Chapter 2

The place was huge. Simon had wondered where or how Maia's event should take place, but she had really thought of everything. The building they were in had a very, very big lobby, Simon suspected it was one of the Lightwood estates that they owned, and he was right, judging by the smug look on Alec's parents. Simon eyed them. They seemed strict, but put on their best faces for all the people coming in, greeting them. Maia was standing next to them, smiling at the guests and looked cute as ever in her yellow summer dress. Jordan was a little further, keeping an eye on her, whilst dealing with a bunch of children who wanted to pet the puppies. Simon laughed quietly, looking at Jordan's distraught face as he tried to manage it all.

In the center of the room was the most important area, where all kinds of dogs were sitting, playing, barking, doing what dogs do best. Each one had a person assigned by Maia, to introduce them to passers by, and taking care of them. Simon had already put his eye on one of the golden retrievers, by the name of Jack. He was just a year old, full of energy and he loved to bite at people's shoes. That made Simon laugh. He could train Jack to bite other people's shoes but not his and then they would both get a kick out of it.

Dreaming away, Simon didn't notice Clary coming next to him at the bar, where he was currently on his second martini. "Earth to Simon!" she practically yelled, making Simon jump and glare at her. Thank god for Maia and her love for alcohol. Simon wouldn't be making through this otherwise. He had already met Alec's parents, who were the most uptight and boring people on the planet, and other major supporters of the cause, who were no better than the Lightwoods. "Why are you shouting into my ear when you should be eye fucking your girlfriend. Where is Isabelle, anyways?" Simon replied, rubbing his ear. Just then, Isabelle glided over to them in a long, black tight dress with killer heels on. Her hair were down in locks and she smiled brightly at Simon and Clary.

"Hola, Simon. Nice to officially meet you." she said, waving at him slightly. Simon smiled back and nodded. "Nice to know Alec has a sister. And a gorgeous one at that." he said, making Isabelle flush a little. "Clary told me about you." she stated, like it was supposed to clear something up. Clary had a wicked smile. "Yeah? Only bad things, I hope." he replied swiftly, making Isabelle laugh. "So, Isabelle, why are you working at Wendy's, if you're a Lightwood?" he asked. Clary glared at him. "Can't she have a job if she wants to? Just because her parents are rich..." she started to go into gear but Isabelle's hand on her shoulder stopped her. Isabelle smiled at Clary, making the redhead blush, which Simon found amusing.

"It's okay, sweetie." she said, leaning on the bar, watching the crowd and the dogs. "When Alec came out, our parents were furious. I hated what they did to him, neglecting his sexuality, so I went to work at Wendy's, to make them focus on me. It worked too, they went totally nuts, having their daughter work at such a place was a huge humiliation..." she said, chuckling. She sipped Simon's martini before she went on. "Well, the thing is, after it all cooled down with Alec, I started to like it. I mean, I have all the money I could want, but what's the point? There's no one to share it with. And I had never gotten a job before. So I didn't quit. The customers were so nice and the staff is funny and sweet to me." Isabelle finished. Simon's eyebrows shot up. "And your parents don't know about your sexuality yet?" Simon pried, getting another glare from Clary but Isabelle didn't seem to mind. Eating the olive out of the martini, her lips curled into a small, sad smile. "Nope. I have no intention of telling them. I mean I'm bi, so there's always been a chance I'll bring home a guy. But I might just bring a girl, to rub it in their faces. Besides, girls are so much cuter anyways." she said, eyeing Clary, who blushed under her gaze. Isabelle Lightwood was really something. Good for Clary, Simon thought.

He looked at his best friend, who seemed to be in awe of the woman in front of her, holding her hand. "Well, I feel like I am third wheeling here, so if you'll excuse me." Simon said, but the two didn't even notice him leave. He scoffed and looked around. This event was amazing, but to Simon, things were getting a little boring. He pulled on his collar. For Maia's sake, he had worn his silver tux, but he refused to put on a tie. It messed with his vibe. Besides, it was hard enough to have fun with dogs in a suit. I mean, who in their right mind would have a formal event with dogs? Might as well put bowties on the dogs, too. Come to think of it, that would be an awesome idea. He was so lost in the thought of dogs with little suits that he stood immobile for several minutes.

He snapped out of it when he saw a familiar figure talking animatedly to one of the waiters carrying out snacks. Simon rolled his eyes. He approached, smacking Trent on his back. "Stop harassing that waiter, he's not your type." Simon said, seeing that the waiter seemed very desperate to get out of there. "Fuck off, Lewis. This twat spilled half of his plate on me." Trent replied, his face almost red with anger. Simon glanced at his white dress shirt, that had indeed a small red stain, probably ketchup. But that didn't stop Simon from snapping back. "Whoa, you suck dick with that mouth? I'd watch what you're saying around here, Trent. A lot of friends around here... a lot of people I could talk to about your little 'adventure' with Malcolm Frock back in the first year..." he said smoothly. Trent sucked in a breath, his face contorting in the funniest way and the waiter smiled thankfully at Simon, who smiled back. Trent however, was fuming.

He was about to say something else, but changed his mind, probably because he thought over Simon's threat. He gritted his teeth and stomped away, making Simon chuckle. He turned to the waiter, who looked really shy. "Thank you so much, sir." he said, averting his gaze. Simon smiled. "Sir? Can't say I've ever been called that. No problem, he's a douche anyway." he said, turning around to see Clary and Isabelle talking to the Lightwood parents, while Alec stood next to his father. He glanced at Simon sadly and then looked to his right and Simon followed his gaze, where he found Magnus sulking in a corner.

He nodded at Alec and went to Magnus, who was typing on his phone. "Hey, loner. What's up?" he asked, leaning next to the other boy. Magnus looked up and rolled his eyes. "Nothing." he said, his voice clearly annoyed. "Come on, talk to me. You love parties and people and suddenly your alone in a corner? Spill." Simon insisted, putting a hand on Magnus' phone, who groaned. He sighed, frustrated and glanced at Alec's direction, who was holding an arm around his sister. "It's his parents. They hate me." he finally said, looking at Simon. The brunette sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, I know. Isabelle told us that Alec's parents don't really accept his sexuality, which is why I'm guessing that Isabelle is introducing Clary as 'her friend'." he replied, furrowing his brows. Magnus looked at Clary, who seemed like she didn't want to be there.

"That sucks. This sucks." Magnus replied, leaning back on the wall, looking defeated. Simon gave him a look and then put his hands on the other one's shoulders. "Hey, come on. You are amazing. Alec knows that. Screw what his parents think. And if they don't see how happy you make Alec, than they can fuck all the way off. You, my friend, are a gem. Literally, you fucking glitter like one." he said, looking dead-serious. Magnus laughed but he looked happier than before. He patted Simon on his shoulder. "Thanks, Si. I know I'm usually a dick to you but I love you." he said, trying to kiss Simon's cheek as a joke and Simon tried to get away, faking horror. They laughed and then Simon heard a shout.

He looked around and saw Trent shouting at a waitress not far from them. "Not again." he mumbled, rolling his eyes. Magnus eyed him suspiciously. "Simon, you promised not to make a scene." he said, nodding at Maia. Simon rolled his eyes. "I wont. I'm just going to talk to him. And maybe throw him out. He's a piece of shit." Simon said determinedly. Before Magnus could say another word, he walked off, heading towards the pair. "I said, get me someone who's in charge here!" Trent was yelling, clearly living out his anger on all the staff. Simon advanced, but another guy beat him to it. It was a blond dude with a white tux on and his hair fell to his face when he pulled Trent by his shoulder.

"What's the problem here?" he asked Trent, his voice low and confident. Simon stopped right next to them, eyeing the blonde. He looked handsome, his jawline looked like it was sculpted and even under the jacket, he could see the muscular arms. Simon could've bet a hundred bucks that he had nice abs, too. He shook his head, when Trent spoke. "This whole event is a disaster. No wonder, the bitch running the shelter couldn't even get through college to learn how to be a vet because she couldn't stop smoking crack for two seconds."

Simon saw red when he heard him talk shit about Maia. He stepped forward and without hesitation, landed a right-hook on Trent's jaw, who staggered back. The blonde looked so surprised, that he stopped moving altogether and before Simon could duck, Trent hit his face with the tray he had snatched from the waiter. As soon as it happened, Simon felt a sting on his lower lip as well as his cheek and he staggered back, holding onto it. When he looked up he saw Trent down on the ground on his knees, his hands held behind his neck by the blonde guy. He was barely straining himself and Trent was a big guy. "Now that's not a nice way to talk about a lady, isn't it? And assaulting guests? You're really pushing your luck here." he said, his face angry.

Simon's hand went to his lip, realizing it was bleeding. The blonde strained Trent's arms, making him wince. "Now, why don't you leave and I'll consider not breaking your arm?" he asked and when Trent didn't say anything, he pulled his hands back more, and Simon heard a small crack. Trent half-shouted "Okay!" before he was let go. He got up and scrambled away as quickly as possible. The blonde sighed and looked at the waitress first. "You okay?" he asked, approaching her. She nodded to him and Simon realized he was staring at the guy, when Maia ran to them. "What the acutal fu- Simon! You fucking promised!" she shouted at him, grabbing his chin to look at his lip. Simon rolled his eyes, fighting off her hand. "Hey, he asked for it." Simon said. The blonde now came closer, a worried look on his face. "You okay, man?" he asked, staring at Simon.

"Jace, you were here too? I would've expected better of you, honestly. Hold still, Simon!" Maia rambled, taking a tissue to dab at the wound. Clary rushed over with Isabelle on her heels. "Simon? Are you okay?" she asked. Simon let out an annoyed breath. "Can you all just calm down? It's just a small cut. I'm sorry for ruining the event, Maia." he said then, looking at the girl in front of him. She finally gave a small smile. "Oh, it's not that bad. You just scared a lot of the dogs." she replied. Simon glanced around. "Oh no, not the dogs." he said and meant it. The blonde, Jace, laughed. "Come on, there's a kitchen over there, you need some ice. I got him, Maia, you take care of your guests." he said, nodding towards a door in the back. Clary eyed him suspiciously, but Simon smiled at her. "I'm fine, Fray. I'll be right back." he said and the redhead nodded hesitantly.

Jace grabbed Simon's elbow and lead him to the kitchen area, where there were pristine, silver tabletops in the middle of the room and stoves in the back wall. On the other side there were fridges. Jace set Simon down on a chair and he didn't object. His lip hurt a lot. Jace grabbed a packet of frozen peas and knelt down in front of him. "Here." he said, gently putting it on his cheek and lip. Simon stared at him and smirked. "Thanks. I can take care of myself, though." he said, placing his hand on the packet and Jace let go, smiling. "Yes, I saw that." he said, rolling his eyes. "Hey! I threw the first punch." Simon protested and Jace laughed. "Yeah, after you had promised not to cause a scene?" he asked and Simon eyed him in surprise. The blonde shrugged. "Overheard Maia talking." he said simply.

"Yeah, my friends tend to overreact. Besides, Trent was badmouthing Maia. Not when I'm around." Simon almost growled, remembering the moment. Jace eyed him and stood up. "Well, you throw a mean punch, if it's any consolation. That Trent guy will have a nice black eye." he said, smiling at Simon. He looked at Jace, going over his figure. Jace's smile was bright and perfect, his teeth so white Simon didn't think that it was legal. He was about the same height as him, but the most intriguing thing were the eyes. Jace had blue eyes, but one of them had a speck of brown in them.

Simon stood up and looked around. "So, this is Alec's parents estate?" he asked out loud, from no one in particular. Jace looked at him, shrugging his shoulders. Obviously he didn't know who Alec was. "It's the Lightwood's, yes." he said, watching as Simon threw the packet of peas onto a counter and then let his finger slide on the pristine surface. "I bet if I'd jump on this I could slide all the way across." he mused, looking at the large counter. Jace laughed. "What?" he asked in disbelief. Simon didn't mind him and went for it. He jumped on it, sliding over it like he had seen bad-asses do in car chase movies, when they slid over the hood of the car. He landed gracefully on the other side, beaming at Jace, who looked stunned. "I've always wanted to try that." he said happily. Jace rolled his eyes, smiling. "What, jump over a counter in a kitchen that didn't belong to you? That's some dream, Simon." he said, his voice laced with amusement. Simon felt his stomach knot when Jace said his name. It sounded so good coming from his mouth.

He turned, looking at the blonde across the counter, their eyes staring into each other and Jace had a very small smirk on his face. This guy was unbelievably sexy. "Say it again." Simon said, not even realizing he was speaking his mind. Jace's eyebrow shot up and he stared at him. "Say what?" he asked incredulously. Simon licked his lip ring, feeling the sting. "My name." he replied, his voice now quieter than it had been a second ago. Jace's face changed and his lips curved into a wicked smile and his eyes burned into Simon. He put his hands on the counter, leaning in a bit and even though they were pretty far apart, Simon could feel the heat. "Simon." Jace said, letting the name roll off his tongue, his voice quiet and low, making his name sound almost sinful. Simon hid the shiver that ran down his spine, but his breath hitched for a moment and he bit down on his lip ring.

"I've never kissed someone with a lip ring before." Jace mused, his eyes now on Simon's lips. The brunette smiled slightly and moved to his left, when Jace made his move to the right, so they were now circling each other around the counter. "Ah, shame. You've been missing out." he said, feeling the tension in the air, when Jace stepped to the right again and he moved to the left. Jace stared at him, his face so bright it seemed angelic, if it weren't for the dark look in his eyes. "I believe you." he said, moving closer to Simon, who had now stopped. When Jace was on the same side of the counter as Simon, he stopped. They stood a few feet apart, staring at each other. Simon's lip curled into a small smile as he glanced at Jace's lips. They seemed full and very kissable.

"Simon?" Clary's voice broke out in the kitchen and Simon looked up, their spell broken. Jace seemed annoyed and Simon chuckled at it lowly. When he passed Jace, he leaned in only slightly, so he's mouth was close to his ear but not touching. "To be continued." he whispered, hearing Jace's breath get caught in his throat and his insides jumped with joy. He sauntered over to the door where Clary was standing, tapping her foot. "Calm it, Fray, I'm fine." he said, but Clary scoffed, following him outside. "Yeah, you got into a fight, Simon. I don't call that being 'fine'. Anyways, were going home. Since Alec is our ride, I thought you should know." she said, looking for someone, probably Isabelle to say her goodbye. Magnus and Alec came towards them, laughing. "You two are in a good mood." Simon stated, making Magnus beam at him. "Yep. We are." he said, not clarifying, but Alec smiled sweetly at Magnus.

Simon mumbled something but Clary was now back, her cheeks flushed as Isabelle waved at her. Clary's hand went automatically to her lips and Simon smiled. "So, is Alec's sister a good kisser? Since I'll probably never get to kiss neither of them..." he asked, making Alec groan and Magnus said 'Damn right'. Clary slapped his arm. "You, Lewis, shut the fuck up. You've cause enough trouble as it is." she said. They moved towards the exit and Simon turned, feeling eyes on him. Before he moved out the door, he saw Jace leaning on a pillar, chatting with Maia, but his eyes were on Simon. He smiled and slowly, put his hand on his lower lip and slid his thumb over it. Simon felt a burning sensation in his stomach and he smiled at the blonde. Then, Clary shoved them all outside.

"Wait, what did you do?" Magnus asked, clearly unaware of the fight. By the bewildered look on Alec's face, so was he. Simon wondered where they had been. "He decided it would be okay to punch another guest in the face, that's what he did." Clary said, extremely annoyed. Simon stopped before the car and as the others were getting in the car, he let out a huff. Magnus stopped half-way opening the door and looked at him. "What now?" he asked and Simon had it. It was like his friends thought he did these things on purpose or at least 'for the fun of it'.

"Trent was talking shit about Maia. Our friend. She has done nothing but kind things and I was not about to let him talk her down in front of the people supposed to help her get this business going. For the record, I don't go looking for  trouble, but somehow you all have a funny way of attracting it." he said, his voice agitated and Clary stopped getting in the car as well and Alec shut the drivers door quietly, his face quizzical. "Why do you think I punched that guy in the crotch at your birthday party, Clary? It's because I heard him talking about roofying another girl at your party. And Magnus, remember that time when I caused a scene in front of your parents? Yeah, I got super drunk and made a mess and all eyes were on me, why do you think that was? They were planning on telling you that they were not okay with you dating Alec and that they were going to stop funding you going to college, I overheard them. In front of all those people. But I made it so they forgot about it that night." Simon was now pointing at them accusationaly, feeling the anger bubbling inside him.

"Simon..." Clary started, her face now a little scared and surprised. Magnus' mouth was now open but no sound came out. Alec just watching him, his head tilted to the side. "Oh yeah, by the way, Alec, that bar fight we were in? Yeah, they were talking shit about the Lightwood family and even though your parents are assholes, I still felt the need to punch some sense into them because, guess fucking what? I care about my friends, and you are all my best friends, so I'm sorry for defending you, because I don't think it's right that they talk shit about you." Simon finished, taking out a cigarette and lighting it. The others were quiet for a moment and then Alec shut his door. "Simon, we didn't know. We're sorry." he said softly, looking at him guiltily. Clary looked even more guilty, but Magnus just looked uncomfortable. Simon exhaled and shook his head.

"It's fine, it's nothing. Sorry for lashing out like that." he said, kicking a pebble on the ground. Clary came towards him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Simon, you're our friend and we care about you, too. We were just...worried. But I'm sorry for giving you shit about it all the while." she said, her voice serious. Magnus and Alec nodded. Simon put out his smoke and nodded quietly. The car ride back was pretty quiet, the tension still there and Simon thought about tonight. Clary was fidgeting with her phone when she suddenly turned to him. "Hey, you want to come over tonight? My mom's not home. We could watch Captain America again." she said softly. Simon thought about it for a moment. He felt exhausted all of a sudden. "Nah, it's okay. I'll just head home." he said and Clary looked a little disappointed but nodded in understanding.

When Simon got back to the apartment, he went straight to the shower. Letting the warm water wash over him, he touched his cheek. It still hurt and was now bruising. His lip was a little better now but he had to clean it so it wouldn't get infected. When he got out of the shower, his phone made a sound.

"We feel really bad, Simon. Let's go out tomorrow? Drinks are on us." said the text from Alec. Simon smiled a little and texted back.

"Don't feel bad. We're all good. Sure, what time?"

After a minute his phone binged again but this time it was a message from an unknown number.

"How's your jaw and lip?" it said. Simon smiled slightly, knowing there was only one person who could've asked him that.

"Hurts, but I'll live. Already checking up on me?" he texted back.

Jace's answer came just a second later.

"With a pretty face like that, how could I not?"

Simon felt giddy, thinking of how Jace was worrying about him and he smiled again. He couldn't stop smiling for some reason. He saved his number on his phone and then Alec texted him back.

"8 good?" he asked. Simon sent him and 'okay' back and then went to the kitchen to find something to eat. When he was done building his peanutbutter and jelly sandwich, Jordan and Maia came through the door. "It went so well, they all loved it! And 6 dogs got adopted!" Maia was gushing. Jordan was looking at him with adoration. Simon bit down on his sandwich when Maia noticed him there. "Simon!" she said, rushing over to him and inspecting his jaw. Simon pulled away and rolled his eyes. "I told you, I'm fine. How did the rest of the evening go?" he asked. Maia beamed at him. "It was great. She really outdid herself." Jordan said, before Maia could answer. Simon leaned in and kissed Maia's cheek. "That's great, Maia, I'm really glad. Sorry for ruining part of it." he said, feeling guilty now. She waved her hand. "It's not a party if Simon Lewis doesn't throw a punch in there somewhere. It's good that Jace was there, though. Could've ended with you in the local police station." Maia scolded, putting away her bag and kicking off her high heels.

Simon huffed but swallowed the last bite and went to clean his plate. Jordan went to the TV, turning it on, while Maia was taking off her earrings. "So, Jace is a Herondale, right?" Simon asked, hopefully casually. Maia, however, turned to her with her brow furrowed. "Don't even go there, Simon." she said, looking at some papers she had pulled out of her bag. "What? I just wanted to know what the Herondales have to do with your shelter." he said, sitting on the kitchen stool. Maia looked up at him over the papers, before turning back to them. "They have that funding company. You pitch an idea and they decide whether or not to fund it. They saw potential in my work, or well, Jace's grandma did but I'm sure Jace helped. He and I went to primary school together. Anyway's, they said that they'd fund my second shelter, too." she continued, writing something on the papers, while Simon watched.

"That's great, Maia. Look at you, being all business." he said, tapping on the counter absentmindedly, thinking about Jace's different colored eyes. He was something else, Jace Herondale. From the first moment, Simon felt a strange pull towards him, but there was something holding him back. Usually, he always went for it, but now, he felt like there was a puzzle piece missing, something he had overseen. He couldn't quite put his finger around it.

"I can hear you thinking, Simon." Maia said, annoyed. Simon let out a small laugh but hopped down from the stool. "It's nothing." he said, going over to the couch, when Maia stopped him. "Simon, I know you think he's a good guy and all, but please, don't get involved with him. He's...there's something sketchy about Jace. I don't quite now, but I've heard things while I was at their headquarters, working on my project and well...just, be careful, okay?" she said now, her face full of worry. Simon was taken aback. Jace didn't seem all that dangerous to him...but there was this strange feeling that he was missing something about the blonde. He shook his head, smiling at his friend. "Oh come on, Maia. Don't be dramatic." he said, moving to sit next to Jordan. Maia hesitantly went back to her papers, mumbling something. Jordan looked at Simon, who reached for the remote and shook his head. "Simon, she's right. I know you think you have to fuck everything that moves but that Jace guy is bad news." Jordan said. Simon laughed and gave Jordan an amused glance. "Bad news is my middle name." was all he said, before kicking his feet up on the coffee table.

After staring at the wall blankly for about 10 minutes, he felt someone's hand on his shoulder. "Simon? You okay?" Alec asked, setting down a beer in front of him. Simon shook his head out of the daze and looked at the black-haired boy. He smiled dashingly and took a sip of the beer. "Great, now that my favorite guy is here." he said and Alec shook his head, laughing. He sat down next to Simon, watching as Clary and Magnus played darts. The redhead groaned when Magnus hit another bullseye, shouting and dancing around. Alec was also watching them and Magnus turned, winking at him. Simon smirked at the small blush creeping up Alec's neck and cheeks.

He slapped Alec's shoulder and smirked. "So, did you and Magnus work things out?" he asked, indicating to the party and his parents. Alec nodded shyly, but the way his cheeks flared up, Simon had to laugh. "You two did the dirty at the party didn't you?" Simon asked with widened eyes and an evil smile, when he calculated the time slot the two were missing at the party. "No! That's not- Simon!" Alec stammered while the brunette howled with laugther.

"What's so funny?" Clary asked, coming up to them and ordering 4 shots. Magnus looked at Alec incredolously, who was trying to look anywhere else but him. "Oh, nothing. Just Alec and Magnus and their insatiable hunger for sex." Simon said nonchalantly and Magnus almost spat out the drink he was sipping. Alec let out a breath, impatient and Clary laughed. "Seriously, Alexander? Why would you tell him about that?" Magnus asked, but Alec shook his head violently. "I didn't!" he replied, looking like he needed to be anywhere else but there, which only made Simon laugh more.

"Alright, enough about the sex life of these two, I have enough on my plate with Simon's." Clary stated after she had tears in her eyes from laughing, earning a glare from Simon, but Alec let out a small laugh at that. She distributed the shots and raised hers. "Simon, I know you didn't want anyone to know yet but we're your friends, so here - to Simon and his upcoming concert!" she said, a little drunk already, so Simon couldn't be mad at her, not even when Alec and Magnus shouted at him. "What!? Why didn't we know about this?" Magnus yelled at him, shooting daggers towards Simon. He groaned. "Well done, Fray." he said but the redhead just hiccuped and smiled at him apologetically. "It's not sure yet, but I got an offer to do a charity gig. It's not solid, but they said that they liked my work and they'll get back to me in a few days." Simon replied to the questioning faces of the other boys. Alec whooped and Magnus' eyes shone as he watched him with pride. "Simon, that's huge! I'm so happy for you! And don't worry, they'll phone you in no time and ask you to do it." the older boy said and Alec nodded.

"Thanks, guys. I love you losers." he said, like it's a toast and they downed their shots, Simon and Magnus laughing at the distorted faces of Clary and Alec. "Four more!" Magnus yelled at the bartender and Simon groaned inwardly. He had school tomorrow and he had a shift at the small deli a couple of streets up from theirs. But he looked at Clary, how her red hair bounced off the bar light and how she smiled, her eyes crinkling when she looked at Alec, who was animatedly trying to explain to her why Siamese cats looked ugly, like their skin was inside out, and how Magnus faked hurt at that, his eyes sparkling just like the glitter in his hair and on his jacket, and Simon smiled to himself. Screw the hangover, he was with his friends and planned to enjoy every minute of it.
