Chapter 4: Unit 1
In case if anyone is still reading this story, I just want to inform you that this chapter is Akanksha's flashback, so that no one gets confused...Anyways enjoy!!
A wave of flashbacks kept hitting me one after the other.
I was in my private tutions which Urja and I took together that's when I saw him entering our class, he introduced himself as Mr.Shantanu and told us that he would be teaching us for the next few months as his friend Mrs.Kanika, our original teacher was out of station for some personal reasons.
The day went normal. I did not mind our new teacher but something was off with Urja. She kept telling me that he was radiating a negative vibe but I was always brushing her off. Little did I know how wrong I was.
Latter, when I reached home I saw mom watching news. It was a bit strange for me because she only tunes in to news channels when something really horrible have had happened.
"Oh! Akanksha, you are home. Thank God you are safe." My mom expressed her concern. I think mom needs a doctor.
"Why? What's wrong?" I asked, she was acting really weird because she was never concerned about me.
"There is a serial killer roaming freely in our city. He or She has already murdered two girls." Rehana ( my older sister) said while coming out of her bedroom with Ayesha (my younger sister).
"Those girls were from your college Akanksha, maybe your negativity have affected them as well." Ayesha said while giving a high five to Rehana and earning a don't- you- dare look from mom. Hah! Thanks mom. My sisters are joking about dead young girls. They definitely need a doctor.
I rolled my eyes at their stupid behaviour and was just about to walk towards my room. That's when I realised what Ayesha said and I turned my head towards the television, my heart beating erratically in my chest.
I saw the pictures taken of the murdered brutally murdered victims. Their faces were completely destroyed but their old photos and their details that were in their phones made their identity clear. I recognised them.
"Soniya and Rajni." I whispered and three pair of eyes turned towards me.
My heart crumbled into so many pieces that it must have turned into a powder. Though I barely talked to them I knew that they were really cheerful girls, always radiating a possible aura around them. I was so lost in thought that neither I heard my mom call my name nor did I realised that tears were slowly trailing their way on my cheeks.
Rehana shook my shoulders and said, "Loser, get back to earth for God's sake." I wiped my tears so that no one could call me sensitive and laugh at me. That's when the doorbell rang.
I opened the door and was greeted by my grumpy father who as usual ignored me and gave Ayesha and Rehana a hug. I couldn't take more and rushed towards my bedroom.
I entered my personal heaven with black walls and white ceiling. I still remember my parents expression when I told them that I want my room to be painted in black. I smiled at it. After changing into my night dress I jumped onto my bed and was engulfed in sleep.
