok. I've raised him as my own son for as long as I can remember. He's my whole world."

Hoseok listened patiently as Seokjin poured out his heart, understanding the depth of his pain and confusion. He knew that Seokjin had been betrayed by Jungkook, the man he had once loved, and now he was facing the possibility of losing the son he had cherished.

"I know you're scared, Seokjin," Hoseok said, his voice filled with empathy. "But you have to remember that Jung-eon loves you too. He's just confused right now. He needs time to process his feelings and figure out what he wants. Same as other families, they want a mother and father. Who support each other."

Seokjin took a deep breath, trying to compose himself. "I know," he said, wiping away a tear. "I just wish I could make this easier for him. I cannot go back."

Hoseok smiled gently. "You're doing the best you can, Seokjin. And that's all Jung-eon needs right now."

Hoseok continued to offer Seokjin support and encouragement, reminding him that he was not alone in this. He promised to be there for Seokjin every step of the way, no matter what happened.
