CONTEXT:
when zelena lincoln is left the only survivor of a car accident with her parents, she turns to drugs to cope with not only the physical pain, but the mental and emotional pain as well. as her drug use escalates, the people closest to her, her brother benjamin and her best friend nate jacobs start to notice a change in her. she overdoses at the end of the summer which sends her to rehab and her brother and nate into constant worry. when zelena comes home right before her junior year starts, she has no intentions to stay clean and as her relationship with nate deteriorates, her drug use only continues to get heavier.
