Lies

"Nothing to lose, huh?" Megan said snarkily as Gladion dragged her along. He ignored her, his grip on her tightening.

"You know we forgot to ask what they wanted, right? Are we just gonna buy some random shit and throw it at their faces or something?"

Still no answer.

"Hey!" Megan yelled, yanking her arm out of the male's grasp "You don't just start dragging me off somewhere and then ignore me. That's both rude, and will give people the wrong idea!"

Gladion didn't look at her. He didn't want to, nor did he want to talk to her. It was bad enough he had to sit through a movie with her, but now he had to go to the store with this girl? Damn, the Gods really had it out for him.

"Oi!" Something flicked his forehead "Pay attention to me!"

Gladion had caught Megan's wrist, pulling her up with it until she stood on her tippy toes.

"Don't think this trip will change my opinion about you in any way. Kapeesh?"

Megan blinked for a moment, but her sly smile soon returned to her face "You took the words right out of my mouth. Now can you stop breathing on me? I heard stupidity's contagious."

Gladion growled, dropping the girl before walking again. Megan huffed and began moving too, making sure there was at least seven feet of space between them.

"I still don't get why we can't get snacks at the cinema. Wouldn't that have been simpler?"

Megan raised an eyebrow at the male's muttering "Have you seen the movie theatre prices for those?"

"No?"

"Have you ever been to a cinema before?"

Gladion nodded "Once, with Natalie. We didn't get snacks because she didn't want to mess up her diet."

"Pfft. Figures." Megan snorted, and Gladion glared at her.

---

Due to arguments on what to get, Megan and Gladion had gone waaay overboard with snacks. Megan had tried stuffing as many as she could into her backpack, but most of it got tucked under Gladion's shirt. Was it obvious? Painfully...

The two met up with the others, who tried not to laugh at Gladion's appearance, before the six of them went inside to get their seats.

"Um, excuse me sir?" One of the employee's stopped Gladion "Can you lift up your shirt real quick?"

Fuck. Shit. Think Megan think!

Gladion frowned at him, but before he could answer Megan had taken ahold of his arm. She secretly winked at him and mouthed a quick 'play along'.

"Excuse me. My boyfriend had somewhat of a medical condition. He has a bunch of lumpy tumours all over his stomach. He's pretty self conscious about them so I'd appreciate it if you didn't point it out. LOOK AT HIM! LOOK AT HOW SAD YOU MADE HIM!" She gestured to Gladion, who seemed to have fake tears welling up in his eyes.

"I know... I'M HIDEOUS!" He cried out, wrapping his free arm around his 'stomach'. The employee cringed.

"M-My apologies, sir, madam. Enjoy the movie."

Megan secretly snorted, before pulling Gladion past by the arm. "It's okay, love. You're not ugly." they both went on with the act until they were around the corner.

They both sighed in relief, leaning against the walls opposite each other and unwinding slightly. To tell the truth, that was incredibly stressful as neither of them were that good at human interaction. Finally, they lifted their heads up to make eye contact.

"I didn't know you could act." Megan grinned at him, taking him slightly by surprise. This wasn't one of her smug smirks, this was a genuinely impressed smile. He couldn't help but smile back.

"You weren't so bad yourself." He chuckled "And that was pretty good quick thinking there."

"Did you just chuckle?"

"What...? Huh, I suppose I did."

"Hey guys!" Rose called from the end of the corridor "The movie's about to start, so get yourselves and those snacks over here!"

Megan and Gladion exchanged glances, before shaking their heads playfully and making their way towards the girl.

---

"I may have left one part out..." Hau rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly as he turned to the rest of the group "The seats we have are separate, so we're going to have to sit in pairs."

"DIBS SITTING WITH LILLIE!" Rose squealed, grabbing the blonde's arm.

"I call sitting with Hau!" Sun grinned, slinging an arm around Hau "So that leaves Megan and Gladion- okay enjoy the movie!"

And with that they split up, leaving the remaining two to process what had happened. After a moment Gladion turned to Megan "You know I think they're doing this on purpose..."

"Wouldn't surprise me." Megan sighed

Gladion suddenly smirked "But, they forgot about one thing~"

"What's that?"

"We still have all the snacks. This means we get them to ourselves."

Megan grinned evilly, lightly punching the boy in the arm "Gladion Aether, you are an evil genius."

"Hahaha- please don't punch me again..." He winced, rubbing the spot she hit.

"Oh crap, Sorry!"

---

"Wow!" Megan breathed out, leaning back in her seat as she watched the credits roll "I loved the movie before but... a simple improvement with the animation can work wonders!"

Gladion smiled at the girl, popping another Mars bar into his mouth "So I take it you don't think coming here was a complete waste?"

She shrugged "T'was alright... how about you?"

"T'was alright." He mimicked, smirking afterwards "Anyway, what do you say about throwing the leftover snacks at the others for them to sneak out with, while we go get that Macdonald's you promised me?"

"You mean I didn't already get that for you?"

"Nope. You sped away from me as soon as class had finished. Though, you did give me the middle finger so..."

"Oh..." Megan rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly "Sorry about that. Guess I was a bit of an ass."

"Yup."

"Oh wow, thanks love you too."

"You're the one that said it."

"Well you didn't have to agree with me!"

Gladion laughed at her pouty face, before the two scanned the room for their friends. Turns out they were already approaching, with really... big... smiles on their faces. Why were they...

Oh.

Oh no.

This is what they wanted. They set this whole thing up so Megan and Gladion would get along. Worst of all, it was working! The two were actually enjoying each others company, and were even planning to go to Mcdonald's after the movie. Fucking Mcdonald's!

Yeah. Okay, maybe Megan was pretty cool to talk to, and maybe Gladion wasn't such a stick in the mud. When she's not acting like a sarcastic bitch, and he's not acting like a grumpy edgelord that is. But she still acted that way almost twenty four-seven, mostly towards Gladion. And he still treated most people like aliens, mostly Megan.

Were going to risk their friends seeing them get along, and run the risk of continuing these little 'play dates'?

...

Absolutely not.

"Hey guys!" Lillie waved, speed walking towards the two teens as they watched her approach. She stopped in the aisle in front of them, crossing her arms on top of one of the chairs and grinning. "Soooo, how was the movie?"

"It was okay..." Gladion muttered, propping his elbow on his knee and resting his chin on his knuckles. He glanced over at Megan, who also seemed to be feigning a bored expression.

"But it loses points, since I had to sit next to this loser while watching it." She added on, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Gladion glared at her.

"You think I was okay sitting next to a brat?"

"I never said you were. I was just saying you made the experience slightly worse."

Gladion scoffed again "The feeling is mutual."

Lillie frowned "Just a moment ago you two were laughing together, and now you're back to how you were before. What happened?"

"We did nothing of the sort," Gladion scoffed "It was probably your eyes playing with you or something."

"But-"

"You heard Frenchfry. We weren't laughing, not genuinely anyway." Megan stated, standing from her seat and tossing the remains of her snacks to Lillie "Now if you excuse me, I promised Luke we'd spend some time together, since work gave him the day off."

Gladion also stood, throwing his snacks at Hau and Sun's faces as they approached "I'm leaving, too. I have some choreography to look over, and then a girlfriend to talk to."

Megan snorted at the mention of Natalie, earning a glare, before walking out of the movie theatre with her bag in hand and Gladion trudging behind her. Lillie turned to her friends, who seemed just as confused with the situation. They were sure they saw Megan and Gladion smiling at each other, so what was the deal with them still going on with this hate hate relationship?

---

Gladion continued to follow the girl in front of him, but as soon as they were outside the cinema he grabbed her wrist. She stopped walking, but didn't turn around "You have three seconds to let go of me, Aether."

"First, who is Luke?" The male asked, his voice low.

"Three."

Gladion narrowed his eyes "I'm not letting you go until you tell me."

"Why do you want to know? Two."

"Because you've never mentioned him until no-"

'One!"

Megan ripped her hand out of Gladion's grasp, before attempting to slap him out of irritation. The boy dodged like the pro dancer he was, grabbing her wrist again and grasping her other shoulder. He stared at her with piercing green eyes.

"Don't do that, you'll cause a scene."

"You're the one holding me against my will!"

"I was simply asking a question, one that really isn't hard to answer."

"Here's a question for you; why don't you mind your own business?" Megan bared her teeth, holding her gaze with the male she had grown to dislike "Why should I tell you about my personal life?"

"Because you're my sister's friend."

"That has nothing to do with us!"

"Yes it does. I gotta make sure you're not a bad influence to Lillie, for all I know you could be sneaking off with this 'Luke' prick to have relations or some--"

"Woah woah woah!" Megan cut him off, her mouth fallen agape as she stared up at him wide eyed "Dude. Luke's my brother!"

Now Gladion's eyes were wide, his hands falling to his sides after letting go of the girl "What?"

"Yeah. What you thought he was some manwhore I picked up on Tinder or something?"

"Well-"

"Actually don't answer that." Megan groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose "This is why you shouldn't assume, you'll end up saying stupid shit like that. I don't even have Tinder."

Gladion's cheeks began heating up from embarrassment, and he turned away from her before stuffing his hands in his pockets "I see... Well that's all, Artemus. You're free to go now."

He began walking off, but stopped after hearing the female call his name. He glanced at her from over his shoulder.

"Did... Did you mean what you said about not liking sitting with me?"

No "Yes. Were you actually planning to take me to Mcdonald's?"

Yes "Of course not."

"Well then." He started walking again "See you in class, brat."

Megan scoffed, turning and walking in the opposite direction "Maybe you will, maybe you won't, loser."

Both teens never looked back after turning away, as they continued their journey to their destination. However, they could not ignore the strange pang of pain they felt when they gave each other those hateful answers.

Or rather, lies.
